• You'd be amazed at what you don't miss when you don't eat it.
• Clean Eating magazine (the current issue or the one just before it) had a quick guide to making your own vinaigrettes. It's not difficult, but I was getting tired of what I was making, so some new ideas were very welcome.
• Mine melts when it gets hot. The jar in the bathroom actually gets very melty after a nice hot shower :) I have no concerns about it... probably just warm or sat by the oven (usually my issue).
• I would *really* try to find a low cost doc to check it out-- look for health fairs in your area, because they often do screenings there for little to no cost. I take selenium for my thyroid, but that's as directed by my doctor. I really wouldn't recommend going this alone.
• I guess I should clarify that I snack a lot, since breakfast and lunch are not always a well respected time around here, so I usually grab food around meetings. I don't always eat when I'm hungry, but I try to eat something in anticipation of that if I know I'm going to be blocked for a few hours when I will definitely be…
• Dates! That's another thing I love for sugar cravings. Almost forgot those :) I get sick of them pretty quickly, so they work well for a quick sweet treat.
• 1. I don't add a lot of salt to my food, so when I eat processed stuff with sale (guac, bacon, etc.), I'm probably okay-- I wouldn't obsess, but you might want to track that macro just to see when you start. 2. Coconut oil, olive oil, eggs, nuts, apples, carrots. These you can cook with, and eggs and fruit/veg make a lot…
• Running is hard on your joints too... I would think it just depends on what you like doing. Unless Insanity literally sucks fat from your body and implants something that appears as muscle, it's not really a shortcut. Personally, I focus on strength training, because a) I like it and b) I'd like to keep muscle and lose…
• We're currently treating this with a bowl of cut fruit at bedtime. Might not be the best, but it's a delicious dessert and we just snack on whatever fruit is lying around while we watch TV and chill out. You could also grab a scoop of almond butter-- that usually helps my cravings, because it sits heavy and sticks to my…
• My husband has gastroparesis and can't digest fat (and lots of other things) well. He eats a lot of very lean meats. I'd recommend talking to a butcher about what's about to go off-- you can freeze it to use it later and usually get it at a decent price. I do this for seafood too. I check the sale circulars weekly, and buy…
• We also keep the meal plan for the week on the fridge-- that has helped us a lot, since it's right in front of our faces.
• The cook rules the kitchen... anyone who's unhappy can make something for themselves. Granted we're both adults, but that's the way we work :) Seriously though, I would just skip making something special, even on the side, let them complain and tell them that Sunday morning (or whenever) is meal planning time-- if they…
• I might try the cauliflower rice, I just hate the flavor of cauliflower (and white rice for that matter). So unless ricing it removes the flavor, I don't know if that will help much...
• Everyday Paleo seemed to be a rehash of pretty much what I cook all the time, with a couple of new things-- the desserts look the most interesting. That's pretty much my biggest complaint about it-- my fiancé thinks it has some new ideas, and so it will probably end up on the bookshelf instead of back at the store. It's…
• Saw a recipe for collard wrapped cod, with coconut aminos (I'll be sticking to gluten free tamari). It's in the Everyday Paleo cookbook that I picked up at Costco, but it seems simple enough, and I think you could probably do with any green... put oil and aminos/tamari + pepper on fish, wrap in collard leaf, bake until…
• LOL I did the same last week! Paleo Comfort Foods looks much better-- Everyday Paleo didn't seem as interesting, but we shall see... I'm trying the fried okra tonight.
• Miralax is just a brand of laxative. The generic works equivalently well.
• Eh, I'm a geek and I don't use Pinterest either :) Now if I could write a PowerShell script to cook for me...
• Vitamin D (10,000 IU) Omega 3 fish oil Ovablend (PCOS) Adrenal (thyroid) Selenium (thyroid) gummy multivitamin (only one that doesn't make me sneezy/nauseated) Cod liver oil (if joints hurt only) Kava (stress) Gabatone (stress) Vitamin K (skin redness) That's what I take for PCOS/Hashimoto's/massive stress and anxiety and…
• I picked up the Everyday Paleo at Costco, but it might go back. Not finding a whole lot in there. That said, Paleo Comfort Foods looked fantastic (also found at Costco) should be good. But I'm Southern, so it may not suit a lot of people's tastes... fried okra is a delicacy to me.
• By the spoonful as a get out the door now breakfast.
• http://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-3piece-misto-salad-set?c=all&p=3 FYI, if anyone wanted a Misto, it's up on Groupon Goods. I think that the price is comparable to Bed Bath and Beyond without a coupon, but you get extra stuff with it (peeler and lettuce knife).
• I have a misto and definitely love it. It does work for most applications like this very well... just not in the egg muffin instance for me.
• I bought some silicon muffin cups at IKEA. My last foray stuck so bad that I ended up tossing the whole pan (literally, couldn't get anything off, despite a lot of coconut oil).
• Sigh... that was unfortunately my honeymoon-- had a slice of normal chocolate cake (we had 5 different cakes, and we cut into a flourless dark chocolate one, but I figured a little of the normal cake would be fine, seeing as how I was okay from the roll earlier in the day and my father-in-law's homemade bread at the…
• When we cracked open a coconut, I recall the coconut water being fairly sweet. Mmm.. that was tasty-- drizzled dark chocolate chips mixed with coconut oil over the coconut meat. YUM.
• Sounds vile. I eat raw nuts all the time and despite really not being happy with gluten, am otherwise fine.
• You can get packets of potassium powder prescribed to you. Husband takes them-- they weren't covered by insurance but weren't too expensive either.
• Husband and I both have GI issues (gastroparesis- just him, IBS- both). It's been improved... and now post-wedding, we will hopefully get back to it because the honeymoon was unpleasant, thanks to some serious (but delicious) cheating.

• They do have bison (ground and steak) and wild salmon this time of year. I generally hate chicken, so I don't usually pick it up (and when I do, wander to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods). I get beef from WF/TJs too. We eat a lot of fish, eggs and chicken sausage, with ground bison/beef to mix it up. Husband can't digest fat…
