I just came.

Fist-pump for simultaneous pizza and beer nights!

For some reason, I always get a little shy of logging if I've had a sneaky McDs. I only them once a month or so, but I see the calorie count and think "eeeeh, could have had SO much more for that!" Also; my custard cream consumption can border on insane.

My diet is far from perfect, but it's largely nourishing and good for my body. But I have friends who are convinced you can out-exercise a sh*tty diet. If they do lose weight, it's a case of losing DESPITE their diet, rather than because of it. When I eat healthily in front of some friends, they just don't get it - they…

Um. Bloody love you.

First and foremost - enjoy! Take with you? Wear comfy clothes, and take a towel and plenty of water. Make sure your shoes don't have too much tread, either - there's a lot of twisting and pivoting moves in zumba, and too much tread will hurt your knees. There's plenty of videos on YouTube if you want to get a flavour of…

I used to be painfully shy in a baggy t-shirt at the back of the zumba class I would attend. Now? I'm an instructor with my own regular class, shouting encouragement to girls like me.

Oh, on second thoughts - really irks me that it's advertised as a healthy breakfast option for kids. Since when was chocolate spread a particularly healthy way to start the day? Delicious, yes. Healthy...IT'S GOT NUTS IN SO MUST BE HEALTHY YES/YES.
-
Nutella...why oh why... - are you readily available? - are you cheap? - are you able to be eaten without cutlery? - are you not a health food? - are you laced with crack? - ARE YOU SO EFFING DELICIOUS

Bump. Am in a very similar boat to you - lost the vast majority of my weight through intense cardio, but my shape has changed massively since lifting heavy. Will watch this with interest!
-
The question has been sufficiently answered so...heeeee, I didn't half giggle at this thread title!
-
On a slightly different tack - don't pack it in. You'll have wasted any progress you will have made so far. Keep at it - the time will pass anyway.

True, innit? MTFU.

Oooooh. Also, this. I know it doesn't apply to anyone but when my self-esteem was around my ankles, the behaviour I would tolerate was frankly ridiculous. Now? Betchslapping anyone into next week should they try such a stunt. Be mindful of those changing standards and patterns in behaviour. They can take you by surprise!

Bore da pawb! I'm loving not hating myself any more. Whoomp, there it is.

I moved back to my hometown a few years ago, heartbroken after the breakdown of a relationship. Said unhappines + being in a bad relationship = eating my feelings for years. So, I was a fatty. And didn't I know it. My well-meaning friends suggested online dating to 'get myself out there' and boost my ego a little. I…

I used to be a G cup when I was obese, and now I'm struggling to fill a D. Not much that can be done about that, bar stopping losing weight - and personally that's not an option! I found that lifting heavy weights has certainly helped with the shape and perkiness at least - so they're not quite as deflated-looking as they…

First and foremost - enjoy :) I tell my classes that, provided you're moving and your heart's pumping, then that's all that matters. I wouldn't worry about looking up moves or anything like that - firstly, the moves and routines will vary from instructor to instructor. If it would make you feel a little more assured…

Some stellar advice in this thread - if you did go, I hope you enjoyed it! I've started spinning again after a little break (my favourite instructor has taken a new class - honestly, anyone who plays 'Painkiller' by Noize Suppressors and 'Run With The Wolves' by the Prodigy in the same session is a goddess to me) and I…

Luuuuuunch!

I'd make 'em come to my zumba class, lift some weights, and then we will eat PIZZAANDBEER.
-
Oh, oh. Yes. Also this lady.

A combination, but primarily...me. No-one else will shift my bum off the sofa and get me shaking it/squatting it/deadlifting it, so. I've got to want to do it. My Mum. I had a horrible fear of dying before her of Fat (i.e. heart failure, stroke, anything related to my weight) and her being on her own. All because I…

Completely disregarding the trollish nature of this post, I'm glad to see I'm not alone in the appreciation for Britney's physique. I mean, the woman's had two kids - she's got a better body than me and the only baby I was ever pregnant with was constructed entirely of food. I've always thought that Britney appeared to…

Hello! Luuuuurve zumba. Started in September 2010, and now am a qualified instructor :) Went from 16 stone (224lb) to just over 10 stone (141lb). Largely zumba, but strength training has played a significant part in shaping up the last bits and bobs over the past six months.
-
Oh wow, thank you so much. What lovely words. Got to say, I very much enjoyed the little bit of poundage! Mmmm mince pies... All the best, and thank you again for the compliment x

I'm always overwhelmed by the responses on these kind of threads. Thank you so much, again. Hi there! I've always been a cardio bunny - which helped zap the majority of my 83lb of flab - but strength training has made the world of difference to my shape, especially over the past six months or so.
-
Hello peeps. 16 stone (224lb) - 10 stone (140lb).

Thank you all so, so much. The confidence comments really mean a lot; I see it as a nice photo but it's so heartening to see that the confidence is actually showing. Never thought I'd get there. And hi curvimami! Yup, God bless the weights section. Reaching the parts that my zumba classes couldn't quite reach :)

Hi Cathy! I know what you mean - sometimes this can feel like the hardest thing in the world, and I've had more false starts than hot dinners (and as an ex-fatty, that's a lot of hot dinners). Exercise-wise, I started off as a cardio freak before progressing almost exclusively onto zumba and kettlebells. Over the past six…
