When I tried on a dress in debenhams and looked 3 months pregnant (I wasn't). I was so shocked that I took a photograph and use it to inspire myself!

Sounds great! I started EMTWL about a week ago, and as Aunt Flo is about to visit and I'm bloated, decided I'd wait until next Sunday to weigh myself. I hope its a positive result for me. Finger's crossed Well done on your weight loss and glad its working for you!

is 1300 cals your TDEE minus 20/15 or 10%?
-
Yeah tuna is good - I have tuna salad for lunch a few times a week. I love it!

What are crudites?

Yeah there is a fridge... although the last time I put a yoghurt in there it mysteriously disappeared! Thanks, cottage cheese on ryvita might be a go-er, as well as fat free greek yoghurt. I used to have that with my granola in the morning, but have switched to fat free natural yoghurt. Maybe time to switch back. Think…

As I said I'm not great at cooking... do you peel the egg shell after hard boiling the egg? http://www.deliaonline.com/how-to-cook/eggs/how-to-boil-an-egg.html We have chickens so there are always eggs around :) These blanched almonds seem to have a higher protein count than carbs, but then they are high in fat, good fats…

This is great to read and very motivating! I'm on my 3rd day of EMTLW, hope it works for me too! I already feel much better for eating more!

I'm in the same position and posted about this over the weekend. And I was so amazed by the responses - that I'm now doing the Eat More To Weigh Less, and aiming to reduce my body fat, so its not all about the scales. I went to that scooby site that somebody has posted for you to visit, did my BMR and TDEE, and I've no…

Is there anything on here that summarises it for me rather than having to read the book?
-
Think I best keep the exercise in because I've just realised my net intake is around 150 cals below my BMR. Not a great start, need to consume more which is weird

Hi If I were you I would ignore that website and work it out manually. In this thread there is a link to calculators on a site called scooby something. Work out your TDEe and then take away 20% to work out how many calories you should eat each day. Then change your mfp calorie goal to this number. You don't have to eat…

Thanks I'll keep you updated on my progress! Does anybody put their MFP calorie goal setting at their TDEE so you know you can eat up to this and below in order to lose weight? At the moment my dashboard is quite confusing because I've exercised it's added those calories onto my allowance. This is all quite exciting - is…

Thanks guys. Today was my first day doing EMTWL and I'm afraid I haven't reached the 1771 calorie consumption, even though I feel like I've been eating all day. I've eaten 1637 calories and burnt 365 doing spin. It does make me a bit scared that I'm going to be eating more food... and weighing more not less!!

Heart rate monitors are the most accurate way of recording calorie loss aren't they - so it must be right? If you're at 80-100rpm perhaps you spend more time in the aerobic or fat burning zone rather than anaerobic and v02 - perhaps that is why you burn so many calories, staying in those zones for 90minutes (that's a long…

I've really got into spinning, and bought a heart rate monitor a couple of weeks ago. It depends on the instructor and the type of class they do, but having monitored the classes I have burned up to 542 calories in one 45 minute class. That was with lots of intervals (sprint, slower, climb, sprint etc). Other classes 350 -…

Thanks, I think our scales at home tell me body fat and water and all of that, so I'll start recording my body fat percentage. Thanks everyone this has been really helpful and today I'm on my first EMTWL - I'll hopefully eat 1771 calories, and I have spin later too. Finger's crossed this works for me! Ta, Catherine

sorry just to double check, so I have to eat 1771 calories, regardless of whether I do any exercise? So at the moment MFP would say - I've eaten 1800 calories, and I've burnt 200 calories which would give me an allowance of 2000 (an extra 200 to eat). So I wouldn't eat the 200 here. But if I've eaten 1800 calories, did…

thank you so much!! That does make sense now and I'm going to give it a try and see what happens! I'm going to cut my TDEE by 20% which gives me 1771 calories per day. But when I exercise, if I go below my BMR I need to eat something to my consumption up to that. Got it! Thank you!! I'll report back soon Catherine:smile:
-
Thanks, that says my BMR is 1435 and as I go to gym 3-4 times a week now (moderately active) I should eat 2176 calories! That seems mental though. I'm so confused! At the moment I have 1374 as my calorie allowance. On Friday (and for months before that) it was 1260 but I had a suspicion this wasn't enough fuel for my body.…

Hi, if you have you MFP calorie intake set at your BMR, do you need to 'eat back' calories when you put in exercise? I was just looking into this TDEE stuff and its quite complicated but I think it has a lot of answers. My weight loss has been slow and I don't think I've been consuming enough healthy calories, so I upped…
-
You are absolutely right! I did the measurements after posting this and it cheered me right up just got to keep at it and not put so much pressure on the scales! Thanks guys x
-
Thanks, I've upped my calories to 1400 to see where that gets me. I think it will help because I've felt a little run down over the past few days and wake up absolutely starving. I have been starving all day today but because I burnt 300 calories at the gym and have upped my intake to 1400 calories, I have 90-odd calories…

Yeah I'm starting to get my cheek bones back! And because I was getting frustrated about all this today, when I got back from the gym I measured my waist and thighs and compared to my measurements at the start of the lose and shape up programme I did. Lost 4.5cm off thigh and 1.5 off waist. But scales aren't really moving…

My RMR (metabolic rate) is 1464. I've no idea how this helps when it comes to weight loss though.
-
Thanks everyone, I'm female, 27, 5ft 6 and just over 10 stone, or around 144lbs. I'm only looking to lose 10lbs but it is proving difficult. A lot of the days I do come under the 1200 (not by much though), except for when I exercise - don't worry I definitely eat more, probably around 1400-1500 calories. I usually burn 300…

Thanks :) I know if my metabolism is good or bad, is their a way I can tell? I do have breakfast (switched to bran flakes instead of toast lol) dinner and tea, so 3 main meals. Thanks for your kind words and advice
