I lost 260 lbs in about 26 months. I did it by eating less and exercising a whole lot more. Currently I hit the gym 5 days a week for a heavy lifting routine along with some cardio. I also run and bike several times a week. I've maintained the weight loss for over a year now.

Mine was a 1979 Mercury Cougar XR7 that I bought for $1,000 when I was 17. I drove it through high school and college, putting over 115,000 miles on top of the 100,000 it had when I got it. It had the 351M and 3 speed FMX. I painted it midnight blue metallic. Rebuilt the tranny with a shift kit with a blew up the planetary…

Eat Less, and Move More!

I second this. Throwing away food that you do not need is NOT wasteful. You don't need to clean your plate, and you don't need to eat something, just because someone gave it to you. My other trick is to figure out how many miles I would have to run to burn it off, that puts it into perspective very quickly. I've come to…

Awesome work man, keep it up!

This is my wife and I on our wedding day, 16 years ago. This is us right before Christmas 2012. I'm about 200lbs lighter than when we got married, my wife is about 50lbs lighter.

I'm usually up by 5am to get ready for some quality time at the gym before work. It took a little while to get used to it, but once you adjust your bedtime so that you get enough sleep, it's not a big deal. I always feel so much better after an early morning workout!
-
I average it out over the week rather trying to nail it down per day. I also allow myself a 5lb window, and if I hit either side of the window, I either adjust my intake or exercise to get back to my goal weight. I've been doing this for about 16 months now successfully.

Awesome work on the loss and the maintenance!

It is absolutely worth it. I didn't realize how much being "big" affected my quality of life until I lost the weight. I avoiding doing all sorts of things so that I wouldn't be embarrassed or draw attention to myself. I think my quality of life is much better now. I wish now, that I would have made the decision to do…

I prefer to do my lifting by myself. I get into the zone when I lift, and don't like to talk or socialize. I've been told I "lift angry". Running or biking on the other hand, I prefer to do with other people. I started out running alone, and now prefer to run with a small group.

I wasn't a morning person before I started working out. The key for me, is getting to bed on time. It is almost impossible to workout in the morning if you are not getting enough sleep before hand. Once you adjust your bed time, getting up is easy. I run on about 6.5 to 7 hours of sleep most days. I also agree with getting…

I like the Nike ProCombat HyperWarm stuff. The hyperwarm compression tights are great for running. Along with that I'll wear one of the HyperWarm long sleeve shirts, with a ProCombat short sleeve shirt under it, and a running jacket for an outer layer. Don't forget good gloves and a hat. You hands and ears get cold when…

I either pick a similar dish from the database from another restaurant. I try to use an entry from another restaurant, because home cooked dishes are usually much lower in calories. If I can't find anything close I'll input what I think are the ingredients to try and get a rough estimate.

Green mountain hazelnut decafe, black. I gave up caffeinated coffee about 5 years ago, but I still like a hot drink in the morning. I gave up the cream and sugar when I losing weight, save me 40+ calories a cup.

Awesome work! Keep it up! Our life truly is a gift given to us by God, and we should make the the most of it, and take care of what he gave us.

I picked up a KitchenAid 5-Speed blender at target about a month ago, so I can't comment on the long term reliablity, but the reviews are good, and it's been great so far. It was $99, but I got a $20 gift card at checkout when buying it, not sure if they are still doing that.

Final line of the article says it all: "Ultimately this shows a diet must be realistic to be adopted as part of a new lifestyle. Curbing cravings is better than deprivation for weight loss success, said Prof Jakubowicz." It's not something magic about chocolate cake, it's about making lifestyle changes that you can…

It took me 26 months till I hit my final goal weight.

My wife says I don't snore anymore, and I definitely sleep better at night. The weirdest size that changed is my hat size. I went from a size 7 7/8 fitted baseball cap to a 7 1/2. Never thought my hat size would change, had to get all new baseball hats. The best change is that I have so much more energy now than before. I…

I lift 5 days week, 60-80 minutes a workout.

I've been maintaining for a little over a year now. I did it by raising my calories slowly until I stopped losing. Now I try and keep myself within a 5 lb range of my target weight, and when I start to drift to either side, I will raise/lower my calories as need to get myself back into my range. Not much else changed when…

Yesterday was my 1 year anniversary of hitting my goal, and I have maintained my weight for the past year. I'm actually up a little bit, but that is because I have been adding some lean mass, so it's on purpose. I hit my weight loss goal before I joined MFP, but it has been a great tool for maintenance, as I have found you…

I cut the cardio when I'm short I'm time. I just eat less that day to make up for the cardio I didn't do. I can't make up for lifting I didn't do by changing anything else, so I prioritize it at the top. This is how I did it when I was losing weight, and while I've been maintaining.

I lost enough that I moved my wedding ring from my ring finger to my middle finger, and eventually it got too big to wear on my middle finger. At that point I just stopped wearing it until I hit my weight loss goal. Once I hit my goal, I got it re-sized. Just make sure your wife knows why you have stopped wearing it, you…

I lost 260 lbs in 24 months. I've kept it off since this past winter, and I've been working adding lean mass.

Depends on what you need. I got a 2013 Mustang GT this summer, and it is an awesome car. Fast, and fun, but you can only fit 4 people and only if the 2 in back are small. My wife has a Ford Flex with the EcoBoost motor and All-Wheel Drive, and it will haul 7 and is still fast and fun. We really like both of them.

Awesome job man! Keep up the great work.
