  • I really like this recipe for "Colorful Turkey Chili" from Whole Foods: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/387
  • You look amazing!
  • An alternative is that if you don't care about the other numbers, then enter the food and don't select the option to add it to the database for everybody to use. That way you don't have to do extra work for something you don't need.
  • My German Shepherd Dog, Tessa (15 months old), is one of the reasons I'm getting in shape. She is extremely high energy and getting her tired is a major effort. One of my friends got us involved with Nose Work, and Tessa loves doing it and is even kind of gifted at it. This means that I have to be able to not hinder Tessa…
  • I have rheumatoid arthritis, and my Rheumatologist says running is fine IF I get good shoes, start slowly and build up, not run on concrete, and pay attention to my body. I've been doing just that and my knees and ankles feel better than they have in a very long time (mostly due to the weight loss, but I'm sure some is due…
  • My dad saidvsomethingbsimilar when he was wrong, and he was wrong a LOT! He'd say "did you ever do anything wrong that I didn't punish you for?". I'd say "Yes." He'd reply "Well, this is for THAT time."
  • Not just water gain, but think of all that extra food in your system... until it works its way out the "other end", the scale may not be your friend. Both the water weight and the other baggage are only temporary. Keep on keeping on.
  • P.S. Drink lots of water right now, until you are sure the headaches have subsided. This will keep you hydrated as well as help flush your body out.
  • If you think any particular item you consume is giving you a migraine or a migraine-type headache, then it would be a good idea to cut whatever it is out of your diet. It doesn't matter if that item is artificial or natural. Our subconscious/intuition can often make the link between a particular item we consume and a…
  • Not all of us do housework every day. I got to the gym each morning and then spend about 10 hours a day at a desk, and when I get home I don't have much energy or time for housework. When I do get around to it, generally on weekends, I do count it because it is a extended, vigorous effort at that point. If my day job was…
  • I've been watching this over the past couple of weeks. Both my hrm and the treadmill track my hr well, they are consistently within a few bmp of each other, My hrm gives fewer calories burned by about 15%. I have intentionally used different treadmills for this comparison.
  • I've noted this too about recipes. I can't get anywhere near the same counts on MFP that the other sites claim. I choose to use MFP as my reference point to avoid any more pain than absolutely necessary. About the foods in the database, certain foods that we believe to be "standard" do vary in different places around the…
  • Sounds like a great idea to me, I don't think you need to worry about overtraining by doing this. It will keep you from watching all those food ads also. When I was a kid, I had a friend whose Dad was a dentist. He had a bag of brand new toothbrushes. If we wanted to watch TV, we had to grab a brush, dampen it, and…
  • This equates to boredom in my life. Not just momentary boredom, but a lack of general excitement and a desperate need to add something fun into my routine.
  • Did you bring bacon? Guys his age ALWAYS wake up for bacon...
  • Just don't die of young, stupid pride, OK? Take this seriously. If anything gets worse between now and your appointment tomorrow, go to the ER. OK team, he's in Texas, shall we all meet there to escort him to the doctor tomorrow?
  • You had better be at the ER. Let us know if we need to take up a collection to help pay for things!
  • Go see a doctor, even if you have to go to the ER. It is much easier for them to treat you if the problem has not gone systemic and you can walk in under your own power. Ambulances cost a lot! Sounds like pneumonia to me, and I would know, I get it every couple of years.
  • Sorry, I didn't realize that this would be interpreted as fighting, I thought we were having a respectful difference of opinion. Neither of us meant to offend anybody, or cause anyone discomfort. If either occurred, please accept my apologies.
  • Now we are in complete agreement! :drinker:
  • You stated this: Had you said "I've only seen yogurt with one type of probiotic", you would have been correct because you were stating your experience. Instead, you said that yogurt only contains one kind of probiotic.
  • I don't think anybody was offended, my concern is that you were stating your opinions as if they were facts and also providing incorrect information.
  • Yogurt only contains one kind of probiotic? Funny, I eat Chobani Greek Yogurt, and it contains five... I just confirmed on the manufacturer's website.
  • It is also very useful if you have recently taken antibiotics, or if you have recently had food poisoning/diarrhea. Sometimes when they tell you it is good for you, it is!
  • You could try kefir, especially if it is the texture of yogurt that gets to you. Kefir has the probiotic stuff in a drink form. It IS a little tart like yogurt. Lifeway kefir has a higher protein content than most, and (IIRC) a lower sugar load.
  • It is all in how you present it. I would choose the gift, and pair it with a note telling the friend how much she means to me, and that I am proud of the changes she has made over the past year, that I am in complete support of her efforts, and this is something that I found to be wonderful, and I hope she uses it for a…
  • I've lost about the same amount. It is about what my mom's old German Shepherd Dog weighed. You might have better luck (and a shorter police record) if you switch species. I love carrying my friend's kids when they request it, it really does give perspective.
  • Leyna, you made my day as well as your grandma's and your cousin's. Thanks for calling your family, and for letting me know! Elaine (now heading to bed with freezing cold feet and a glowing warm heart)
  • Dear Brothers and Cousins, Remember our Aunt who put together all those fabulous holiday dinners over the years, and was largely responsible for all of us growing up feeling loved and supported? The one who asked how our days were, and really cared about our answers? The one who provided the regular notes and newspaper…
