  • Love George Stella and his recipes. He manages some great flavors. Especially love his egg crepes and canape cream. I definitely recommend him.
  • Phenomenal! Well Done. I live in the Detroit area also, so understand the fun and challenge the weather has presented. Blessings on the rest of your "new" life, and thanks for posting because you are touching many people's hearts.
  • I notice that my heartburn comes back if I eat more than 4 oz of protein in my meals. As long as I keep the protein portions a bit smaller and increase my greens a bit, then the heartburn is at bay. Good luck on discovering your triggers.
  • I have had an acquaintance that kept diabetes under control for some time through a low carb diet. I like the low carb life style because it keeps my cravings at bay. Basically, cut out most things refined or processed, increase protein intake, and limit high sugar/starch vegetable and fruits. There is much to be learned…
  • Since it sounds like you would like to initially ease into this, you might want to consider a low car plan that I came across a long time ago. It was recommended by Dr. Rachael F. Heller ... author of the Low Carb Addicts Diet. Her recommendation is to divide your plate into 3rds--protein, starch, and low starch/no starch…

One recommendation for some great recipes using real food is Stella Style. Guy's name is George Stella, he has a web sight and several cookbooks. Love his recipes! Welcome to all who are…
  • After trying so hard to stay around 20 grams and not being real successful, I discovered for me that around 70 grams and staying around my calorie count has worked well. It is just a matter of finding which range works for you. Start kind of low and keep adding a few each day to see where your limit may be.
  • It truly has amazed me that when I up my protein, cut back on everything processed and eat my veggies, the cravings diminish. Also, getting out and moving helps. Good luck finding what will work for you.
  • You are welcome to check out my diary but give it a few days for me to get back to serious low carbing. I have discovered some awesome recipes from a chef named George Stella. Got a couple of his cook books from the library and tried several of the recipes. One of my favorites was a crepe that he made combining egg and…
  • Took 15lbs before I went down a size. 19 lbs before I saw a change. However, I felt better and more energized after 10lbs were gone.
  • Love the combination of candy corn and peanuts(or mixed nuts). Mine is Acorn Squash and sloppy joe.
  • In the past, definitely. Especially when sitting around with a group of friends where the conversation is flowing and the snack bowl is in the middle of it all. It does get easier to be aware of that stuff with time and before you know it, the conversation still flows but the hand stays away from the snack bowl.
  • Just discovered great cookbooks by George Stella who is a chef that lives the low carb life style. His recipes use all natural ingredients and look real simple. I am looking forward to making many of his recipes. Also, he seems to be able to make it real clear what is acceptable and what is not for a low carb life style,…

  • Would gladly be friends, not sure how much guidance I can give but I could be a good cheerleader.
  • When lettuce becomes the new "bread".
