With very little insulin in the blood stream large quantities of fat is burned off by the body instead transporting it to fat cells. Without enough insulin to transport the fat the body's only alternative is to elevate the metabolism to remove the the fat. This breaks the calorie deficit claim. So you can literally consume…

Honestly, I wasn't intending to lay it out academically. As for your points... 1. Yes, it can, but it requires insulin. 2. Yes, she could get fat without eating sugar (as in sucrose and fructose), however, it is harder in the absence of high density carbohydrates. 3. Not necessarily. It depends on the macros.

Zactly!

You should read and follow the "Primal Blueprint", at least do the 21 day challenge.
-
Eat more veggies, fat and protein for your lunch.
-
Certainly it does.... However, insulin response to protein is 50% to 70% less than it is for refined carbohydrate rich foods. Yes even that whole wheat bread is refined. So tell me just how I oversimplified it? In fact veggies and fruit have about a 70% to 90% less insulin response than refined carbohydrate rich foods.

You could, but there are some vital and essential nutrients that are found in fruits. I wouldn't necessarily cut fruit out altogether, just limit them. I kind of look at fruit as a healthy "Nature's candy".

Well, sugar can be a problem. Sugar raises insulin and insulin promotes storage to fat cells (although insulin is vital to health). If you can keep your insulin reasonably low and steady it will smooth out many things. Not to mention, frequent large spikes in insulin doesn't bode well for the body. I would say "Plenty of…

The fat isn't the issue. If your carbs are high, the body will use what it needs immediately of the carbs (they are quick to metabolize) and with all that insulin swirling in the blood the remaining carbs and pretty much all the fat you consumed will be stored in fat cells. So in my opinion, you need to cut down on the…

Absolutely! Primal Blueprint!

I did something like that this past weekend for my wife and I. 2 cups unsweetened almond milk 2 tbsp 100% unsweetened cocoa 4 tsp Stevia extract 1 large banana 5 oz of fresh pineapple 2 oz of fresh strawberries Throw in some ice and blend. It worked for me. She like it OK, but it really didn't do it for her.
-
I couldn't do it either! ;) Dark chocolate, yes, but Milky Way bars...? They would be gone before the day was over. Same thing with ice cream. I just quit it all cold turkey. They are my triggers.
-
LOL It probably won't be too long before you can get it. It just came out here.
-
Funny you mentioned the mini chocolate bar. My wife swears that one of those little Hershey bars works for her. She will adds it to her daily calories. It works for her. We are both doing the primal lifestyle.

It is that new flavoring to add to water that comes in several flavors. I believe it is 0 calorie. My wife and kids love it. Me personally I prefer my water straight. ;) http://www.kraftbrands.com/mio/

That all sounds great to me! I just have to get fit enough for it. My goal is to work in that direction and hopefully participate in a Spartan Sprint or Tough Mudder in 2013 or 2014 (Provided the world still exists after Dec 21st 2012), depending on where I am at in February or March of 2013. If I am not ready in 2013 then…

Try drinking water with a couple drops of Mio in it. For the chocolate craving... Dark Chocolate (90%). It is not as sweet, doesn't seem to trigger that craving, and satisfies without eating much of it. You should try to ween yourself off most of the processed stuff and eat plenty of meat, veggies, and fruit. Just be sure…

Hey I didn't see this post. I looked it up and this looks nice. I added to my list on Amazon. I might have to get them sometime. Thanks for posting.

Maybe I will just stick with my wired headset. I was only considering it for when I am out walking. I use one of those sports armbands for my smartphone when I am out walking. For normal smartphone headset use I use a Aliph Jawbone.

I haven't tried any of the BT headphones but I have tried the behind the neck headsets and so far have not found a pair that fits my head. My head is too wide and they either hurt my head or don't fit into my ears. I would need to be able try them first I guess. :( That is the main reason I haven't bought a pair yet.
-
Bump for later.... I am looking for a good pair too!

Consider this, too much of anything (even that is considered "Good"), water, meds, even vitamins, can be bad, dangerous, and even lethal. My thoughts concerning bread is simply this.... I think bread has traditionally been a side for centuries and not really a staple part of the main course. Over the last 60+ years bread…

Grain's importance in diet didn't become anything significant until humans became farmers. Grain's rise in popularity wasn't because of it's "superb" nutritional value, it was because it could be stored and transported for long periods of time, it could sustain a community during a drought or terrible growing season. Aside…

Daily when I wake up after a bathroom call, I want to weigh in at Basic Empty Weight. ;) Generally at the same time too, around 5am.
-
I would ditch it all and eat the bacon with some sliced tomato and scrambled eggs. LOL
-
You made me go research Tryptophan. +1 on that. Your statement is misleading. I will copy a section from Wiki.... You are right, it is a carb! Just the source is not really grains in general as discussed through-out this thread. That being said, I eat plenty of meat, dairy, nuts, and seeds. No worries here!
-
That is freaking awesome! That is my goal! Sir you are absolutely an inspiration!
-
It is.... I used the word "Chemical" loosely. ;) Would "Substance" be clearer?
