Why do people without a grasp on correctly using > and < use them at all?

Wait...you don't eat carbs?

I go over on my protein every day. Just make sure you're eating enough fiber and drinking plenty of water and it shouldn't be a problem.

I've seen every Star Trek episode that exists, and have watched Firefly maybe twelve or thirteen times. So I guess it's safe to say those were good suggestions for my interests :)

:D I hear some of them are also still arguing about who shot first.

Anyone who treats rationality as a shocking and unusual lifestyle- one in need of reversing- is probably very afraid.

The thing that troubles me most about "Elementary" is the title. Really? The second-biggest misconception about Holmes and Watson is the use of the word "elementary." It sort of makes it seem like a Sherlock Holmes series made by people who don't really know anything about it... they just distantly remember something they…

I do my lifting at the gym, and after every workout, I hit the pool for some relaxed, slow swimming for about 15-20 minutes. Then, I sit in the hot tub for 5 minutes before showering.

I went to a relatively small high school (139 in my graduating class), and I was known as a music and theater person... though I hesitate to follow that with "nerd" since at my school those were actually respectable things. I'm happy to claim the title of nerd, though, if anyone wants to give it to me ;). At my school, a…

It's VERY likely you aren't eating enough. The link the last poster gave you is an excellent place to look.

I'm very glad to hear this. I am currently on stage 1, and pushups are very difficult for me. I am to the point now where I can successfully complete my sets at a waist-high counter. It's very nice to know that with continued practice I'll someday be able to do them FOR REAL :)

Yep. Me too.

Body by Vi is a bad choice all around....for so many reasons. If you want to research them, type "Body by Vi" into the community search bar and you'll get more information than you could ever want. Throw some greek yogurt, ice, and fruit in a blender... maybe even some protein powder if you like...and you'll have a…

I buy a box of hearty cereal like Quaker Oatmeal Squares and divide it into single-serving ziplock bags with some Craisins and some nuts. Then I can just grab one and take it with me on mornings when I need to eat in the car.

With you 100%. As a teacher, I "parent" a hundred kids on a daily basis. I feel very privileged to be "raising" these children in an environment friendly to secular humanism. The public school environment is more or less designed around these ideas. I also get a lot of flack from others about how I haven't had any children…

Be very careful about polite suggestions regarding wording. It makes some people completely flip out.

Wow..okay. I was making a joke about what's likely to happen when you use the word in the forums. If at any point I claimed to be an expert, then I do apologize. Seems like a very strange thing to flip out about.

If you're netting a number of calories between your BMR and your TDEE after calculating what you've burned each day, you'll lose weight. Some muscle loss is likely when losing a significant amount of weight, especially if you're not doing any strength training. If you want to do some strength training for free (which is…

There's no reason not to, as long as you're staying within your macros- you can really eat whatever you like. But beware of the onslaught of criticism you will receive if you use the word "toning" in the forums. ;) http://exercise.about.com/cs/weightloss/a/toning.htm

We all have our own set of unique factors- I certainly wouldn't argue with that. What matters is that we find a way to stay at the helm and are willing to be accountable for the things that really are in our control.

Wasn't my intention to point any fingers. I thought I was pretty general and accounted for family influence. Obviously a post like this is going to turn up a person or two with a legit excuse, too. I'm a believer that exceptions can play a role in proving a rule. I'm glad to hear you're owning your journey. Best of luck!

:) Fair enough.

Everybody has to start sometime, and I don't see why January isn't just as good as the other 11. Especially given that it's NOW and not LATER or NEVER. The people at your gym will know better when they are still seeing you a month, three months, six months from now. I joined a gym this month, too, but for the same reason…

I'm a middle school fine arts director (Dance, Drama, Show Choir), a freelance choreographer, and I operate a private music studio.

I think there is a difference between infatuation and love. Infatuation is that nearly-insane feeling you have early in the relationship. That wears off. There may still be moments of it from time to time, but if the relationship is legitimate, it probably won't be all the time. I believe that love happens when the…

I have similar goals to yours. On days when I'm having trouble eating enough, or eating the right things, I make a protein shake and decide what to put in it based on what my macros look like. If I need carbs, I put in a banana, for example. It's relatively easy to make the calories add up quickly with a good protein…

I have a Camelbak bottle that I absolutely adore. My water intake has definitely increased since I acquired it. It's easy to drink from (since it has an internal straw and a mouthpiece you bite down on lightly) and doesn't leak at all.…
