  • Yep. I find the scale amusing, but even so, I get on it too often... EXCEPT that it has allowed me to see directly that my weight fluctuates a LOT every day. Yesterday I weighed first thing in the morning, and was finally under 230! 229! Yay! Then, later in the day, I got back on the scale and it read 236. Seven freaking…
  • Well, I went with the first couple of episodes of Darker Than Black while on the Arc Trainer last night. Not bad so far. :) Voices are a little annoying. I'll stick with it for a few more eps, then decide. One that had AWESOME English dubs is Last Exile. Holy cow, Lord Dio is ten times creepier in the English dub.
  • I haven't... but I might fire up netflix on the phone while I'm at the gym later and try something new. :) Only regret is that it would be English dub. :(
  • Buy a bulk package of psyllium husk powder and mix a large spoonful of it in water or juice. If you use a tart cherry juice or something similar, you'll get basically the same benefits for a hell of a lot less money. Fiber is fiber.
  • So far, I see WAY too many sugars and other carbs in your diary. If you're at all like me, sugar makes you hungry after your insulin spikes and the sugar is metabolized (often stored as fat). If you can find a way to get rid of the gatorade and sugary starbucks crap... maybe switch to coffee with coffeemate creamers and no…
  • I've needed to put new holes in a couple of belts, I have to tuck the sides of my uniform shirts to keep them from bunching, and my cheeks aren't getting squished as much by my motorcycle helmet. My feet hurt less. I can reach across to the pockets on the other side of my body to grab my clip knife. Soon, I will be able to…
  • Yep, but Barbie says math is tough. I disagree, of course. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO0cvqT1tAE "Math class is tough!"
  • Once you start down the scale watching path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Consume you it will. ~~Yoda Get the hell off the scale. Look at it out of curiosity if you must, but only record (and worry about it) every few days. My scale bounces around a lot, sometimes over five pounds in a day. It depends on how much…
  • I'll bite. Enjoy one more!
  • I eat back at least half, on average. But then again, my numbers bounce around a lot daily. I have to do weekly summaries to average out my exercise and hunger variations. I've consistently lost an average of over 3 pounds a week for the last two months. I also increased my overall calories a couple of weeks ago. Still…
  • Probably did burn/drip a lot of calories out, but I sure wouldn't assume all the fat was gone. I'd log it as 440, and call it part of my error for other things where I have to estimate. I? would buy a better quality/lower fat meat and just sear it real good, then eat it mostly bloody. :) Easier to do the math then, right?
  • There's always something that pushes you past your "tipping point." You may very well look back on that hurtful comment as one of the best things that ever happened to you! You can do it!
  • Yep. All of the above. But then I show them how EASY it is with the droid app, and how much weight I've already lost... So far, it has shut them up every time. Of course, I owe my consistent loss and positive attitude to those around me, including here, who offer real caring and support. As for "it won't stick!" Well, you…
  • I've got a policy of not hurting people's feelings... If they offer more than once, I usually accept the cake, cookies, whatever, take one reasonable bite, praise it, thank them, and put it down. As for those commenting on my order, I just shrug and say something like "This looks good today. Maybe next time I'll get…
  • Bah! Posers! Noobs! I played Star Trek by teletype. ;)
  • INTJ.... Very over-represented here.

  • Indeed. That's kind of messed-up. Sounds like someone dead-set on working themselves into starvation/terrible health/eating disorder. (Even if the net IS 700... that's STILL ridiculous!)
  • 5'11", 234 pounds, and I don't have to "think" how many Calories I eat per day. Pretty much every calorie (I could have mis-estimated a time or two) is in my log/diary. Right now, I'm targeting 1910/day net, but I'm trying to lose at least a pound a week.
  • Yep... I'm in this for at least the next year, and then I plan to be "moving stuff around" for at least another year and settling into a permanent weight-maintenance routine. If you expect it all to come off in a couple of months, or even to be CONSISTENT for a whole month, you're not being realistic. Hell, a month in or…
  • If you can't TALK comfortably at your 75-85% range, you're doing it right. If you can't BREATHE, you may have another complication, like exercise-induced asthma. Your doctor would be best able to tell you, of course. And for goodness' sake, quit letting your weekends screw you up! Plan ahead, work out, log those calories!
  • That's great! It's awesome to get out and do something FUN that you wouldn't have been able to before. Keep going!
  • Read: (I went up three-four pounds when I added runs to my treadmill time...) http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/595473-why-the-scale-goes-up-with-a-new-workout-program-must-read
  • I haven't heard a thing about this. What are you referring to?
  • I find that sugars and simple starches like white flour make me hungry about 45 minutes later. Even if I wasn't hungry before, now I am, AFTER eating. Makes no sense, but if you're triggering your insulin response with sugars, your body may simply be reacting without much conscious thought, and making you eat more sugar…
  • Like others have said, those photos (and I have several in my phone to remind me) are motivational, but they do tend to "push" me to a "faster, faster" kind of mentality. I just can't stand being this size, and I want it to change. Steady, solid changes in diet and exercise are what works. Always have. What's helped me the…
  • That is EXCELLENT! You look great!
  • This. That's scary advice. Family is the most important thing you have. Figuring out ways to work with them should be very high on your list of priorities. Plus, it's a good training ground for dealing with the world. If you can eat reasonably in that environment, you can eat reasonably anywhere. Cutting yourself off from…
