So far in this thread I have the most posts so I am the debate king (until someone comes and trumps me). My ruling is: IP I get what you're saying and I like it.

In for wherever this is going to go. SO IN.

Nobody can see the scale but you.....everyone can see your waistline! This is a real victory!

Either eat a donut, or don't eat a donut. Just because they're in front of you, the choice is still ultimately yours whether you put it in your mouth. If you choose to eat it, log it and make your choices for the rest of the day in accordance with meeting your goals. You can eat a donut once in a while if you want.

Always at the smallest point.

I'm not sure what you're talking about- do you do 170 reps of push ups or are you somehow calculating the weight you lift for push ups? Doing push ups only is not a balanced strength program. For every push exercise, you should be doing a pull exercise (like rows for example) to balance it out. You want to equally balance…

Accurate portion control and logging will be the key to success for you. Weigh and measure everything you eat, and log every bite. It's OK to love food- it's even a good thing IMO. Just accurately record what you eat and stick to your calorie goals and you can eat the foods you like, just stick within your goals. You will…

There is no comparison, because animals are not people. That heartstring isn't going to resonate for even the most passionate vegan if they're also sane.

It's extra funny because it's real.

Ugh.

Some probably do. There's that whole urban chicken farming movement. People literally put diapers on their chickens so they can live in their apartments with them. LOLOLOL
-
Neither are cage-free. People think it means that there's luxurious farm land for the chickens to run around in. The reality looks more like a really angry-chicken version of times square on new-year's eve.

As a vegetarian of 20 years, I STRONGLY disagree with the theme and intention of this post. People can make decisions for themselves. They don't need you to shove sensationalist videos down their throats. Whats' the end goal, anyway? Do you realize that animal farming makes produce farming possible? If it weren't for the…

I would download C25k and follow that. It's a well developed program for new runners. Otherwise, if your prior distance is 1.5 miles, that's where I would start, rather than 45 mins. I would set my goal to 1.5 miles and then run SLOWLY for as long as you feel like you can, and then walk until you feel just recovered, then…

Sounds like a water and/or electrolyte problem. What was the weather like during your run? Did you pre-hydrate? How long does 10km take you? Did you eat anything or have an electrolyte supplement when you got home? For most people, unless there's really severe weather conditions, you should be able to manage a 10k with…

hope you have lots of these: Have studies been done on the hormonal impacts of blocking fat absorption with this drug? I honestly don't know the answer, but I do know that not consuming enough fat has unfavorable hormonal consequences. I would think that alone would be cause for concern. But also, I wouldn't want to buy a…

Why exactly did you post this thread? Just to bait people into arguing with you and then be rude and insulting? You don't want help, you're outright rude to people who challenge your ideas, you didn't frame it in a way to be helpful to others. How about using the blogging feature of this site when you just feel like…

Great job! That's exactly the right way to start!

A lot of universities have sports science labs where they offer services like RMR testing, VO2max testing, Bodpod/dexa/hydrostatic scans to the public for a (usually pretty reasonable) fee. I would call around and/or look at the websites for nearby universities- particularly those with hefty athletic programs.

My first introduction to weight lifting was a college weightlifting class. It was an invaluable experience- I would highly recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity. As for your knees- I would suggest trying to work with a Physical Therapist- if only for a few sessions to have them set you up with appropriate…

Yup.

I thought that thread was satire? No?

Undoubtedly the people who try and give good advice to people and get kicked in the ladybits for it on a daily basis. ETA: And those that post buttholes and then call people prudes for being unsupportive about it.

I run, or swim in warmer months, or one of my favorite things is to take a yoga class (I've really let my flexibility slack so it feels really good) and I play in a women's indoor soccer league. Or just rest. I usually have at least 2 full rest days a week.

You're going to need to experiment with this idea. The sugars in baked goods are more than just flavor- they provide chemical structure. Reducing the sugar to 1/4 the original amount might result in a lot of deflated treats, or mushy ones that won't set or brown. Frequently you can get away with 1/2 (which is why all the…

Obese people generally have high LBM though. It takes a lot of muscle to move a very heavy person around through everyday activities, like squatting to get up and down to use a toilet. They have little LBM after severe calorie restriction weight loss...not before.
-
So.... what exactly makes you think your body doesn't catabolize muscle when you have fat stores? If this were true everyone who loses weight from being significantly obese to healthy weight would be built like a brickhouse. Skinny-fat would only be a problem for people who aren't ambulatory.
