First off, congrats on the wedding!! Something to add along with what people are saying about sodium bloat--it is possible that in the last week or so before the wedding, you may have dropped a few pounds due to stress/running around not having as much time to eat/etc. I would imagine you'll lose some weight quickly now…

I believe the low sugar level on MFP is supposed to be ADDED sugar (e.g., granulated sugar, honey, maple syrup, etc.). I wouldn't worry about fruit.
-
I'm interested. What did you have in mind?

I think this topic is better suited to a diet-and-nutrition forum, or general weight loss help, as it seems to pertain to your actual eating habits, rather than website nuts and bolts. That said, if you are eating a special diet for diabetes, I'd highly recommend talking to your doctor first before opening up for tips from…

The songs I loved the most happened all to be by Bach, so our processional is 3 Bach pieces--Ave Maria, Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, and the Arioso.

Have you checked DSW online? Many shoes are rated for comfort, which I've found to be a very helpful guide.

I weigh every day but only count it once a week. That way, the theory goes, if I creep up midweek I can self-correct in time.

I've seen netting jackets and pants in some sporting goods stores. They look a little goofy, but they saved my butt one year I spent the summer in a particularly rural part of Canada.

My mother trims the stalks (they're edible but really tough, so most people cut them off) and cooks kale in a pressure cooker with potatoes. When you mash them all together and add a little chicken or turkey gravy, it's good comfort food and the starch mutes the bitterness. It's also fun having green mashed potatoes.

Oh, and grapes. And pluots. ...I might have gone a little overboard. But it's summer! Fruit!!

I went shopping yesterday night--omg SO MUCH FRUIT!! I now have cherries, peaches, nectarines, blueberries, raspberries, key limes, mango, strawberries, and apricots in my fridge (obsessed with fruit? me? never). Forget ice cream, yo. Fruit salad all the way home.

My second dress fitting (for which I'd like to be at the weight I'll be when I get married) is August 11th. My July goal is to wean myself off the salt licks (i.e., I have been following a way-too-high-sodium diet for the last few weeks and have bloated accordingly) and explore the farmer's markets instead. I'd like to…

I'll be setting July goals! My net was disappointing--I'm down a measly 0.5 pound, sitting at 129.0 today. I've had a bunch of sodium-heavy meals over the past week, so I'm hoping that some of it is water weight and the 127.5 I was seeing before was the accurate weight for me right now, but that was disheartening. On the…

For eating: In the summer, I am a big fan of dinner salads. You can do chicken, peach slices, and a sprinkle of feta cheese; shrimp, avocado, multicolored cherry tomatoes, and one crumbled slice of bacon; a watermelon salad with feta, lemon juice, thinly sliced red onion, and mint... The basic formula is load up on fresh…

I like bell peppers stuffed with rice and a tablespoon or two of cheese, just enough to let the rice get a little gooey. The cheddar flavor and moist texture is reminiscent of mac & cheese to me, except with less fat and wrapped in a good serving or two of veggies, depending on the size of the pepper.

Monday update! CW: 127.5 Weight lost since beginning: 2.0 Still trying to keep it healthy for the most part. It was really good to have a burger and veggie salad last night, and if I had a few handfuls of Mike and Ike's at the movie, so what? This was the first weekend in recent memory that I didn't pig out on snacks, so…

Green bean and cherry tomato salad, burgers, and cherry galette

Fudge. 125 for an inch cube??? Ouch.

Personally I don't see a lot of medical evidence that "detox" or "cleanses" actually do anything. Like a previous poster said, go for a steady, consistent diet. It might be more helpful to avoid some typical vices (salt, sugar) and cut back on processed food for a little while to feel "cleaner" in your eating.

Don't be frustrated, Libby! If you had a lot of sodium you may be holding onto water and might lose a bit over the next day or two anyway. Enjoy the bachelorette party!

Friday update! (And halfway point of the month, if you can believe it): Weight: 126.5 Pounds lost this week: 1.5 Total loss: 3.0 Good stuff: I am really excited with my progress! Eating lots of fruit and limiting after-dinner snacking, plus kicking up exercise, has been really good to me this month. I also made it to swing…

So I just have to jump in and say the Zumba class I tried last night was awesome! Much higher intensity, bigger class, and felt much more like dancing than the class I tried the Monday before. It reminded me of the stylized warm-up routines we'd do in my college jazz class. Fun times!

If you're tired a lot no matter how much you sleep, you might want to see a doctor and make sure everything's okay. I am sure you're not the only one on the boards who has experienced fatigue, but I'm hesitant to recommend trying this or that without you seeing a professional who could let you know if the fatigue is…

Hello! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I, haven't logged the homemade pizza, nuts, quesadilla, banana bread, and loads of movie theater butter popcorn I ate this weekend, but although I was a bit lax in some ways, I also filled up on lots of watermelon on movie night, drank water all weekend, ate baked chicken and mango…

Find healthy things that make you happy. Exercise is easy to stick with you in a form you enjoy. Eating healthy doesn't feel like deprivation if it tastes good.

As far as fruit, perfect timing: summer explodes with all kinds. If you're sick of strawberries and bananas, try cherries, raspberries, blueberries, melon, nectarines, peaches.... Grilling or roasting fruit can be amazing because the natural sugar caramelize, resulting in richer flavor. Try cutting a peach in half, putting…

Friday updates! CW: 128 Pounds lost: 1.5 Thanks for the encouragement earlier this week, btw. The gain clearly was cycle-related, but it's hard to keep that in mind when I'm on the scale. It was really helpful to have the support and reminders that it was only temporary. Good stuff: I avoided the worst of TOM cravings by…

Sounds like there's a LOT more important issues here than the guy's BMI... My fiance is very slim/lean, but he tells me he knows how important it is to me to exercise, and backs it up by coming to the gym with me or even making (healthy) dinner if I'm going to be out later. It sounds like you're both frustrated in your…

Tabatha, you can do it! Cutting out drinks other than water is a great strategy, and I just read an article saying that as long as workouts last at least 10 minutes, you get a cumulative effect for the day (that is, 3 10-minute workouts are just about equivalent to 1 30-minute one). So even if your schedule can't fit a…

Thanks for the encouragement! I'll keep drinking water and hopefully Friday will show some better stats. Libby, I had to laugh at the thought of the crazy floors! Six pounds difference?? I'd get so neurotic... At any rate, glad you're feeling better and that your week is going well, and I'll be sending gym-motivating…
