I'm 5ft 7 and weigh about 150pounds. I am constantly gaining and losing the same few pounds. My weight doesn't really stop me doing things but it does stop me wearing what I want and feeling attractive as most of the excess is in one ace- the trunk.
I have no confidence that ill ever get thus off. I'm constantly starting exercise programmes for a few days and then stopping for a week. How can I REALLY do it thus time. It seems so much harder when there's not much to come off.

Clean eating..it's really the only way when you don't have much to lose...cut out processed junk and if your workouts stop being challenging, increase the intensity or find new types of exercise you enjoy to ensure you're cross-training and getting the most out of your workouts. It'll come off, don't get discouraged0

I totally agree! I'm 140 trying to get to 125lbs and i haven't moved for a month! I have bad and good days maybe it's because i'm not consistent enough? gah it's so frustrating. the only way i ever budge is if i practically starve myself or eat 100% natural.
Watch your snacks... that's what kills me. Also, if your bodies fat deposit goes to your butt (as does mine), elimiate the fat from your diet 100%. That will target your weight loss to that area specifically. Read "The Ultimate Butt and Thigh" diet and you'll understand... or google it.
Good luck0 -
Thanks. I do eat clean a lot of the time but do have mini binges niw and then. It's probably those that do it. Keep fluctuating between counting caliries( which makes me obsess) and just trying to naturally eat smaller portions if clean food.0

we're exactly in the same boat
i won't deprive myself but i tend to be an emotional eater too.

Sometimes I feel I maybe need to focussing less in weight loss and more in toning.0

To eliminate fat 100% from any diet would be incredibly foolish. It is actually a dispelled myth that fat creates fat. In fact, we need a certain amount of healthy fat from our food to survive. Having some healthy fat is actually a very good way to keep yourself full. If anything, excessive sugar is more a risk than excessive fat if the fat is healthy fat. It is excess that causes fat to accumulate, not fat in and of itself.0 -
I'm the same recently I was losing and gaining the same couple of pounds. I tried eating clean but then would have a cheat day which seemed to undo all the good work. Now I'm trying to have a small treat each day so I don't go crazy and eat well the rest of the time.
I've noticed though that the weight doesn't really mean much it's more the measurements. I'm the same weight I was maybe 2 years ago but I look heavier cos my body fat is much higher so concentrating on trying to reduce that.0 -

There's your answer. Stop quitting. Give exercise the same priority you give showering and brushing your teeth. Part of your daily maintenance and upkeep.
If you're not currently doing any regular exercise, that could be the missing link between the body you have now and the body you want, with absolutely no changes on the scale at all. Strength training, in particular, can mold the body in incredible ways, and doesn't require a huge time investment.
And don't get too hung up on the scale. It's not a good way to track when you don't have much to lose. Take measurements, go by how clothes fit and take pictures.
This is the result of just two months of lifting with free weights, and only about two pounds lost: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/744311-free-weights-vs-machines-holy-crap0 -
I had not much to lose either. Close to 20 total. Took 2-3 years to get 5 pounds off. Then I really committed. I mean really. Hitting the gym 5-6 days a week, plenty of cardio and strength training, logging consistently on MFP (allowing for some indulgences but logging those, too, and balancing calories weekly) and ---those last 13 pounds came off and is staying off. With diligence, consistency and commitment. And -- I just turned 50. Through my 40s I kept telling myself that it was just my "new" body -- I was getting older and the weight wasn't going to come off and that was that. I just had to accept it. WRONG! I stopped making excuses. Not only have I lost the weight, I lost lots of inches, around 5-6% body fat, and continue to reshape my body while in maintenance. It can be done. You just have to commit.
P.S. Our stats are fairly similar. I'm a bit over 5'6", was 143 pounds, am now 125-128 pounds depending on the day, and started working out in earnest at 49 years old.0 -
Wow. Thankyou. What great inspiration. Lady intrepid- lovecd the bit about not accepting that I had to accept not having a body I'm not happy with!!
Lorinalyn- you look great. Must admit though that I would be over the moon if I had your 'before' body.
Started body revolution but wondering if I shoukd do my own free weights programme concentrating on the bits I want to work on, and use running for cardio. What do people think? Where shoukd I go for advice in devising a programme?0 -
Staying with my mums for a few days. I have just eaten a huge three couse meal plus about six chocolates and two biscuits- and I wonder why I don't lose weight.0

Remember : you are worth it, you're worth feeling better than the temporary good feeling that meal or dessert will make you feel! That's what I told myself, I don't deprive myself of something that I want to eat but I plan for it to prevent being impulsive and ensure that if I don't have enough calories, then I workout or don't eat it. It started to get easier after a few weeks of eating clean so keep with it and good luck!0 -
Thanks Jennifer. I am eating out another 4 times in five days ( visiting old home in Lindon- I now live in Scotland ) so meeting up with various friends. I'm a vegie so eating out and low fat choice is not always possible. Will fill up with side salad and eat small portion though. Thanks0
