  • I'm not sure if you saw the follow up to my post, but I did experience the same. I bumped everything up by 10 lbs, and I think I'll move up rather quickly at first. I will say I was a TEENY bit sore in my pec's from the bench presses, even though they felt easy. Simply due to lack of use the last 3 months. And my quads. Oh…
  • Thanks for the tip on this! I'll check that out myself. The iOS 7 issue is annoying.
  • Thanks! And yes , I think you're right on that point. I used just the bar yest to start with and I was bored out of my skull! Lol. I added 10 lbs to all and it was still not very challenging. I'll be bumping up quickly! Barely sore today
  • I am VERY new to lifting, but I have to add to this. I think that the OP's point was why my trainer has me doing a "pre exhaustion" type work out. Several isolation exercises for a particular muscle group before going to the compound moves. The idea (according to him) being that you exhaust the smaller muscles, to force…
  • I am SO inspired by this!!! Thanks for the share. And I loved the video. You have such a beautiful family.
  • Also protein drinks. I do 8 oz of milk and Body Energy choc. 1x a day, to give me the extra 38g of protein and 280 calories. Also, I made up some homemade chicken sausage pattys that make a nice afternoon snack at work, with a little spicy mustard! I get SOOO tired of eggs and peanuts and yogurt. I still have them,…
  • Same here. I get very mild soreness, but nothing like I used to
  • I have the Mirena. And like another poster said, I've had steady weight gain over the last few years. And I also can't tell how much is hormonal (because really, Mirena is VERY mild to my understanding) and how much is getting older with the same poor eating habits? I had it removed at one point, because I thought that was…

  • I didn't catch ALL of the responses, but I wanted to throw my .02 in, to encourage you. It gets better. I checked out the EMTWL group, and upped my calories to 1650 accordingly. THEN I started with a trainer a few weeks ago, and he pushed my calories to nearly 2000. I wasn't sure I could eat all of that either. Partly…
  • Thank you SO much for this post! I read every word. You are so very inspiring and look so healthy, happy and strong. I can't wait to get there.
  • Thanks! This all makes a ton of sense. The PT did tell me that my min protein was 125 g. up to the 170 g. so, I will aim to hit somewhere in the middle most of the time, at least to average that over time. And then I won't sweat the fat being a little high. It was just becoming impossible to get fat that low and still get…
  • Sorry about that! I thought I'd changed diary settings. It's open now. I am at 171 g. of protein, 195 Carbs and 54 fats. (so, 40% carb, 35% protein, 25% fats) I will check out the protein calculation link. I was asked to do 40 min of cardio 5x's a week at a rather moderate heart rate. Around 130. I'd been KILLING myself on…
  • I am just getting going on this EMTWL plan. I was at 1700 calories at first, and was just starting to lose a bit, and then I picked up a Personal Trainer to get some confidence in the gym and getting started with lifting. He instantly upped my total protein grams to 175/day and my total calories daily to 1950. So, once…
  • This is exactly what I do. That's the main reason I pre-log all of my foods. Same goes for eating out. I usually know where we are going ahead of time, and I check the online nutrition info for that establishment and see what my favorite item(s) there will cost me in calories and decide if it's worth it or not. If it is, I…
  • Funny! And sound soooo delicious. I will be making these soon!
  • That's it.... I am stopping off for cookie dough on the way home...
  • Hi there! I understand where you are coming from. I have had to take a "do it anyway" approach. It's on my calendar. I do it. Period. If I don't stick to my planned work outs, I'll lose steam quickly and it's difficult to restart. So....back away from the keyboard and go take a brisk walk. I need to add here that…
  • I got serious because of health issues too. Scared into action, I guess. Feel free to add me
  • ME TOO! I hate it. Sometimes going backwards for a few seconds helps, and sometimes by the end of my workout, I am lifting my feet a tad as I make a rotation, sort of like I am stepping.
  • Hi, I'm a Rebecca too. Welcome! Feel free to add me.
  • Amazing story and what a great job! Thanks for the inspiration. I too needed a scare to get me going and now, yep, I go to the gym and work out like a nut for ME and me alone. I just don't care how I look. I hope to have your same success. Congratulations!
  • There isn't anything I've given up really. But I DO find it difficult to restrain myself when there is an open bag of my favorite salty crunchy snack of some kind. I really do try to make a better choice (baked lays or something-or triscuits) and I really do try to grab one portion out of the package and put it away.…
  • Feel free to add me!
  • I sent a request. I have an open diary and haven't really added many friends so anyone can add me too!
  • Fantastic links. Thanks!
  • This is SO true! I can't believe how high in calories/fat some "healthy options" end up being. I too check ahead on restaurants. Even if I make a poor choice, at least I know going into it.
  • Yes! It is incredibly painful to sit down, stand up or walk (particularly up stairs!) for those first few days. I seriously wanted to crawl up the stairs to bed for 2 or 3 days. The only way out is through. I've been at it for 6 weeks. My first few days of Jillian Michaels 30 day shred (which has quite a few squats and…
  • This is what I do. Also, I cook a LOT from different online sites, and I can't believe how many people have already gone through the effort to add them to the data base. Very helpful. I have a weight watchers cookbook I like and so far anything I've cooked from it has also already been entered here.
  • Almost always (weekends are more difficult) It helps me stay on track yes, and to have treats when I have room. And also, if I plan out the day and see my macro's are a bit off, I can tweak it. I usually have to drop some carbs and add some protein. I struggle with that balance. Pre-tracking helps me see it.
