My heart rate gets pretty high - I'm obese and trying to run! I'm not sure it is possible to really know what your true calorie burn is. I use a HRM and what it says, compared to what the equipment says, compared to what MFP says are all so varied (hundreds of calories different), that I use it more as motivation and fun,…

Amen to that. We've all been there, but if you really need to be more healthy, don't give up.

I too love the cinema and I can't bear to smell popcorn and not eat it. You have two choices 1) Eat the stuff and just make sure you adjust your other meals and exercise for the day, or 2) as others have suggested, bring your own. I will often bring a bag of my own microwave popcorn with some cinnamon sugar sprinkled on…

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!! I got my first Mirena about 6 weeks ago and immediately stopped losing weight, have had uncontrollable binges, and have been super moody. I had lost over 50 lbs from Jan-April and then nothing - nada after the Mirena. Today I am finally down 3 lbs, but that is the first weight in over a month!! I…

I've had similar issues, and I too have wondered if it was sodium intake. As others have said, increase water intake and fruits/veg, fiber, and try to cut back on your sodium. Unfortunately convenience foods are very high in sodium so if we want to be more healthy, we have to cook more. You live in CA, it is always…

I'm still fat, despite a 50 lb weight loss, my boobs are gone, my butt is still there, and YES, just like you, I'm having to work twice as hard to burn my calories off. It does seem like a cruel joke.

Consider that you are not eating ENOUGH. We love to focus on the fact that we are overweight due to overeating, but when we diet we often start eating too few calories and our bodies hang on. You do need to find out how many calories you need per day as the others suggested, then go from there. I don't subscribe to the…

You look hot! Embrace the beautiful woman you are and love it!

I've been at this since Jan 6, 2013 and it has not gotten easier! I think that we are so used to sabbotaging that we are fighting against ourselves. I have to force myself to exercise, but the exercise helps make up for those occassional slip ups. Hang in there. The more you lose and the better you look, the better you…

I'm no expert, but I'll tell you what I think. You will find that the target is around 145-159 for a medium frame. I was able to get down to about 145, but I had a hard time maintaining it. I think you've got to figure out where YOU feel best. Depending on your frame, you may be anywhere from 130-165...that's a wide range.…

Do add strength training. It will help build muscle, which burns more fat, and will make you feel so great! Do expect to gain a little bit at first. Do NOT worry about being bulky. I formerly worked with a trainer 3 times a week lifting weights far heavier than I imagined I was capable, and I was never bulky, but quite…

Comfort is key! Keep in mind that if you are a bit large like I am, something a bit more snug than you normally wear may be a good idea to keep things from moving more than you are, if you know what I mean. Most of our inexpensive stores (Shopko, Walmart) sell exercise clothes that have some lycra that will keep you snug.…

Welcome!!! You can do this! Make sure you get plenty of protein, it will help you feel more full. And fiber is always good. Try to eat 5 meals a day. Spreading out your calories keeps you from ever getting hungry enough to eat your own shoe. I drink tea on those days when I'm really hungry as well. Believe it or not, after…

I try to take left overs from the night before if I have them, but sometimes that doesn't work. Today I brought some cut up vegies and 8 ounces of grilled chicken breast. The beauty of the chicken is I can eat it right out of the baggie cold if I don't have access to heat it up. My favorite, Costco Basil Pesto Talapia..160…

So I'm not a scientist or a specialist, but I do read things on the internet and work in the medical field  When you start exercising your muscles and joints are a little bit jarred by this new activity, so they collect fluid in order to protect themselves. After a few weeks this excess water weight will go away and…

OMG, I am laughing so hard!! Thanks for this. I wasn't even looking for inspiration and I found it.

You are going to get a lot of the same advice, but here it is. Eat 5-6 times a day: it keeps your blood sugar even and keeps you from getting too hungry. Eat enough!! I think sometimes we just are trying so hard that we go to extremes - this is a journey not a race. Don't have any forbidden foods, and forgive yourself if…

Hey, I'm new here, but your post seemed to scream at me - HEY, she's just like you!! I started this on January 6th. The first two weeks the weight came off fast, I suspect mainly because it was water weight. I also have a lot to lose, so I kind of expected this instant gratification. I'm am eating well, staying under my…

That looks so good I cannot even believe the calorie count! Thank you for sharing!

You can do it!! I have over 150 lbs to lose (again). WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Thanks for all your words of encouragement!! I know that I am eating right and doing what I should be, but it is hard to be patient. Thanks again for your support.

I have the same issue! It is so much easier during the week when the days are more structured. The only thing that works for me is to stay busy and to plan my meals ahead just like I do during the week. I missed a family party last night to avoid the pizza and cake that would be there - probably not the best suggestion…

I personally do not subscribe to this theory for two reasons, 1) it opens the flood gates for additional cheat days/meals - and slippery slope, and 2) why undo all your hard work? I personally haven't found this to be effective. My body is adjusting to eating more healthfully, why freak it out with a bunch of junk? Give in…
