My doctor wanted to prescribe me to this because I gained 35 pounds in 8 months taking abilify. He said he took it himself and lost 40 pounds (I forget over what period if time). I'm kinda leery on taking it after reading posts in this thread. Should I take it if the primary reason is to lose weight? I already exercise 3-5…

You should allow yourself a cheat day. Otherwise you'll go insane. When I have a cheat day, I eat healthy for most of the day and just splurge if I go out to dinner and get wine or a cocktail... or some kind of dessert.

When I log my exercise, I go with what the elliptical says for amount of calories burnt. I don't own a HRM. I usually have no more than two cheat days during the week. My average weight loss is 0.6-1 pound a week (so far).

Thanks! I had the mindset that eating less would make me lose weight faster. Should I be eating back my exercise calories? I've heard mixed things about this. I normally don't eat back all of them, but some days I do.

Very true. I'm just unsure how to calculate how many calories I should be eating according to my weight and height. All the BMR, TDEE, etc... confuse the heck out of me!

Everybody's caloric intake seems so high! I freak out if I go over 1200 because I get the message that says "if every day were like today, you'd be _____ pounds in 5 weeks." If I go over 1200, it usually tells me I'll only lose 3-4 pounds in 5 weeks.

YAY, I ended up doing day 3 level 1 after work tonight! I feel good :) I feel like I'm starting to get better too. I'm getting better at the squat press. However, the punches kill me lol... my legs burn so bad while doing them! I wish Jillian had more ab work in the workout too.

Maybe I'll try doing day 3 after work tonight. I'm just too tired and sore to think about doing it right now.

I think today I'm gonna take a day off. I went to the gym and did 33 minutes on the elliptical (fat burn setting) and some ab work. I got home and attempted to do day 3, L1, but I couldn't even get through the first circuit :/

I do the modified push-ups. I can't do all the side lunges either... and the squat press is kind of hard for me too. How many pounds are you using for your weights? I use 2 5-pound dumbells.. I don't have anything lighter.

Just did level 1 day 2 even though I was still sore from yesterday. Yesterday I was getting so discouraged and actually had to stop the video to sit down, catch my breath and drink water. Today, I only took brief breaks (about 5 seconds) when needed and just kept pushing through. I hope that days 3 and up will get easier.…

Level 1 day 1 completed yesterday and boy I felt it yesterday! I feel it even more today but I'm gonna push through and do day 2 today as well as a 30 min elliptical workout.

Usually it's a bowl of high fiber cinnamon oatmeal :) On some days, I like to switch it up and I have two pieces of wheat toast w/ peanut butter and a fruit.

Nope! I eat bananas 3-4 times per week and I've lost about 6 pounds in 4 weeks.

I'm trying to go cold turkey on it too. Yesterday was the first day I was successful and didn't have a can of diet coke at all! I've been drinking water and tea. ^^^ THIS!!! Although, sometimes some of the restaurants I go to don't have food in the MFP database, so I have to guess how many calories the food was. I just end up using a restaurant's nutritional info that would be about equivalent to the one where I ate.

Thanks everyone! I measured my hips where my butt looks biggest (in the middle). For my waist, I measured just above my belly button and around the biggest part and they were both about the same. Did I measure right??
