  • That's wonderful, Laura. Keep up the good work.
  • Thanks, Kathie for the recipe links. One tends to get in a rut so these help. Much appreciated.
  • Thanks for the tip. I have been hearing from several sources recommending a 25 to 30 gm of protein for breakfast soon after getting up. I heard one fitness guy on youtube today who said doing this alone will contribute greatly to easier weight loss. Worth a try. I also find my doc not too concerned tho' my A1c is a lot…
  • Good for you, Bev. Your A1C being reduced that much, and for you continuing to work on it with a goal of getting off meds. I'm sorry my last one was 7.1. And it's been gradually inching up. Tho' I lost almost 50 lbs. a few years ago and it came down to 6.1 I'm still on metformin. Trying to cut back I was down to 2 a day,…
  • I just took a peek at your photos, Stick. What a sweet baby, you are blessed. And to have your hubby so supportive, wonderful. I find now with the diabetes under better control I don't crave ice cream so much any more. And if others are having treats it doesn't bother like it did when the metabolic syndrome had the…
  • I wanted to get off some of the bp meds, have some kidney damage already, partly from a drug reaction I had a few years ago and tend to retain fluid a lot. Once you get used to having less salt the food tastes OK. I use a lot of other spices to enhance the flavor. Biggest problem for me is eating out - not too many choices…
  • Mr. T - Sorry, don't see your real name here, just wanted to mention that my doc wants me to do 1500mg NA or less daily. It's not much but has gotten me off 2 BP doses. Do Statins raise glucose? I didn't know. Doing exercise and cutting back on carbs, especially sugars I am down from 5 metformin to 2 and hope I can hold it…

  • I just needed to read some of your posts today, a good reminder to 'stick to it, girl'. It's true, food is not love, there is sooo much more to life than eating. Enjoy the summer, the flowers, the friends etc, etc, etc. Ellen
  • I'm pretty new here, but have been type 2 for going on 10 years. Lots of good advice. Sounds like most do a great job of keeping their glucose levels down. I'm canadian so our standard according to the diabetes clinic I attended is not to go over 10 2 hours after eating. And, it's true, exercise after a meal helps to keep…

  • Wow, you have lost 56 lbs since last OCT! You are doing great. I used to get colds a lot, not so much since I have lost some weight/gotten the Glucose under control. Would like to get rid of more meds, especially reduce Metformin because of the side effects.
  • Thanks so much for the recipe, look forward to trying it. I have to watch the sodium too so will have to find a way to cut that about in half. Thanks again. Ellen
  • Not sure about your hrm but you are obviously going to right direction. You've lost so much weight and with your work outs things will start to hum again for you. Keep up the good work. Ellen
  • Hi, I'm new to this group, tho' have been on MFP previously and a Type 2 for almost 9 years. I'm looking to lose another 40 lbs so need all the help I can get! The older I get the harder it seems to be, and the more complications of diabetes. Look forward to getting to know some of you, especially those who are in their…
  • Hi, All, I haven't been around for quite some time and don't recognize most names, except Callie, who has already been kind enough to write a note. And good to see you're still here Barbie. Sounds like you are doing very well in spite of nasty medical tests. But good news for you. Do you struggle at all with eating…
  • Good Morning, All. So far, so good. A few goodies but keeping the total cals down. So wonderful to celebrate the Christmas season with family and friends. Not sure if I'll get a chance to post again before Christmas Day, so wishing each one of you a blessed and happy Holiday. Thanks for all your support and care, and we'll…
  • Hi everyone, Yes, Barbie, so sorry to hear about the fate of the Mt. Hood climbers. Very dangerous passtime in the winter I guess. Thanks for your kind and welcome encouragement, Sandy and Barbiecat. I appreciate it. I guess most of us are in holding mode over Christmas. At least, not to gain is a good goal &/or…
  • Checking in after a rather long absence. Have enjoyed catching up on some of your posts. Congratulations Barb, on your wonderful success. And Barbiecat, you keep on keeping on, and your new picture shows it. Calie, thanks for keeping in touch. We have been cold here too, so it's mall walking, not nearly as fun as outdoors,…
  • Hi, Everyone, Checking in for Nov. And will try to do more than just check in this month. Glad to hear most everyone is doing pretty good. Birdie - sorry to hear about your husband's Mom. Getting older is hazardous to the health. Lord help us all to take good care of ourselves and those around us. Look forward to the…
  • Hi, Everyone;, I'm having trouble keeping up with all the posts, but good to catch up with some of you. I haven't been posting very much, seemed to be stalled in weight loss. But had a good report from the doc earlier this week although there are some things they can't do much about. As the specialist says, some things you…
  • Good to hear from you, Barbie, you are so close to your goal. What an inspiration. KC Hi, I see you are from California? I have GRANDkids there. Love it. I'm from straight north, in BC. Good to be back and start to catch up with you all. Even with the ups and downs of daily life and eating everyone seems to be doing very…
  • Greetings to all, here I am, Sounds like most of you are doing very well. I skimmed through some of the posts but I'm afraid too many to read all. It will take me a while to catch up. Meanwhile, though eating without keeping track of everything haven't gained any pounds, thankfully [We just had our Canadian Thanksgiving]…
  • Hi, everyone, I've been away again, and lots of new names since I was here last. Greetings to all. Special hi to Barb, and Barbiecat, Suzzeque and the others who've been a great support over the last months. I've been floating through the summer it seems, about where I was before, time to get going again. Feeling some…
  • Hi, Everyone, thanks Calie and Barbie for your words of encouragement. I've not had much time to post with catching up from the travels. If you miss reading every day you miss a lot too. Glad to hear most are doing well. Hope your daughter's surgery goes well Sandy. It hasn't started to cool off here much yet, lovely…
  • Marie, I sure enjoyed seeing your photos. I feel like I know you better now that I can put a face to your posts. Thanks for thinking of me. We had another almost 2 weeks out with the RV, sunshine all the way, lots of walking by the lakes and campgrounds. Hated to come home. Bad news is it looks like I have gained 3 lbs.…
  • Hi, Ellen here, Did you all miss me? [actually we've been away so much plus lots of company the last 5 months that most of you newer ones won't even know me]. This last time out in the RV was mostly down our valley visiting some wonderful camp grounds, even had quite a bit of company coming out the the camps to spend time…
  • Well, I am going to jump in here. Have been AWOL most of Aug. And haven't lost at all, in fact have found a few pounds I thought I had lost for good. But, as Barbie said, it's a new day - and a new month even. Ready for a new start. Goals for Sept . - exercise 30 plus minutes a day, [I do mostly walking with a little…
  • Boy, if you miss a day here, you miss a lot. Thanks for sharing, Beth, good to get to know you a lttle more. May the Lord keep you safe. My son did time there too tho' in a little different way, he flies with the navy. Last year he did 6 mo. on the ground in the southern Philippines, it's an awful long time away from…
