Hence the "take it for what it's worth" and "not the perfect choice" I thought of another: souplantation/sweet tomatoes. It's mostly the salad bar that's gonna make it a great choice, but they rotate their soups and often have something legal. For example, if you lean primally, they had a cream of mushroom that was really…

Most Italian joints, good ones anyway, will have Italian sausage on their menu. It's not going to be grassfed most likely, but you can get a couple links with some marinara sauce and veggies. For mexican food, my fall back is carnitas, hold the beans, rice and tortillas. Carnitas are just slow roasted pork, or fried pork…

Ooh I thought of something else: what about a fancy salad. I usually makes these at holidays but they're awesome all the time. The basic formula is lettuce, fruit, nut, cheese. Examples: Mixed greens, dried cranberries and apples, toasted pecans and goat cheese, balsamic dressing Romaine, strawberries, walnuts, Blue…

Bacon  I did used to be vegetarian so I have a ton of recipes up my sleeve. I loved baked potatoes with different toppings: black beans, salsa, cheese, grilled veggies Veggie lasagna with yellow squash, zucchini, mushrooms (portobello diced is my fav), roasted tomatoes, olives for a salty taste. I would avoid strong…

Coconut milk. Though for me, I have found I actually like the taste of black coffee and don't miss all the creamers and fake sugars I used to put in my coffee. I've never liked sweetened tea though. But try it plain, you might find that your tastes have changed

Goats milk and goat cheese are wonderful, and if I wasn't doing a whole30 right now, I love to add goat cheese to omelets and salads. I live in a farming town so we have a goat farm down the street where we can get fresh goat milk, fresh cheese, or fresh goat meat (not my thing, but it's popular around here). I usually…

I like Santa Fe Tortilla Company Carb Chopper tortillas. I usually find them at Albertsons and they have the best taste and texture (not too chewy) of the low carb tortillas I've tried.

I don't eat fast food because typically fast food places are the farthest from paleo compliant as you can get. So fast food, I'd say avoid Restaurants (for the most part) however usually use better quality ingredients and you're able to ask for modifications when necessary. For example, I went to a fish house where they…

I make my own by blending a can of chilies in adobo with some cider vinegar, a little chili powder and cumin, salt and pepper (you can even add some honey if you want a hot/sweet jerky) and then dehydrate. Steve's Original (stevesoriginal.com) apparentlymakes ssome pretty good paleo jerky in packs that include either just…

All I know is CA (where I live) does this type of labeling. I've seen 8 labels on tomatoes a couple times
-
I like radishes or cucumber dipped in guacamole or salsa, kale chips are fantastic. What about some hot wings? You can bake or fry hot wings and make a sauce of a paleo friendly hot sauce and butter (if you do dairy) with a little vinegar.

Can and DID are two different things. This thread has been hijacked enough. To answer OP's original question again, no oats are not paleo. End of story.

I've eaten beef raw many, many times. And I'm not saying because you CAN eat something raw, that means its paleo. I think you need to re-read what I said. A caveman wasn't going to be jumping on backs of cows to milk them, he wasn't going to be digging up potatoes to eat them, and he wouldn't be eating random grasses…

I didn't delete you

The best IF I can muster is swapping out food at breakfast for bulletproof coffee. It does intrigue me though and I've thought about trying it at some point, just maybe not just yet. I've got weight to lose so I'm worried about possible hormone changes that would slow or stall my loss

Go eat a whole oat in the husk and tell me how it tastes and if you end up pooping it out whole (the answer is yes) If someone doesn't want to drink milk because they wouldn't have had a bucket, why do you care? The level of paleo someone adheres to is a personal choice. If OP is cool with eating oats, she can, but…

Are you talking about tofu? If so, heres a link to different carb counts in different types of tofu: http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition/food/tofu/carbohydrate If you're talking about faux meats, you'll have to check the package since lots of the fake meats can differ in carb counts. They bulk up the fake meats…

Sure it does. Potatoes, while they weren't likely consumed (from what I've read anyways), don't taste good raw but CAN be consumed as such. Coconuts are the same, as are olives (really gross raw -- I have a tree and tasted one..ick). Sure we have coconut milk and oil and all other coconut products, and olive oil -- but…

If the carbs you're eating are on the low side, you could be in ketosis which does make you thirsty. It's not a problem. Just drink as much water as you feel you need. It's better to be hydrated than dehydrated

Woo! Gotta love free upgrades

I would seriously try a cup of coffee, even if you hate it. Like clockwork, 30-45min after I've had a cup of coffee, everything is moving again. You could try magnesium. Others say it helps them but it does nothing for me

I was thin once... When I was 4yrs old :grumble:

If you're over on the carbs, are you still losing weight? If so, you're fine. If you're not, try cutting some of the fruit and see what happens. Have you read Primal Blueprint or any of the paleo books (I like Loren Cordain's The Paleo Diet)? The reason I ask is because they go in depth about what you should and shouldn't…

I would probably do a protein shake in the morning, but I'd probably also try to sneak an egg in there too since once it's all blended up, you wouldn't be able to taste the egg

Super easy! It's basically just clarifying butter but sorta "toasting" it first. Nom nom paleo has a great tutorial: http://nomnompaleo.com/post/15235810877/d-i-y-ghee

Sweet Potato with ground turkey and salsa verde. Not sure how weird that is though. I ate this for breakfast this morning actually I also like smoked salmon with cream cheese and capers rolled up into it, kinda like rice and nori-less sushi

I have it and frequently forget to carry it. But when I do, it is super helpful to record activity (walking, stairclimbing) and sleep, and it will automatically log calories burned when you sync it. However, it's not super accurate on cals all the time because it's not a heart rate monitor. If you're running, it knows…

I love "get low" lol. I have a lot of dubstep. Like, I think my play list is encroaching 40%dubstep. I don't know why but it does make me workout harder. I have listened to it on occasion when I'm in the car stuck in traffic...It calms me oddly enough instead of pumps me up like it does when I workout to it

I use net since we can't digest the fiber. Makes more sense to me that way

No prob! I love miso soup and usually make it quite a bit, but can't right now with the whole30. I always keep miso paste around because there are SO many ways you can use it. It's great in dressings, and can also be rubbed on salmon or tuna steaks.. Yum!
