I think I know what you're talking about. When I get these sore spots, I usually take a couple minutes and rub those "callouses" or whatever they are and try to break them up as if they were knots in my back. I don't know if this is good or back for them, but they always feel a little better after doing this and letting…

Damn, 15 buds AND taco bell? Next time just buy a half pint of cheap vodka and dump it in your baja blast. :D If you were seriously going to log 2175 calories for beer, I'd just cut that out and keep the taco bell in the log and call it a wash. This is definitely one of those "log it and move on" kind of nights.

I would try a few elliptical machines to see which one fits you best -- I was running on a treadmill for a while then my knee started acting up, so I switched to elliptical and I've been doing better for the last couple weeks. Sometimes my hip acts up, but I try to switch it up with the bike.

I weigh myself every day, and I'm not recommending you do the same, but I will say it's amazing how much your body fluctuates depending on what you eat. If I have something saltier/heavier in the evening (mexican food immediately springs to mind), my body seems to retain more water and make me stay the same weight/gain…

Seriously. Those waitresses have an unspoken bond with you and expect you to be faithful to your food and eat every bite of it. Don't throw away your food unless you're ready to toss away that kind of special bond that you share between you and your wait-staff!

I know the feeling -- this week I've been doing Chia seeds for breakfast (1/4c chia in 1cup of almond milk with fruit overnight), and I've been absurdly regular. Up your fiber and water. And if that doesn't work, try some chia/yogurt/stuff with digestive enzymes (like papaya, etc.)

I've lost weight eating oatmeal, eggs, cereal, and Belvita bars -- it's all about balancing out your day and ending up with a caloric deficit at the end of the day. Weigh your foods (VERY important!), and try to get in some exercise. Your body needs carbs for fuel, so go with what makes you feel good and keeps you satiated…

Are there certain foods or meals that "trigger" your sweet tooth more than others? Are you able to have a couple pieces of individually wrapped chocolates without eating the rest of the bag? After lunch, I always feel like I need to have a piece of chocolate or something sweet, so I'll grab two Ghirardelli squares. I add…

Thank you for reading  I think what bugs me the most about when Dr. Oz or other tabloid magazines advertise their "guilt free" dishes or snacks is that, to me, they're implying that you can eat as much as you want without any ramifications whatsoever. If you eat 6 pieces of guilt-free, no-bake cheesecake, believe…

I did atkins in high school and lost 25 pounds, and put it all back on within about a year or so. The problem is maintaining the ketogenic state where your body is burning fat/peeing sugar -- it takes a LOT of dilligence and carb counting to make it work, and in my opinion, is not a sustainable long-term diet. What I like…

Bugs me too -- good post, OP. I have to deal with the guilt of always wanting sweets and sometimes struggle with the feeling of throwing in the towel sometimes when I go off the beaten path and over my calorie limit. I'm working on this (and myself) every day, and the idea that some candy bar is entirely devoid of guilt…

That makes sense! :D I end up eating back a good chunk of my calories most days (that's part of my motivation to keep going to the gym, lol), so I net between 1900-2200 most days when I'm able to log honestly. It's hard when I eat out, but I do my best to approximate and keep logging even on "off" days.

Hit my 1st goal today and starting to transition into maintenance. Feel free to send me a friend request/message -- I just upped my calories, so it's trial and error time!

Hm, stupid question here, but I'm a little confused: Are you guys NETTING 2000+ calories after including your workout into MFP, or do you not include your workout calories into MFP and taking in a TOTAL of 2000+ calories? I burn between 500-600 calories (according to the machines) in my 50 minutes of cardio 4x a week, and…

Figure out which one you really like, and pack them up into single-serving ziplock bags. Eat a bag when it fits into your macros, and take the rest to work. Share the pain! My wife is an amazing baker, which makes dieting hell. The best thing I can do is share the caloric load and take the goodies to work and get them the…

I'm working on this myself. It really isn't as easy at it sounds -- I'm starting to do more reps at slightly lower weights just cuz i tend to push myself more that way, and then moving up in weight (instead of starting with more weight and working down). I should do some work with a trainer to make sure I'm doing things…

I dunno -- I like to weigh every morning, but I see the value in "throwing out the scale" as well. For me, it keeps me on point and keeps me accountable (like others in this thread have said). It's also interesting to see how my weight loss changes -- I tend to stick at the same weight for 2-4 days, then drop a couple…

One of my favorite "light" dinners is a protein shake. You can get some whey powder and mix it with fruits and water/milk, or buy a pre-packaged one. If you toss some oats in there, it will make you a little more satisfied as well. When I want a late or light dinner, I'll do one scoop of my protein powder with oats (which…

Had the Double Chocolate Chunk Quest Bar yesterday. Holy CRAP that thing was hard to bite into/chew! It tasted good, but I guess it was cold or something so it was like chewing on a chocolate coated bar of plastic.

I'm by no means an expert on this stuff, but I just got some of the Met-RX Protein & Oats protein mix because it was on sale at my local Vitamin Shoppe. Tastes pretty good and is reasonably filling thanks to the oats and decent amount of fiber (for the price). Different protein mixes will contain varying amounts of…

Just got a couple Quest bars to see what the hype is all about -- love the high protein/fiber and low calorie ratio! For less than half the price, I've liked all the Balace bars I've tried. The mint chocolate cookie one tasted DEAD ON like one of those Girl Scout "Thin Mints." Man, that was good!

I'm working on being more honest with my logging as well -- it's hard when you're good all day and then have one bad meal to just "forget" to put it in your diary and just start the next day, but this won't help you track what's going on. Sticking with it today, one day at a time :)

His name is Satchin Panda. What more do you need to know?

Hmmm....I see that these shakes have a lot of supplements and a good nutritional profile, but couldn't you get 90% of this stuff with something like this? I'm sure it's inferior in terms of all the extra extracts and whatnot, but you could just take those on the side in pill form and use another whey/protein shake for the…

Just want to say I'm right here with you -- I've been doing great this week, and someone brought in doughnuts today. Normally, I'm strong, but oh MAN those doughnuts were INCREDIBLE! I had 3 donuts and a brownie before 8:00, when I haven't had hardly anything sweet since Saturday. I resolved to do something about it, and…

TDEE is a much more precise way of estimating your intake, and if you accurately log your daily exercise into it and know your body fat percentage, it's a very accurate way of figuring out your maintenance calories and how much you need to cut back to lose a little at a time. Personally (and this is somewhat controversial…

You can do side bends or sit-ups, But please don't lose that butt!

There's no harm in advocating for healthy eating -- I think it's something that we all should do. The problem comes in the labels people try to stick to things and turn it into a stigmatized diet or "movement" of sorts (paleo and raw diets come to mind). While it's true that weight loss = calories in vs. calories out, a…

Log everything and weigh all your food for 2 weeks, and see if you lose weight. Instead of including my exercise calories in my macros, I add them in when I earn them through exercise. So if I don't work out that day, I still try to keep it at/below 1400 calories. If I do work out, I can eat between 1550-1700 calories.…

Anyone else like different sweeteners for different drinks? I like using aspartame for iced tea and Splenda for coffee, but hate the opposite. Equal doesn't have much of a taste. Stevia seems hard to get the right amount without going overboard with sweetness. Nowadays, I use honey in my coffee and drink my tea plain, but…
