  • I bought the Fitbit about 4 months ago and have not taken it off. I love it. I have talked 5 of my friends/family members into getting this and I have heard nothing but good reviews. It's a great way to know how much activity you are getting on a daily basis. It tracks steps taken, miles walked, stairs climbed, calories…
  • The most difficult thing I had to learn to do was to say NO without feeling bad. If you don't want to eat the cake don't let anybody guilt you into doing so. Saying NO is not bad. It's your health and you have every right to say NO to something you don't want to be eating or anything else you don't want to be doing. It's…
  • I have never had a drop of alcohol. None of my family or friends drink so it's not something that I care to try.
  • Make absolutely certain you are still working on overcoming the disorder... If the thoughts of being 50 pounds are still there, then it may still be an issue. Obtaining a certified nutritionist may be a great idea for you. They can help in so many ways. Being underweight is as unattractive and unhealthy as being obese.…
  • I'm trying to figure out where exactly the goal of 50 pounds was seen or if it was just an assumption... In any case, my comment of "be careful" was intended to mean don't lose too much or be too concerned about numbers. I should have spelled it out. Honestly, you probably already look great and have nothing to worry…
  • Try cutting back on the carbohydrate intake and drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. Be careful and good luck.
  • Once a week for me. My weight also fluctuates and I hate seeing the crazy numbers that make no sense. I only log progress once a month. Works good for me!
  • I'm one of the few that can't eat them back or I gain... I tried eating back exercise calories for 6 months and gained 1 pound. After becoming very frustrated, I spoke to my Nutritionist and Dr. about this and they advised to try not eating back the exercise calories to see what happened with the weight loss. That was 2…
  • I had absolutely no intention of giving up diet soda when my journey began, but over the course of about 18 months, it has happened. I started drinking water and now my body simply wants plain water. I used to drink 5 or 6 cans of diet soda daily and now I have maybe one or two cans per week. I feel much better, am able to…
  • I finally realized that I loved myself more than I did food. I had to come to that realization before anything happened. I'm a Type 1 Diabetic for 37 years. I've struggled with weight my entire life. After this realization I went and found a fantastic Endocrinologist, Diabetic Educator, and Nutritionist. I send in my food…
  • Look up the Yonana machine. It's pretty amazing. All you use is a frozen banana and any other frozen fruit, put it through the machine and then mix it together. The result looks and tastes like ice cream. Amazon has the machine for about 50 bucks. Well worth the money in my opinion.
  • Once a week and I only record the weight loss once per month. I tried the daily weigh in and it about drove me insane. The weekly/monthly routine works well for me.
  • Broth soups - Chicken Noodle is my favorite. Low Carb/Cal tortillas (La Banderita brand has 81 calories and 11 carbs) with anything you want. You can use these as sandwich wraps, tacos, enchiladas.pizzas, quesadillas, etc... Fresh fruit cut up with mixed with low calorie yogurt. Carba Nada Pasta (140 calories and 24 carbs…
  • There are low carb breads out there. Sara Lee Light Wheat has 45 calories and 7 carbs per slice. I've seen this bread in every grocery store I've looked. I'm a Type 1 Diabetic so HAVE to do the low carb thing and this bread goes everywhere with me, even to restaurants... Just remember - Low Carb does not mean No Carb. You…
  • I exercise as much as I am able. I listen to my body. It tells me when I need to rest. Usually I rest at least 1 day a week, sometimes 2. As I am getting stronger, I find that I am able to exercise more and take less time off.
  • 19 months to lose 38 pounds. I have kept it all off and continue to slowly lose. I also have a bad thyroid and other health issues that cause extremely slow weight loss. I don't care if it takes 5 years to get the weight off as long as it keeps slowly coming off. It's not a race for me, so I'm happy with my progress!…
  • Genetics do play a part for some folks. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and was diagnosed with the disease at 2 years old. Because of the hormones (insulin) I have had to take for the past 36 years to control the disease, it has caused extra weight and has made it extremely difficult to lose. Also, genetically speaking, my thyroid…
  • Neither one. I'm happy with both of those items. I just want to get the weight off.
  • This answer sums up what I want to say. I'm another who has never tasted alcohol and never will. I will be 39 on my birthday and have never been tempted by alcohol. It's perfectly okay to say no. If people can't accept that then that is their issue and not yours. Stick to your guns - it's not something that should become a…
  • Wanting what you want... Interesting concept that we've all experienced. You want the food and yet you want to lose weight. One of those wants has to take precedence... You have to decide which one of those wants is most important and which will bring lasting happiness. Only you can make that decision. After reading this…
  • Once a week. I only log numbers once a month. I can't weigh everyday or the scale induces temper tantrums and I'm way too old to be kicking and screming in front of people!
  • Ahhh, I did pick 5!! That's my answer and I'm sticking with it because I like it and it's true. I'm not the only one who answered in this manner. This is all for fun with no stringent rules. Relax, enjoy, have fun and have a fantastic Friday. Cheers!
  • Couldn't leave anyone out! Haa!
  • 1. My mother 2. My father 3. My siblings 4. My 3 nieces 5. My 4 nephews These people bring warmth and joy to my heart. Especially my nieces and nephews!
  • 1. Work 2. Weight 3. Feeling lonely 4. Disease 5. Carbohydrates...
  • Same scenario with me. Six ladies I work with did this 18 months ago and lost drastic amounts of weight. They tried to convince me to do it with them, but I decided to go the old fashioned route with healthy eating and exercise. Now, they are all heavier than they were and starting the program again. I'm down 35 pounds and…
  • I spoke with my Endocrinologist and Nutritionist about this on April 6th. I meet with them every 3 months. I send in my food log to them twice a week for analysis. The simple answer they gave me is in order to lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume. They explained to me that eating back the calories you…
  • Nearly 39 here!
  • I've heard of a brand called Carba Nada pasta. 140 calories for 1.5 cups and only 24 carbohydrates. I've not tried them, as I can't find anywhere that sells them. I just looked it up on-line and found this site: http://www.aldentepasta.com/product-categories/carbanada/ Think I may order some and try it out. Reviews on this…
  • I log everything I eat on a daily basis. I have to as I'm a Type 1 Diabetic and am required to figure insulin intake based upon carbohydrate consumption. If I don't log everything, it messes up my system. It's too difficult to add the carbohydrates in my head and remember. Much more simple to log it and look at the totals.…
