  • Hello Gordonwaynewatts, I would like to throw my 2 penneth into this wonderful discourse. I appears you may be new here on myfitnesspal and possible the internet as a whole. I would like to congratulate you on still having the desire to lift weights at the age of 60 plus but more so for listing the weights in your youtube…
  • Ironically the study referenced actually AGREES with layne nortons stance on protein timing since his PHD research, so that wasn't the best name to drop. he still recommends regular protein intake throughout the day not the 'eat it whenever you want' approach. (although the timings are a bit different, every 3 hours…

  • so are you cutting or bulking? pick one don't try to build mass while losing fat. Assuming you are actually bulking then these are Just my personal opinions 19% bf is still fairly high to start a bulk but if you aren't bothered by this then go for it. I don't like push pull legs when you only train muscles once a week,…
  • Nope Everything other than creatine mono hydrate Is either not any better or worse and usually more expensive. Pure marketing You actually want creatine to cause some water retention that's part of how it works See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWx3qWrELzU&feature=youtube_gdata_player And…

  • If you already doing a vertical press and front, side and rear delt work then there aren't really any other options left other than your programming. How many times do you train shoulders per week? If this is once/twice then the first thing I would do is increase the frequency to 3x per week.
  • http://articles.muscletalk.co.uk/article-ephedrine-ephedra.aspx http://articles.muscletalk.co.uk/article-ephedrine-ephedra-2.aspx Most people take ECA for the energy and appetite suppressant effects...the metabolic benefits are going to be minimal, I seem to recall this being in the area of 4%. On another note, not sure if…

  • Unless you are tracking this persons total calorie intake (not just what you personally witness during the day/one meal) and TDEE then you have no idea how much they are eating or how much energy they are expending. I eat more than all of my friends, but I lift 4 times per week and they don't. that's the part you don't…
  • I liked the articles premise but that guys writing style is horrendous it's a struggle to read. Lift weights + be awesome, nuff said.
  • best I could do OP. hope that helps.
  • @ smittybuilt Get your elbows forward to make your forearm more vertical, this will keep your upper back much tighter and keep your torso more upright. Watch the squat form vids I posted a few posts above this by Brandon Lilly he covers this point multiple times.
  • I think sidesteel covered it off already but... Body composition changes will be a result, mostly, of your diet not the kind of weight lifting routine you chose, 5x5, starting strength, upper/lowr split, 3/4/5 day split, PHAT, dc training, all pro beginner routine, Ice cream fitness beginner 5x5...whatever .... all of…
  • read this mini series by James Kreiger on BF measurement http://weightology.net/weightologyweekly/?page_id=146 http://weightology.net/weightologyweekly/?page_id=162
  • pretty much. Like is said it depends on goals, if you are a body builder/strength athlete prioritise you weight lifting and make the cardio secondary......if you are a runner make it the other way around. For the average joe on the street looking to lose a bit of weight it really isn't going to matter much. Also most…
  • jacob wilson is smart dude. It's not really correct to say "cardio caused your LBM loss" ( remember LBM is not ONLY muscle by the way). Cardio is one way of creating/increasing a calorie deficit it doesn't burn muscle. Spriting/high intensity training is great and all but you have to consider what else is going on with…

  • this. Looking big at 15% bodyfat and looking big at 8% bodyfat are 2 completely different things. Plus he's pretty tall so harder to fill out his frame. Put his amount of mass on someone who is 5 8" (most bber's are around 5 10") and they would look pretty big.
  • People's expectations of what anyone who lifts legs should look like have been skewed by the internet/drugs/photoshoots with perfect lighting. Go look at the lineup of any natural bodybuilding show and look at the standard of most peoples legs. The freaky quads and calves you see in magazines and online are mostly people…
  • What if I already get the other things mentioned from other foods? I presume rice is not the only carb op eats. I wish people would stop giving the protein content in brown rice as some sort of "Win" for the brown rice 100grams white rice - 4 grams protein 100grams brown rice - 5 grams protein I don't see that 1extra gram…
  • I wouldn't worry about it. There is research showing at least for strength gains splitting up a session into 2 separate sessions produced better strength gains. This was talked about in one the muscle college radio podcasts with layne and dr lowry.
  • yes, only the whey protein 80 and the oats. strawberry creme, vanilla, cherry bakewell - all very nice Lemon shortcake..................not so good. • Gonna post these here as people may find them useful.....these are user submitted videos of lifts being critiqued by elite powerlifters mark bell and brandon lilly. I know some of these vids made me realise form errors in my own lifts.....plus mark bell is hilarious. deadlifts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRP0ZNFQ7b4…
