  • Thanks everyone, As Pu said, I really have been pushing hard and I was wondering when my body would physically make me quit... Looks like it happened quicker than I thought it would. Do you really think I wil have to see a doc tho? The pain is intermittent but can get pretty intense... Plus, I ran on my toes for a few…
  • Ok then Paxil (Paroxetene) is a standard SSRI which means it acts to nural synaps to block the reuptake serotonin. This class of drugs is fantastic for people with generalized depression disorder but unfortunately it has a lot of side effects among them is weight gain. However people have also reported weight loss as a…
  • Gotta do it... Bump!
  • It depends on the type of anti depressant. What are you taking?
  • I feel ya, When I entered college I was 178 5'11.5" (I like the half inch too) and I had single digit body fat %. Over the course of 5 years I gained 60lbs. I blamed it on my sedentary lifestyle, the fact that I was getting older etc etc. The reality is that college is a great time for your body to stre fat. You (and I)…
  • Anyone else have advice or experience with doin this?
  • Excellent suggestions, thanks so much! They both hurt pretty bad but I can hobble around a little... I'll try some cold/hot therapy later on if the pain doesn't start to subside
  • I agree with some other people here. At first, they are hard to adjust to. But, with time, they become incredibly enjoyable as your palate adjusts to real food and is able to taste the subtle flavors of each Just keep choking them down and eventually you will find you love them!
  • if it is from fruit and you are consuming it in moderation then I would say don't worry. If its from processed horribleness then its time to pull in the reigns and figure out what it is that puts you over and get rid of it. I eat 'over' my sugar occasionally but its because I follow a paleo diet and I eat fruit as one of…
  • I too am a slave to the scale! I deffinitely get depressed whent here is no movement or even slips. I don't think ditching it is the right course... just use it as a tool to make sure you are headed in the right direction. If you feel and look better then what you are doing is deffinitely working =)
  • Everyone, in the future, will speak with perfect gramatical correctness- apparenty.

  • Ill make it simple. To lose 1lb of fat you need to burn 3500 calories. If over the course of a week you cut your intake by 500 calories a day UNDER your net intake then you should see about a pound a week loss. A 1000 calories defecit daily will result in 2lbs lost per week. BMR is a tricky thing but not completely…
  • I am not sure what the implications of a thyroid disorder are BUT let me give you my 2 cents. You do need to eat a little bit more... I say 1200 calories or so at minimum. Try eating more fats and protein as the are calorie rich and wont, initially, make you feel so full. Basically, you wileat less for more calories. Maybe…
  • Diet coke?!?!?! No No ville! The aspartame is really horrible for you, cut it out and only drink water and then see what happens.
  • Thats exactly why I am having so much trouble figuring out what has gone wrong! This 8lb gainback= 8x3500 calories = 28k calories! Thats like 2.5 weeks of food, lol.... ochance I have eaten even close to that... and even if I did, not all of it would go directly to fat. Im just getting demoralized, i have worked so hard…
  • Reality check = needed, thx!

  • I hate to say it but the most simple way to stop eating out, is to just stop eating out! Maybe take a cooking class or two as well and make good food at home for 1/3 the price. I hate to sound harsh but this really isnt a problem anyone can help yu with, it's just something you have to do on your own by staying digent and…
  • Contrasy to conventional wisdom, using melatonin can be a double edged sword. Firstly, melatonin IS a hormone. Ingesting large ammts will ultimately lead to your body producing less on its own. Secondly, the research still isnt really there. Some studies suggest that it helps but others don't and nothing has been done to…

  • I hate to say it, but, if you want good lean protein without pounding protein shakes every day then there is absolutely NO substitute for meat, sorry. Best bet... mix a protein shake scoop with some fruit and peanut butter and drink 2 a day. Otherwise enjoy the daily steaks!
  • At 235, I had the exact same problem! It really is hard when you are carrying that extra weight and I deffinitely worried about my knees and lower back. BUT- I did start running eventually... here is how I did it, 1) Buy a new pair of running shoes. I suggest Brooks Adrenaline as they make a very supportive and padded…
  • Bacardi silver is lso very low calorie as is straight scotch... if you can handle it. Thats how i roll now and I manage to lose weight still. Also, remember that wine is actualy very good for you IN MODERATION. Tons of antioxidants and its delicious!
  • Yeah, love handles seem to work differently for men than for women and I do know that we really do, traditionally, hold weight in this area more readily than women do... Thanks for the advice though!
  • Thats understandable then... just try to keep yourself in a realistic place, maybe some more exercise outside of running to tone and tighten... seems like you are well on your way so good luck! For toning etc why not try some cross-fit WODs. Really easy to find online and you don't need any weights if you just do…

  • Honestly, i love regular, full size, shredded wheat... don't ask me why, i just do. Gotta have ice cold milk though. The nice thing is that as you chew the complex carbs break down in to sugar in your mouth...so, the longer you chew the sweeter it gets. Plus, they are mnimally processed. Many people here are takling about…

  • Serious question, why are you tring to lose so much weight? That's going to be way too thin for your frame and will take a TON of work to maintain! In fact, you are already at the low end (based on BMI) for a woman of your height with a light frame... careful or you will cause more problems than you fix! Trying to live up…
  • I would see a physician... It could be something cardiogenic OR as simple as exercise induced asthma... if you are exercising a lot and still having trouble breathing you might just want to play it safe. Good luck!
  • My paleo breakfast consists of fruit and meat. I usually eat 2 plums, or 1 grapefruit, or an apple and about 250 cals worth of lean meat from the day before... its light and refreshing and it gets me ready for my morning jog... if you really are going paleo then be ready to eat lots of meat. good luck!
  • They are both nearly identical... The only difference is the fiber. Just be careful when taking advice from a 'doctor' who is really just a TV personality with an MD.
  • At the end of the day its about what works for you... if we ALL just actively work to improve ourselves mentally, phycally, spritually etc then we can't ever go wrong. What's right for one isnt right for all. I have plenty of friends who can eat ANYTHING and never gain weight! It's infuriating. Unfortunately, thats not me.…
