  • I really, really, really want to squat 100 pounds by the end of October.
  • I've had a stand up desk for about 3 weeks and I LOVE it. My desk has the option to sit, but I've been steadily finding myself standing more and more of the day. After years of a sitting desk job, my body had a little adjustment period but now I'm fine for almost 8 hours straight.
  • Hi everyone! I'm about 3 weeks into Stronglifts and loving it. I do have a super newbie question though - when you're writing 5x90 does that mean 5 reps @ 90 pounds or 5 sets @ 90 pounds? :blushing: Here's my workout for today: Squats: @55 (I'm impressed with myself considering I started with just body weight squats and…
  • Hi! I did my first workout on Friday and I'm 100% a total newbie to strength training. I actually went to they gym a little later on Friday than I normally would just because I thought there would be less people there. And it was actually completely fine. I had a question about the squat rack that I asked a very nice man…
  • I just want to pop in to tell everyone here that because of these boards and all the amazing success stories I've seen on here, I decided to start lifting with free weights. So Friday night I went to the gym and walked right up to the squat rack and started doing squats with the bar. Yeah, I was a little intimidated and…
  • I've never looked for them, but I'm sure my gym has bumper plates. It's a pretty well stocked gym. Some great advice here - thank you all.
  • I started getting up at 4:45 to go to the gym three days a week a couple of months ago. I hated it for the two weeks and then it just became natural. I pack EVERYTHING I need the night before so I literally just need to roll out of bed, go to the bathroom and put on my workout gear and I'm out the door. I'm actually…
  • HA! I thought I was the only one that did this! :flowerforyou: Seriously though, brushing my teeth if I feel a binge coming on helps me so much. And my dentist loves me. I've learned that I can't let myself be bored. When I'm bored, I'm eating. I know it sounds nerdy, but I've taken up knitting so I can pick that up…
  • Wow!!! Great job on your progress so far!!
  • I'm adding you. I'm 30 and have about 50 pounds to loose. Happy to offer support and encouragement in exchange for the same!
  • Hi all! I'm 30. 5 6" working on losing 48 pounds. I added most of you already, but anyone can feel free to add me. I log almost everyday. Good luck to us all!
  • A million times yes to asking for help setting up your bike the first time (or first couple of times even). I started going to spin classes on a regular basis two months ago and I was a little embarrassed to have to ask for help setting the bike up, but the instructor was so helpful and I think it really made a difference…

  • Hi all! Anyone can feel free to add me! I have 40-50 pounds to lose and I'm focusing on surrounding myself with super positive people. I'd be happy to give encouragement and support if you'll return to favor. :)
  • I don't know if this is really all that interesting, but I've always found it funny. I know almost nothing about hockey and I couldn't ice skate to save my life but I do know how to drive a Zamboni.
  • Hi everyone! Feel free to add me too! I'm currently trying to lose 47 pounds and then I'm going to re-evaluate and determine where I want to go from there. I'm the only person in my life that is currently actively trying to lose weight, and it's been pretty hard since people around me don't really understand that this is a…
  • I generally have an insatiable sweet tooth so I make sure to have a bag of Jolly Ranchers at my desk. I can throw 1 in my mouth and make it last a long time which is generally pretty good at tricking my brain into being satisfied. At 23 calories each it's the best way I've found to manage my sweet tooth.

  • I'd love support! I'm 30 and have 47 pounds to lose to get to my first goal weight and then I want to lose an additional 15. I don't know why I break it down like that....for some reason saying that I want to lose 62 pounds is too daunting for me? ;) I'm really good at sticking to my exercise program....my problem is with…
  • Hi everyone! I'm also in the market for some friends. I've been on MFP for a while but this is the first time I've ventured into the message boards. Feel free to add me!
