  • http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/753 Amazballs-- I haven't worked out a way to use less/other sugar yet, but it's incredible. Highly recommend (you can use coconut oil in the glaze instead of milk too, which does work and is super delicious). And editing to add that I *haven't* tried using coconut milk, but I bet…
  • Yam chips :) Mashed yams also freeze well.
  • I've done a complete elimination diet and that was a much better test for me-- nightshades and I get along fine, dairy digests well but bugs my skin, etc. My husband went the lab route (which was easier) and was happy, but they didn't test for quite as much and some things, we've just had to learn over time because you…
  • Doesn't seem to have improved things so far for me, but eh. There are worse things than not having a period, ever (despite being on BCP). I just figure that if I don't get pregnant by the time I'm 35, I won't have kids. I'm pretty cool with that-- kids are as much of an inconvenience as they are wonderful, so... I'm good…

  • That wins for best dinner idea :)
  • We pay $320/month for personal training (google slow burn fitness) because it works for us. That said, we both work, and while it could go to savings or paying some debt down, it's worth it to us. Alternatively, you could probably save up and join for a month or two, to get the movement patterns down and then continue on…
  • Portabella mini pizzas. Take your beef, carrots, celery, onions, green pepper and tomatoes and make a meat sauce, fill the portabellas and top with random cheeses.
  • I think I need a new kitchen toy :P I bet you could also use it for homemade push pops. Or meatsicles. Or popsicchini. Gods, I am finding all sorts of ways to torment loved ones at meal time. :) (Thanks, needed the mental break!)
  • Feel free to add me :)
  • Interesting... I will try this, but I'm kind of skeptical about the texture. Hmm... may have found a use for the remaining chicken broth in my fridge :P
  • Never read it and thought the movie was largely boring (more revolution! less running around in the woods!) but I would suggest squirrel in berry sauce :P Seriously though, I think any sort of game would do well. Know any hunters who have some venison in the freezer?
  • I used them to make a jam one time, because they absorb water and jell so well... I think the recipe was from Clean Eating magazine? Tasty, but that's the only time I've used them.
  • Except a burger from Skillet, with bacon jam. Local Seattle restaurant, but bacon jam is sold nationwide at Whole Foods. The brioche bun totally makes it. That said, there are now *very* few things worth getting sick over, especially since I was sick as a dog on our honeymoon. I think my list is below: Real Southern…
  • 1. Pretty happy on 500 calories a day. The HCG seems to mostly help keep you not hungry. I have kept muscle mass mostly and lost mostly body fat. I still work out (lifting very heavy) and feel fine. 2. Don't do it without doctor supervision. 3. Everyone is different and MFP's 1200 minimum guideline might not work for you.…
  • Nuts and paleo baked goods. It's what I'm trying with my husband... with him though, the hard part is just getting him to eat.
  • I wouldn't say cure... it just generally makes it suck less. I add in Miralax occasionally (though not nearly as often as I used to).
  • MCT oil is also theoretically easier to digest.
  • I thought it was bacon? :)
  • Right now, I'm trying to stay around the 500 calorie mark per the doc. This is usually okay for me and I'm happy to be losing again. Maintenance is pretty much 900 - 1800, depending on activity level and anything above that, I gain. And my muscle mass is actually pretty decent- I lift extremely heavy, once per week (google…
  • Mix Dijon mustard with herbs de provence, spread over it in entirety and bake. My husband prefers to smother his in sliced scallions (or onions), sliced garlic, sliced lemons and potlatch seasoning (a mix sold around here). Either way it's delicious!
  • http://fastpaleo.com/coconut-milk-coffee-creamer/ Husband loved this. I drink a lot of tea, so...
  • There was a delicious sweet potato hummus recipe in Clean Eating awhile back that called for it. I also use it in salad dressings (you'll find it in Green Goddess versions). I don't remember the proportions of the sweet potato hummus, but it was baked sweet potatoes (smashed), oil, and tahini mixed together.
  • LOL I suppose that makes sense then. My mother (upon converting) informed my (raised Jewish) father that she'd never keep kosher because she liked her bacon cheeseburgers too much. Dad, being a lobster lover, had no issue with this, so we never bothered to even learn the rules as a kid (and we never went to Jewish schools…
  • Those kinds of rules just make my head spin. No meat-- WTF? I sort of understand the no nuts rule at a preschool level, but meh. Still sucks.
  • Thank you for posting that... husband and I have been wondering WTF is wrong with his stomach, since he's back to a Paleo diet, which improved a lot of things pre-wedding. Sending it onto his doc now :)
  • Silverwood amusement park was hell (can't bring food in, and their salads are all pre-pack-- at least the dressing was on the side, but they don't have lemon wedges to give you). So I ate a plain (vile) iceberg salad (well, a few bites of it), a few bites of husband's pork barbecue sandwich (which had sugary sauce all over…
  • Spanx! Seriously-- I have some lower belly flab and that's what I use (not always, but when I want to dress up). I wear things that make me feel good and feel like I look good in though-- lots of dresses and leggings and boy short bathing suit bottoms. So, avoid the mirror (seriously, sometimes I might get to work and…
  • Thanks KB... that reminds me I do also take a probiotic. I take way too much stuff :P
  • Fish oil Vitamin D (I live in the PNW... required) Multivitamin (gummies because anything else makes me sick) Vitamin K (esthetician recommended to reduce skin redness) Gabatone (naturopath recommended anti-anxiety) Kava (naturopath recommended anti-anxiety) Ovablend (naturopath recommended for PCOS) Selenium Picolinate…
  • RE: kids who haven't been raised this way The Everyday Paleo cookbook recommends that you not really discuss it initially, instead just make the change. And if they ask questions, then answer why. Or something along those lines. Realistically, if you cook it, they'll probably eat it. Or learn to cook for themselves :P
