  • Generally speaking, what kinds of reading do you like. I am / have been into many different genres over the years. Maybe I can suggest something. Fiction or non-fiction? Modern day or a bit (or a lot) historical? Mystery or relationship-type? Very "real-world" or with a touch of magic? Or a lot of magic/fantasy?
  • Food pre-logged for the day. Still room in the the numbers for a nice snack later (even pre-exercise). "Leaving for work" soon (I work off-site these days ... that 14-stair commute to the second floor takes sooooooooooo much out of my day ..... lol ) I'll be back later with my full daily-report
  • Skirt is made. Sewing paraphernalia round-up next on the ToDo list. a "Route out ROT" pass on my work-at-home papers by the end of NEXT weekend (if not before)
  • Someone mentioned the concept of "stacking habits" (pairing something you already do and enjoy with something you want to regularize) but I don't have the book yet, so I don't know how the stacking is supposed to work (as a trigger to start? as a reward? as an envelope (half before / half after?) ) I read "The power of…
  • Someone mentioned the book "Atomic Habits" in the February "What's on your mind?" thread. Mentioning it again, because I would like to hear how others have come up with ways to support new habits until they become ... unthinking habits, really. Just "what / how I auto-do things" I put myself on the library waiting list for…
  • I work in Branch-level Shared Business Services (over-all we we are the grouped Branch Single Window interfaces between Operational Directorates and Corporate Business / Admin Services (HR, Contracts, Finance, the kind of "keep the business running" activities that ALL businesses do, in order to keep the operational units…
  • I have been MIA from UAC for a while, but other factors have finally settled down. Time to get back to what I know works.
  • My plan by the end of the weekend is to finish sewing the waistband on a skirt (diminishing the clutter of uncompleted projects) and getting all sewing paraphernalia neatly contained in one place. Allowing me me relocate off-season clothes into two newly-emptied tall-boy drawers in my bedroom. And do a "Route out ROT" pass…
  • talking to my friend on the phone while I was on my exercise bike and she walked her dog, then tidied her kitchen and started her dishwasher (we were both on ear-buds)
  • Goal is consistently getting 6000+ steps in my day (in addition to my stationary-bike "commute home from work") This will translate into all-around more non defined-exercise general activity in the course of a day.
  • Thank you @RubyRed427 , @Gisel2015 , and @RetiredAndLovingIt for the pattern rehoming ideas. I will be checking out the www.sprucecrafts.com site in more detail, as it seems to have content of interest in more than one of my "craft and/or aspire-to craft " categories.
  • I will be applying "keep only what brings you joy" to my sewing patterns. Keeping only those that are sized to my current measurements, and FROM that pile, keep only those that will make up into something I would wear at this point in my life (some patterns have been in my possession for a very long time - and I am just…
  • Once I started pulling all my sewing paraphernalia together, I realized that I am about to totally empty two whole drawers in my tall-boy simply by relocating. That means plenty of space to move the off-season clothes out of the spare room and put all in the same room. THEN I will start the Kondo "start with choosing which…
  • Happy Mardi Gras (one day late)! It took me a while to figure out that it was Mardi Gras. aka Shrove Tuesday / day before Ash Wednesday and the 1st day of Lent. When I realized it was Mardi Gras, it reminded me of a suggestion one of my coworkers had about Lent. Instead of giving something up, give something. The…
  • I am on the library waiting list for Atomic Habits audio book.
  • 55 bags to Goodwill is very impressive! And "cluttered" is really more about how you define the decorating style you are going for, whether you have made room for where your life is NOW, and where you plan to take it. Not everyone is a minimalist. I'd be more interested to know if .... in the 5 years since, the volume of…
  • First next mini-goal is to get back to consistently STAYING under 140 (BMI index 25.something - barely overweight for age and height); then staying under 138 (out of BMI overweight / very top edge of Normal; then stay steady above / below 135 (so 137.9 highest to 133.1 lowest) given normal fluxuations. This morning I was…
  • logging everything (third day in a row now) - mostly pre-logging then final refine tweek after supper to see what evening snacks might fit in today's quota. 70 minutes on the stationary bike in the basement "commute from work time" (work from home for 11 months now) means LOTs of snack options available, yet plenty of…

  • Gratitude list for Dec 12 * It's Saturday, so I got to sleep in * The exercise bike in the basement (~ 275 calories burned in 30 minutes) * Bulk Barn hasn't run out of spiced eggnog flavoured coffee beans yet .... (was able to get a second batch of them yesterday)

  • Gratitude List Dec 11 Thoughts from taking BiL to hospital for MRI-test yesterday* OHIP (provincial health insurance plan) covers MRI and CT-scan testing * His was the first appointment of the day, so no traffic to get to the hospital in jig time - home again by 8:00 am * Tim Hortons NEAR the hospital was open by 6:00 am…
  • I am making a commitment starting tonight (after work) to stationary bike-time. During my 3-calendar-weeks StayCay starting next Friday evening, I will probably also commit to more steps in my day ... since it will become possible (temporarily) to get out the front door in daylight hours. And while I am doing that, I will…
  • Is there a (physical) reason for dropping the resistance bands or core for a bit? you mentioned something about "depending on pain levels" earlier on this page, but I can't look back farther to see what area (if you mentioned in the early days) without losing what I have already typed. I wouldn't want to suggest "how about…

  • less exercise today because I overslept this morning (so no time even for a short 7 minute pilates) and have to turn in extra-early because of extra-early med appointment to get bil delivered to.
  • did a further 30 minutes on the bike after supper
  • last night over 30 minutes on the stationary bike over-slept this morning (forgot to set the alarm, and surprisingly fell back asleep )
  • used my stationary recumbent bike in the basement before work today (20 minute minimum finished) now for the rest of the points ... including today .... 9 work-days and counting till StayCay time!
  • Daily Gratitude Dec 8 * 10 calendar-days till i start my Holly Daze break * direct-report manager specifically instructed me to ease my over-stressing on perceived deadlines where the input needed to get it off my desk is outside my control * the stationary recumbent bike in the basement (I spontaneously used it while…
