No loss this week, but chalking it up to the tough hours in the gym on the weights. Total lost: 3lbs Left to goal: 17lbs

I would try going with what MFP suggests... There is a reason they have been as successful as they have with helping people lose weight.
-
3 pounds down! Finally getting off that plateau :)
-
Agree ^ I recently had the same problem... I was on a plateau for almost a month but then readjusted my calories, really took the time to understand the meaning of all the formulas and stuck with it. The weight has started falling off again!
-
^ agreed. One day won't make you gain back the 30 pounds you have lost already. The important part is not letting it totally derail you. Today is a new day.

"Instead of giving myself reasons I can't, I give myself reasons why I can." - unknown My favorite quote... Currently the background to my phone and iPad so everywhere I look!

My starting was 270 and I'm looking to be around 150... that was my weight in high school. I was slim and fit, but not too tiny. Great job on the loss so far!

Great advice... thank you for the help!

That's some of the questions I was looking to have answered. I have heard mixed opinions on eating back calories burned or keeping a low net. I feel like I'm definitely getting to a point where my body isn't tolerating the low net cals. I am thinking I will upping my calories and testing out how it works out. Thanks for…

Great, thank you!

Hi All :) My name is Val, and I'm from Michigan. I just turned 23 last month and graduated with my Masters in Occupational Therapy last week! :) I started using MFP back in August and I have lost 30 lbs to date. I started at 270 and couldn't believe how unhappy I had become with my weight. This change has been the best…

well said!

Right there with ya - just broke up with a serious ex over the summer and I've done the relationship yo-yo ever since high school. At my heaviest at the end of my last relationship I was at 270 (YIKES) but have am now down to 245 since end of August. My goal is to be at my high school weight (150) by next summer so I'm in…

I recently read some good articles online about losing fat and gaining muscle simultaneously. You might want to check out some info on all that first because from what I understand, it's very difficult to do that at the same time... especially if you are low on your daily calories. You might want to check out some of these…

My knees have already improved with just a little weight loss and increased exercise. The first few days were tough and my joints were sore but as my muscles have built up, it's getting better every day :)

Zumba with the toning sticks has been working for me... The toning sticks come with the DVD set. Found mine on Amazon.
-
As much as I hate looking at the pictures right now, I have noticed a change. Between that and taking measurements I've seen a change, although it's not necessarily the changes I was hoping for first :)
-
This site has helped me break my habits much quicker... I was the same way; my portion control was the biggest issue. Once you start tracking everything and actually seeing the amounts, it really is a wake-up call! Good luck on your journey with your son!

She is absolutely right... My dad struggled after his surgery and really wasn't able to change the thoughts about food and the lifestyle change required to make that change. It's a great accomplishment! Congrats!

P90X can actually be a good starting point. You can do it the privacy of your own home and you will definitely see progress by how the workouts progress as you get more fit. If you think you want to do it somewhere down the road, it's worth starting now.

sparkrecipes.com also has great healthy recipes... also an app for iphone and smart phones :) my favorite is the honey garlic pork chops with almond green beans. yumm :)
-
"Ease into 5k" is an app for iPhone that is also a great training program to take with you when you run. Uses interval training and tells you when to stop, start, walk, run, etc. all with your music on too. Just another suggestion :)
-
My NSV for today was my run being easier than it was yesterday. I'm using "Ease into 5k" to get back into running which uses interval training. The times seemed to go faster and I was getting farther with each stride. It made it feel attainable... small victories are what gets us through day to day :)

I'm 22 and losing 100 pounds over the next year. Would love to have the support and give it in return! Everyone I have met on here so far has been beyond supportive and it definitely makes it easier to do it together!
-
The important part is that we are here to change it now! We can do this and the more support the better :)

My dad had the band put in a few years ago. You still need a total lifestyle change by changing the portions of what you eat dramatically. My dad struggled with this and frequently had to go to the bathroom to throw up after meals because of over eating. Took quite a change to get him on track.
