The force is being recalled. So if that's the one you want, you should wait until the skin irritation issue is resolved. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2014/02/21/fitbit-force-recall/5699549/

Will she be on narcotic painkillers? If so, you might want to make foods with a lot of fiber, as anesthesia+narcotics = massive constipation in many people.

Going to a class where the instructor will watch and correct your form is quite important. Otherwise you could make things worse trying some of the poses.

Your TDEE before exercise is probably somewhere around 1600-1800 so that means if you just eat 1200 calories a day and did no exercise, you'd be losing somewhere around 1lb per week. This is assuming you have a desk job. By exercising 400 calories and eating back 300, it will be more like 1.2 lbs. HOWEVER, your number of…

Try some romanesco / romanesco broccoli. It's pretty similar to cauliflower, despite its name, but looks a lot cooler.

I rarely eat back the full amount. I think of it more like, using MFP's calculations I will lose 1 lb per week minimum. If I can lose more, great. If not, no big deal. I don't believe in strictly keeping it close to 0 every day. The amount you chose to lose was arbitrary anyway. If I had chosen 1.5 lb or 2 lb instead of…

Make sure you aren't holding your breath. Exhaling naturally contracts some of your core muscles.

It's a life pattern thing for me. I eat more on weekends. And it's harder for me to meet my caloric target if I try to maintain the same calorie deficit every day of the week. So instead I have a larger deficit monday through thursday in order to buffer a bit for friday and saturday. With sundays now being my long runs, I…

I've trained through sore quads often. There are some muscles I will not continue to work out if sore, but quads are not one of them.

For a 60 minute run the difference for me is usually at least 200 calories between what my HRM or any app attached to the HRM reports compared to MFP, depending on my level of exertion.

When I'm struggling with the pressure of the weight loss routine, I let the calorie counting fall and just focus on exercise. When I don't exercise, my entire mental state and physical state suffer greatly. I am sluggish, moody, and don't feel like doing anything (including exercise). When I'm back in a good place again, I…

Sort of related, kind of. My friend works with a guy who really wanted to go to a concert. He asked for time off and was denied. As such, he decided to call in sick that day. However, he knew he wouldn't get away with it since he'd already asked for time off, so he concocted a plan to use ipecac to induce vomiting at work…

Yes, I am certain you are right. Even if properly fitted, though, I think I would need a good cyclometer and an ipad mount.

I am certain my coworkers think I'm making some of my reasons for needing time off up. Many of them have to do with my cat. For example: 1. He once clawed open the draw to my nightstand and then somehow caused it to topple onto his head after that. He seemed sluggish so I took him to the vet and stayed home to monitor him…

I am not sure, really. I didn't figure it out until after I had run a half marathon. And then I took a lot of time off from running anyway (about 1 month). When I started up, it was in a shoe with more support (I had run the half in five fingers), and it never happened again. I think the heel pain went away within a week,…

Kudos if you can keep at it. I'm pretty good at maintaining exercise routines and dealing with boredom while exercising, but a bike trainer is the exception. When I'm out in the world on my bike, I'm giddy and having too much fun to bother caring about how uncomfortable it is to be on a bike. When I'm indoors on a trainer,…

I would not assume it is related to how hard you are landing. I had plantar fasciitis due to ankle issues. For a long time I thought it was just my heels hurting from landing on them incorrectly towards the end of a run too. It wasn't -- it was plantar fasciitis. My right foot collapses inward / pronates and it took a more…

Specifically for tea, you could try tea varieties that are naturally sweeter, such as jasmine varieties. Jasmine pearl greens are among my favorites. Or jasmine oolong. Otherwise, if you are looking for low glycemic stuff, stevia, honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar all worth considering, in my opinion.

Congrats! I remember how great that felt the first day! But then the next day I was up a bit due to the natural fluctuations of diet, water, and so forth. :( Eventually at some point a few weeks later I remember weighing myself for two weeks and never seeing a 2 and thinking I'd come a long way.
-
You might like jasmine pearl or any other jasmine green as is without anything added (i.e. just hot water and the tea, no sugars, etc.). It is floral and sweet and doesn't need much.
-
I am not sure what you are seeking. Things like honey, agave, maple syrup all have a fair amount of sugar and aren't going to solve your problem if you are trying to reduce the sugar stat. Are you looking for things with a lower glycemic index so that you don't have an insulin spike or something?

Which is it? TA or Assistant Professor? Assistant professor and TA are way different. A TA is usually a grad student. An assistant professor is usually someone with a PhD who was hired by the university on a tenure track job but has not yet achieved tenure. I would say it's not ok for either to date a student while they…

Got an Anova immersion circulator recently and have been dying to try more and more things with it. So far: Steaks - good but did not taste any better than a carefully cooked steak on a cast iron pan Carrots - best glazed carrots I've ever made. Perfect texture and the juices were made into the glaze as opposed to being…

Who are these people? I have always considered sushi pretty healthy. But, my caloric needs are higher than some of the "1200ers" here.

Wow. The nested quotes make my eyes feel funny. Soy Milk has 16 calories per ounce. Only marginally less than 2% milk.

I have a fitbit one, which is more of a pocket/clip-on device. I think it helps. Especially if you get some friends on it and have a friendly competition for steps. Of the ones out there, I guess FitBit is the one I'd buy again right now. The app and website are outstanding. However, I am very very interested in the Razer…

I would rather see her going faster or working harder than I am, because I'm at the gym to work out and that would motivate me to work harder.

Brazilian Jiujitsu. It has been essential to my progress. It is fun, interesting, and several times per class I have to face self-doubt and overcome it and have to learn to relax and become comfortable or capable of performing when in extreme discomfort (which is one of the goals of the martial art - to make your opponent…

I workout either early morning or around noon. For me, working out is a natural appetite suppressant. So when I'm working out regularly, I am less hungry in the morning and at lunch time. I usually am fairly hungry at dinner, and so dinner is usually the most caloric meal I eat.

Just ordered the 2lb two pack on amazon last week. My smoothies are going to be decidedly peanut-buttery for some time now. My wife told me about it years ago and then only recently decided to buy it while shopping. It's like she's been holding out on me or something.
