The more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn. Strength training is every bit as important as cardio. :)

I really think people get "too into" that number on your pedometer or even the MFP. If your goal is weight loss and you're losing, you are in your game. Don't get hung up on the calorie burn number. They aren't too accurate anyway. A good friend on MPF recommends just using your minutes as your calorie burn. 90 mins = 90…

I have a wonderful friend who says that our bodies are the smartest when it comes to knowing how many calories we need. If you aren't losing then you are eating too much. Plain and simple. Not being mean here, just stating a fact. Try reducing a little more and see what happens. Greatest of luck to you! :)

Amen to this!!!

Isn't it funny how we each see and appreciate things differently? :-/

Don't take this personally but if you feel fine, why are you stressing over this? I think it's a bit obsessive taking your pulse every hour on the hour if you weren't medically advised to do so.

I lost over 40 pounds and no one at my job said a thing. I considered it a blessing because when I had gained weight, they were kind and didn't comment then either. I guess it's all in how you look at it.

I feel your pain. :frown: Just know that our bodies are complicated and one week doesn't a diet make. Make sure you are actually consuming the amount of calories that you think you are. Portion size is important. Also ... patience is the key. Hang in there. Keep doing what you're doing and your hard work will start…

I agree with this statement 500%. As a fitness trainer told me, our bodies are the ultimate goal decider. What we CAN eat for our own bodies is 100% different than what any weight chart is going to tell you. Every person needs to find what calorie level works for them through trial and error. Then and ONLY then will the…

I can "hear" the frustration in your message. As I've been told many times, our bodies always tell the tale of our eating. Your diary isn't open. Maybe you are eating more than you think ... Maybe a food scale would help in deciding if your portions are spot on. Also I personally have to watch my carbs and eat protein with…

My cravings are better by avoiding lots of processed stuff, lower carbs and protein with each meal. Hope this helps. :flowerforyou:

Good thing for you, your parents didn't think this way. :frown:

The support in this statement makes me feel proud to know that there's actually people out there who can give positive affirmations and not ridicule. Thank you SO much for this! I agree with what you said 500%. Not one of us are perfect. Beating ourselves up does nothing but push us down further. Concentrate on…

So sorry for all of your losses, Melissa. Maybe you can turn things around by looking at things differently. Start counting all of your blessings. You are happily married. You were able to conceive and Lord willing you will again. I bet if you sat and thought about it, your list of blessings would be long. Good luck on…

Unfortunately, if you are insulin resistant, carbs can make a HUGE difference in your weight loss. Depressing ... I know. I lose weight painfully slow. I keep trying to eat some carbs but the only way I ever seem to lose any significant weight is by eating very low carbs. :frown:

Just reading this makes me feel like gagging  Don't get me wrong, I love cauliflower but it was NEVER meant to be a good substitute for any pizza crust. :noway:

Experts recommend that we ALL get 10,000 steps a day. It takes approximately 2000 steps to reach a mile. So ... 5 miles a day sounds great to me!

You need Probiotics as well as Prebiotics. They work synergistic-ally. I take Prebiotin brand. The prebiotics are more difficult to buy locally. Even the drug stores don't always carry them. I order mine. http://www.prebiotin.com/ This is where I get mine. Hope this helps!

I think how many carbs each person consumes varies from one to another. I'm in my fifties and have to eat less carbs than most people or I can't lose an ounce. I've finally come to learn and accept that to lose weight and then maintain I can't eat as many carbs. I think you find out what works for you through trial and…

Is there a certain time of day that you seem to binge? For me it's always night-time. I heard a Dr who specializes in binge eating disorders say that our minds become accustomed to our behaviors. He said that we actually have little "channels of thoughts" that become ingrained in our brains. He said if we binge at a…

Amen! Prayers all the way. I couldn't make it through a single second if I didn't have Jesus in my life. So ... Let's keep praying! :flowerforyou:

This is a great site. You plug in the ingredients and number of servings for ANY recipe that you have and want to know nutrition info for. Hope this helps now and in the future. http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php

I guess my question is how did you get to 200 lbs if you think 1200 calories is too much? My thought is you are eating more than you think you are. It's a common problem that most of us deal with.

You can't compare yourself to what she can lose. You have nearly no stomach now because you had gastric by-pass. Not a fair comparison at all. Great job on losing all of the weight though!

Off topic. Phrick, you have two of the most beautiful Boston Terriers I have ever seen! I'm a huge dog lover so had to comment. :flowerforyou:

Amen! NO way ANY woman over 50 would make that remark

You will be eating extremely low calorie. My sister ate only 300 - 400 calories a day for months after her gastric sleeve surgery. Now after almost a year she is eating a 1000 calories but gains if she eats more. The Dr says this is common after eating such a low calorie diet after surgery. You definitely need to think…
