That's really inspiring. I actually have a low-to-no support system thing going on, and a lot of the emotional manipulation and put down comes from my own family. It's very easy to stay on track when you're reminded every day by your 'loved ones' that you are too fat to be worth anything (I'm only 175lbs).. but it's…

I think it works for some, and doesn't for others.

Same with me. My mom also called me 'fat' (verbatim), and taught me how to suck in my stomach as to not look so 'gross' (also verbatim). Either way, I agree with this. Even if you'd be more tactful, it may still hurt the same. It sounds like between you, your husband and your other daughter, she's got some pretty good…

I go to Snap Fitness after midnight and I'm usually the only one there.. so I'm going to give that a solid 2.

It works for my mother.. however, that bright orange oil secreting from her body scares her into eating right.. I think that's the real reason it works!

When my doctor told me that I was 1 lb away from 200. I started crying. Here I am, 26 lbs later.

Definitely a noob runner here! Actually on a week or so break from a foot injury (plantar fasciitis, we think) while running a mile! Feel free to add! My first 5k is on October 6th, and I'm 1/3 of the way there!

I agree with the above. From experience, as long as you don't say 'Great job! You're doing awesome!' like a normal person, and then message them about how you wish you were closer so you could 'take them out and show them a good time'.. I think you'll be fine!

I actually have a friend that lies about the amount of weight that they've lost. I introduced them to dieting a few months ago, and they claim to have lost around 70 lbs.. which you can very much tell is a lie. I feel like a bad friend for not 'calling them out', because my silence is indulging them in this lie that…

I would send a message to someone who appears to be falling off the wagon to check in on them. If they want to open up, they will. Remember that you're supposed to be there for support, not criticism. We all know that dealing with weight loss is a mental and emotional struggle, just as much as it is physical (for most).…

Watch the sodium! On everything! I like the Signature Sirloin with Garlic Herb Shrimp, it's my favorite. 500 calories, but a whopping 2,440 sodium. An entire days worth!! Lots of water, just remember that. :)

I'm sort of jealous that you even got as far as putting on the shorts! I wear capris only.. and I'm actually top heavy. I just do not feel comfortable in shorts at all. /: I would feel crappy too, and I can relate with you on taking criticism as a hard hit to your ego. I would take the opportunity to go short shopping!…

I'm actually eating low carb/high protein right now, today is my 4th successful day and I don't have the headaches/dizziness/nausea anymore. I'm not doing Keto or Atkins, I'm just sort of watching my numbers. I have PCOS, so right now I'm trying to get more protein than carb. My doctor told me to do Atkins once - that…

When looking down and seeing my boobs and not my stomach! I knew I had gained muscle when I had to stretch my yoga capris over my calves because they were too big for the legs! :)

No offense to anyone that says it, but I hate when people say 'Praying for you.' or, 'Everything happens for a reason'. Also, 'YOLO'.

I was 125lbs when my mom started telling me to 'suck in my gut' because (verbatim) 'I look like a trashy fat girl'. She used to point out large people at the mall/grocery store/etc and say 'Welcome to your future'. Before we left the house, she had to see what we were wearing, how our hair/makeup was done so that we…

- I have PCOS, but I am addicted to carbs! - I thought I was invincible. - I got comfortable in a relationship. - I was 125lbs at 5'2 when my mother started telling me to 'suck in my gut'. - I turned to food because I had no other support. I could probably go on for days... Glad to see I'm not the only one!

My mother definitely fits in this category.. except that she's always loved my sister. Not really anyone else, besides herself. She is rude, inconsiderate, and in her 40's - but she hangs out with men my age (22) and tries to be someone she isn't. She conforms to every popular thing and person, and thinks that she is the…

I've had PCOS for about 10 years, and have been trying to actively lose weight for about 23. Given the fluctuations, I've lost 23 lbs. I am really hopeful that I'll lose the other 50-some pounds more quickly than that, because I want nothing more than to have less symptoms! Good luck to everyone here.
