LTF was always a zoo in the early evening after work. I used this as an opportunity to try other exercises for the same body part. If the dumbell rack was crowded, use a cable cross, barbell, machine, or do a body weight exercise equivalent. If I absolutely needed to use a piece of equipment I'd give people a reasonable…

Squats, bench, deadlift. Heavy compound lifts that will build muscle and increase your strength.

I've heard of myofibrilar vs sarcolemmal hypertrophy as one theory behind this. Higher reps forces more blood into the muscles and stretches the cell membranes (sarcolemma) of the muscle fiber which serves as a stimulus to increase the surface area of the membrane in order to relieve the tension. This makes the muscle…

Normal heart rate is 60-100 bpm and is initiated by a bundle of nerves at the top of the heart called the sinoatrial(SA) node. This is the natural pacemaker of the heart but if it gets damaged or your vagal nerve tone increases (say from getting into shape for a marathon) then other sites will take over this pacemaking…

2 hours is excessive but 4 hours is downright unhealthy. If you are lifting try to keep your session to under an hour and then do 30 minutes of cardio. 3/days a week is not ideal for weight loss but it's not impossible by any means. Stick to shorter, higher intensity workouts and make sure you are eating at a caloric…

I've heard that light cardio can actually speed recover from illnesses like the cold and flu (and hangovers for that matter, but I digress). This has always been true for me but whether it's just placebo effect or actually some physiological effect, I'm not sure. I'd just say wait until you don't have a fever and then…

The same way coffee can be a zero (or near zero) calorie energy drink. The kick from both come from primarily from caffeine. Black coffee is better in my opinion but all the Starbucks-esque frappucinos and lattes are just as bad or worse for you than a monster or redbull. It's the same regarding sugar free energy drinks…

You've already proved you can lose weight by going from 180-140. Don't be afraid about putting on fat while bulking because you know you'll be able to take it off later but it will be even easier the second time around due to experience and having a higher BMR due to increased muscle mass. Too many guys that want to build…

Helps purify the blood? Helps "clench" the liver? What does that even mean? Also lemon juice doesn't alkalinize your body. It's neutral in terms of its acid-base load. One hydrogen ion is supplied to the body and one hydrogen ion is used by the body to metabolize the citrate. If you want alkalinizing effects look into…

Do you eat a lot of artificial sweetners? These tend to make you crave actual sugar. Yet another reason to cut them out of your diet if you haven't already.

Try cross training with some low impact cardio like biking, ellipitcal, and swimming. That way your endurance won't tank but you'll give your tendons somewhat of a rest. Also ice that bad boy as soon as you get done doing any sort of physical activity.

Most pre-workouts are loaded with about 400 mg of caffeine among other non-caffeine stimulants, so more or less you are going to run into that problem with any of them. Hemavol (powder not caps) is a stimulant free pre-workout that always gave me good tunnel-vision focus without jacking my heart rate up.

Look up "Familial Hypercholesterolemia" If your family has a history of heart disease and high cholesterol there is a good chance you may have this. Cholesterol levels depend on much more than just how much you are ingesting in your diet. Obviously a diet low in cholesterol will help but it may not be enough to lower your…

Almond milk is plant abuse, so I choose regular milk

Step 1) Throw soda in trash can Step 2) Purchase BPA-free or stainless steel water bottle Step 3) Drink water out of bottle purchased in step 2 Step 4) Repeat step 3

It's most likely hurting during the movement because it is still inflamed. Put ice on it for 20 minutes at a time, take advil, and lay off the exercises for a few days. Once the inflammation has subsided it shouldn't be as painful. I've had shoulder issues in the past and the Diesel Crew Shoulder Rehab protocol on youtube…

Im sure it doesn't help if you ingest huge quantities of sugar on a regular basis but remember that your body needs glucose to survive. If you don't have diabetes I'd be way more concerned about cholesterol levels and blood pressure causing heart problems than sugar.
-
High levels of blood glucose eventually cause the sugar to attach to various proteins in the blood and in the vessel walls (non-enzymatic glycosylation) to make products like hemoglobin A1c which is why it is used to assess how well a diabetic has controlled their blood sugar for the last 3 months or so. These…

Unless you know you have a deficiency don't worry about it. Chances are you are getting more than you think as most foods don't have the amount of potassium even listed in the nutrition facts. Avocados, bananas, and coconut water have tons though if you are concerned about it.

Look up Raynaud's phenomenon. It's actually pretty common in women and is totally harmless.

Just my two cents regarding whats going on: 1) Ketogenesis is what your body reverts to when it is deprived of carbohydrates long enough for your glycogen depots to be depleted and there are no longer substrates available to regenerate glucose (gluconeogenesis). As such this sets you up for a bout of hypoglycemia which is…

Muscle no type Elbow lift bad much weight. So disease. That's about as intelligible as what was just typed above. Proficiency in the English language is usually a prerequisite to offering medical advice. You didn't mention any actual diseases of the elbow besides epicondylitis. "I award you no points, and may god have…

How do you feel other than noticing the color change? Also do your eyes or the floor of your mouth have a similar yellow tinge? Yellow coloration in any or all of these areas is common to jaundice which is build up the products released from breaking down your red blood cells. It is harmless in and of itself but it usually…

Shin Splints are due to a muscle imbalance in your lower leg. Your calves are too tight and/or too strong compared to the muscles on the front of your leg (tibialis anterior, extensor hallucis longus, extensor digitorum longus). First, ice, NSAIDs (advil, aleve, etc.), and rest until the inflammation goes down. Then start…
-
I'd say after, mainly because taking an NSAID and then sweating and getting dehydrated can wreak havoc on your kidneys (NSAID induced nephropathy). If you insist on taking it before, be sure you are well hydrated to begin with, and continue drinking water during the workout.

Look up DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) Good chance that's what you are experiencing
-
Fasting increases glucagon levels which is a catabolic hormone that tries to maintain blood glucose. It's main action is glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. When carbs run out, glycogen stores are depleted and both fat and muscle are tapped into as sources of substrates for gluconeogenesis. Ketogenesis begins once…

Live fit is going to make you do the opposite i.e build muscle for the first phase and then start to lose the fat. Building muscle will increase your metabolism and make losing the fat in later phases easier. Plus you will look lean and muscular and not just skinny fat once you do lose the weight. I know for most women the…

Sodium intake and exercising can both increase your BP. You said your BP was high after a cold. If you took any sort of decongestant (sudafed, etc.) they will raise your BP. Low BP in the vast majority of people is due to volume depletion. If you notice yourself getting dizzy when standing up try to drink some water and eat…

You pretty much don't need to do any cardio on a keto diet in my opinion. Lifting alone will promote fat loss and help preserve muscle. Cardio is just going to make you lose more muscle. It depends somewhat on the calorie deficit as well. Just from experience with keto diets once your glycogen stores are shot you are gonna…
