  • I'm a small-framed woman, 5'6", and don't look half-bad at 135. Seems mighty slender for a taller male. As another poster suggested, if you feel really healthy, then focus on weight training to bulk up some. You'll need to eat more, but if work hard, you'll look great and probably feel even better.
  • <<Shape your waist through your diet.>> Agreed. Shape your waist through diet and exercise and wear the corsets just for fun.
  • Unfortunately, the less you have to lose the longer it takes. I'm much older than you and it took 4-5 months to lose that last 10 pounds getting from 135 to 125. I actually allow myself a three-pound maintenance range 125-128 and have been able to stay within that without any problems at all since August. But to lose those…
  • Yes -- what he said. But I also do about 5-10 minutes cardio before lifting to make sure I'm really warmed up. And as someone else suggested, if you have physical issues, it would be worthwhile to have a session with a well-recommended trainer who knows his/her physical stuff beyond standard PT training.
  • Alas, I went from over 30% body fat to 24% body fat, lost 20 pounds, and also lost my fabulous boobs. They went from a very nice 34C to a 32B. Sad, but a worthy sacrifice. Hello padded bras!
  • I do and have lost weight more quickly when I did than when I didn't. But everyone's different so you'll get different opinions, but I'd rather eat.
  • Well... you could start with three pound weights if you found that challenging but the point of strength training is to ever challenge your body. There are exercises you can do using your own body weight and resistance bands if you don't belong to a gym. If you join a gym and/or have access to heavier weights, an excellent…
  • I love doing cardio, but not at the expense of strength training. You don't say anything about strength training. Everybody's different, but I would suggest doing strength training (3 times a week seems to work well) and then whatever cardio you want around that but not so much that you feel overly fatigued. And you need…
  • Absolutely. Slow and steady wins the race. You are developing habits that will last you a lifetime. There are no quick fixes, just immediate gratification to be followed by that good ol' yo-yo. Keep doing what you're doing. As time passes, you will be so glad you did.
  • I'm a bit over 5'6" and am very happy at my goal weight range of 125-128. And, as I continue to work out, I keep getting smaller without losing additional weight. As someone else mentioned, under 118 is considered underweight for 5'6". P.S. I just looked at your diary and see that your daily calorie goal is 500. This is…
  • Don't throw in the towel! I just turned 50, haven't felt -- and looked -- this great since somewhere in my 30s. Sure, things slow down but you just find a new rhythm and make the working harder fun rather than a chore! And it's exceedingly gratifying when 20-somethings say they want to be like me some day. P.S. I just tell…
  • I went from a 34C to a 32B. Ah well.
  • Unless you're super short, it looks like your weight should be more than fine. But you may be "skinny fat". You don't say what your workouts are, but I suggest you start lifting weights if you're not already, and if you already are, lift more/heavier and be patient. Results come with patience and over time. I'm at my goal…
  • Everyone's different and has different opinions. But I eat my exercise calories back. I'm now in maintenance, but when I was losing, I lost weight more quickly when I ate my exercise calories back, netting 1200-1500 daily, than when I didn't.
  • Tae bo is pretty much straight cardio. Try adding strength training to your routine.
  • I don't have PCOS but have had a bunch of other reproductive issues over the years and am now peri-menopausal. I've used vitex and progesterone in the past and use progesterone creams now and weight gain/loss haven't been impacted at all. I actually felt great on vitex when I was using it. Weight-related issues have always…
  • I've not tried it yet, but I know someone who absolutely loves them, is completely on the Shakeology program, says they help her feel great and energetic, and feels the program is worth every penny. And of course there are those who think it's crap. Almost everything costs money -- some things are worth it for some and not…
  • If you have a super clean diet then diet sodas, overall, are a no-no from a nutrition/health perspective. But everyone has different goals, habits and relationships with food. I try to eat as clean as possible, but I do like "bad" food, too. I allow myself one diet drink a day -- generally not soda, usually diet iced tea,…
  • You don't state your height, but unless you're more on the shorter side, it looks like you're weight might be exactly where it needs to be and therefore your body wants to hold onto it. I'd say don't focus so much on the scale. I've been in my target weight zone for a few months (125-128 pounds) but I continue to lose body…
  • 5'6"-ish 125-128 pounds size 4 - 6 (never ever ever thought I'd fit into a 4 of any brand!)
  • Not only is it possible, but it's better for you. I did Nutrisystem once and lost all the weight I wanted. And... gained it all back in no time. Because it wasn't a lifestyle change. Now I eat what I want in moderation, exercise 5-6 days a week (strength and cardio), feel great, and now that I've lost the weight (again)…
  • There are a gazillion ways to work out -- there's always another way that is affordable. Don't let $ hold you back. But if you really like the looks of Crossfit, do an online search for "crossfit at home". You can do Crossfit-esque workouts without spending a penny.
  • I had not much to lose either. Close to 20 total. Took 2-3 years to get 5 pounds off. Then I really committed. I mean really. Hitting the gym 5-6 days a week, plenty of cardio and strength training, logging consistently on MFP (allowing for some indulgences but logging those, too, and balancing calories weekly) and…
  • I'm sorry to be contrary, but certainly those who say they couldn't possibly eat 1200 calories a day previously ate way more than that to gain the weight they are now trying to lose. Even if you had terrible eating habits before, there are so many healthy and yummy options to get your calories in (like peanut butter). I'm…
  • Feel free to friend me if you wish and then you can see my diary. I don't log when I'm in maintenance, but when get out of my "zone" (the weight range I like to be), I start logging again. When logging, I net 1200-1500 daily (eating back exercise calories) and I eat pretty well/have a fairly healthy relationship with food,…
  • Weight train now! Yesterday, even! It will help you look much better when you get to goal weight. You'll be glad you did.
  • Here's a good calculator that may be able to help: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
  • It can be done! I just turned 50 and in less than a year have lost 5 inches from my hips and 3 1/2 from my waist.
