  • I just pinned a whole boatload of healthy Thanksgiving recipes on Pinterest. I was looking for vegan recipes, but you can search for low-fat, gluten-free, sugar-free - you name it! I can't wait to try them out!
  • Coke. I think Pepsi's logo should be, "Pepsi - for when they don't serve Coke."
  • The menu looks amazing! Though, as a vegetarian, I might not be able to eat some of it, I think I'd still enjoy the meal!
  • I think it's a great program to kickstart your weight loss. The food is very nutritional and it provides you with some good guidelines going forward. I lost about 10 pounds on it, but then it started creeping back up. That's when a friend suggested MFP, and I've been here ever since!
  • Quinoa is my protein go-to. I cook it in vegetable broth, stir fry my favorite vegetables, and mix it all together. Sometimes I add a little tempeh for variety.
  • You've never tried to give up caffeine, I take it. I've tried on numerous occasions - I got severe headaches and an inability to concentrate. I also believe I have an addiction to processed sugar, as do many people. I've given it up, and once I went through a pretty tough cleanse, have not craved it since. Some people can…
  • 1. If you had to pick the four pillars of a healthy lifestyle, what would they be? Clean eating, water, exercise, sleep 2. Do you think certain foods are addictive? Absolutely. I believe I have a sugar addiction - once I start, can't stop until I feel sick. I've had to give up processed sugar entirely. 3. "A normal person…
  • LOVED the article (and the follow-on for post-50's)! I'm going to have to evaluate my jeans collection!:ohwell:
  • I agree it can be hard to find a pair of jeans that fits well, but I really love to wear jeans! For me, it probably harkens back to my childhood-tomboy days, when my mom put so much effort in trying to make me girly (didn't work). She didn't let me wear jeans very often, so when I did, it was a real treat. Of course, by…
  • Some kids put on a little weight before they have a growth spurt - very natural and does not mean they are fat. Girls often put on a little weight before puberty hits, too, and it seems to hit younger and younger these days! Keep telling your daughter how much you love her and how beautiful she is, inside and out. Provide…
  • I've eaten at Cracker Barrel in the past. I don't think there are ANY healthy options there! Best to eat somewhere else, I think.
  • I make this, cut it into 6 pieces and eat one every morning with a little almond milk poured over and then warmed: Oatmeal Quinoa Bake Preheat oven to 350. Mix: 1 cup quinoa flakes 1 cup almond flour 1/2 cup oatmeal (I use Bob's Red Mill 7-grain cereal because I can't eat oatmeal) 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut 1 tsp.…
  • You should be very proud of yourself! Your face doesn't even look the same any more! Great job!:drinker:
  • Excellent post! It's taken me many years to figure out the whole "it's what you eat" thing, too. What really made the difference for me was actually two things. First, I ran into an old friend who lost 80 pounds and looked about 20 years younger and much healthier than the last time I'd seen her. She told me she'd done it…
  • I have a Stevia plant. I cut the leaves, add them to salads, or let them dry and use them as sweetener. You can't get any cleaner than that!
  • Bummed! That's the only fast food I ever eat anymore because I could get a veggie sub! Maybe I should open a truly vegan fast-food chain!
  • It sounds like you have a great husband!
  • You look beautiful! I can see your confidence is so much better, too! Congratulations on your achievement!
  • I looked at your diary, too, and have the same observations as many of the other posters. I noticed you eat a lot of sweets and drink a lot of soda. My recommendation is to cut way back on that - empty calories and only feed cravings. I also agree with others that you need to log in everything you eat every day. I have…

  • I opened mine because I want to be held accountable! I know a lot of my friends check to see what I eat each day, so I actually think about that when deciding what - or what not - to eat! It's a personal decision, so you shouldn't feel pressured. It really does help me make better choices.
  • Congratulations! You are gorgeous!
  • Feel free to add me. I've done all kinds of diets - lost weight, then gained it back. A friend of mine lost 72 pounds on MFP, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I've been doing this for more than a year now. I lost the weight I wanted to lose and am now maintaining. I log in religiously - even when I have a bad day. I also…
  • I know EXACTLY what you're going through! I am the same way - can't stop once I start. The solution: don't start. I had to eliminate processed sugar from my diet completely (well, as completely as possible - it's in just about everything!) But I no longer eat sweets made with processed sugar. I can still enjoy chocolate -…
  • I noticed the same things. This is what has helped me: NO alcohol during the week (although during the summer, I golf on Tuesday nights and allow myself two lite beers). NO processed sugar - that means cookies, brownies, ice cream, scones, fritters, etc. I realize that's pretty extreme, but after a life of yo-yo weight…
  • Will definitely try these!
  • You look amazing! Congratulations on your weight loss and health gained!
  • I agree absolutely! There is no better way to turn off people than by being self-righteously preachy (that goes for religion, too!). The best way to get to most people is by explaining the health benefits. That's what I try to do. Many people tell me they could live without meat, but can't give up the cheese. Baby steps, I…
  • I guess I fall under the "follow a vegan diet" category. I believe it's the healthiest way to eat; however, I do from time to time lapse - generally when we go out for dinner and there are NO vegan options. I don't disparage those who truly believe in the ethics of living vegan - they are certainly entitled to their…
  • Beautiful! You should be so proud of yourself for achieving so much!
