  • Since I had my daughter and started breastfeeding I have been researching food like a crazy person. I have now become what a lot of people think of as a total hippie, lol. I used to be a diet coke drinker and splenda user, but no more. The only sweeteners I feel comfortable using are sugar, stevia and xylitol. I prefer…
  • We cook a large meal on Sunday and eat it for dinner through the week, then do something easy on Friday and Sat like quasadillas or pizza. I also bake muffins and other healthy stuff to freeze. That way we have some variety for sweets without anything going bad. Lunch is always a wrap or something else quick and we really…
  • I have several heavy smokers in my family and in my husbands and had this issue when my daughter was a baby. I was also a heavy smoke prior to becoming pregnant. Anytime one of these people wanted to hold her I asked them to either change thier shirt or drape a blanket over all clothing the baby would be exposed to (I…

  • This. I plan to eat 2500 calories for the second and third trimesters and I am at goal weight.
  • I agree with both of these. It is amazing how far a little prevention can go. We take my daughter's buzz lightyear "rescue pack" (or throw these things in a diaper bag) with us when we are going to be out longer than a few minutes. It contains a drink, snack and a toy. I usually bring at least one snack I know she really…
  • Yes, excellent. I lose on 2100 and mantain around 2300 and I am 5'4" and 138. 1200 is unnessary in my opinion, especially if you work out at all. Why suffer?
  • This is pretty much me, too. Healing my relationship with food has been more of an accomplishment than the weight loss. I am now confident that I can not only keep the weight off, but recover from having another baby quickly. I agree with a poster above that said it is amazing how the body feels when you take care of it.…
  • You both look amazing and incredibly happy!! Spousal support is almost vital. My husband is naturally on the thin side, but has been amazing through this entire process and is also much healthier as a result. I am sure it has made you a stronger and happier family over all. Beautiful children by the way!
  • This tickled me as I envisioned puching people in the face for offering me brownies. BAM - Merry Chrismtas! hahahahaha
  • Actually, Hygeia pumps are one of the only ones recoomended to re-sale because they are a closed system pump. Medela's pump is an open system pupm, which means there is a risk of cross contamination from another user or even mold. They are also not recommended for more than one baby. You can google open vs closed system…
  • I have multiple herniations and was told I needed a double fusion when I was 18 (almost 30 now) and I lift. I have not yet had the surgery. I am with everyone else with the recommendation that you speak with a doc, but wanted to share what I found since it is working pretty well for me. I do a three day split routine I…
  • Basically this. I eat every three hours, so I rarley get hungry at my desk. I also have a decent calorie allowance (2100), so that avoids a LOT of these type of issues for me, too.
  • I will start trying in January. Getting super excited and will def have to check out that tea. I am a super crunchy mama now, so prefer anything natural. Thanks for the heads up!

  • Yes, this. I do not spend a lot of time in the forums and I have noticed.
  • I cannot tell you how awesome that would be!! I will have no problem eating all of them. nomnomnomnomnomnom
  • Just thought I would chime in and agree with the original post as well. I am 5'4" and 138... three pounds from goal. I have broken every plateau by increasing my calories and am actually still losing at 2100 per day. I work out pretty consistsantly and from the very beginning of this process I have never netted below 1500…
  • I agree. Increase your calories and problem solved! Heck, you could probably eat even more fruit. Win-WIn.
  • This! You can also use the Scooby site below and plug your number sin, it does all of the math for you. Please be sure to at least eat above your BMR, especially if you are breastfeeding. http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
  • This. This all day long. Thank you for saying it and expressing it so well. And this is coming from one of those parent of a well behaved toddler, but doesn't take all the credit. Geez.
  • I made this crustless pumpkin pie last weekend and it is to die for!!! It was literally gone in days. With cool whip you do not even miss the crust and it is less than 70 calories per square. I made squares in an 8x8 pan. Her site has the nutritional info. http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2012/11/08/crustless-pumpkin-pie/
  • It sounds to me like you have a pretty healthy diet plan, especially looking into Vegan and raw diets. Check the ingredient list on the shakes though. They contain sucralose (splenda), which is a controversal artifical sugar. Most people on a vegan or raw diet would not consider consuming something artifical every day,…
  • Jacksonville!
  • YES!!! Focusing on the positive is so important. Replacing the negative thoughts with positive ones is a HUGE help, even if you do not believe the positive reinforcements at first, you will start to before you know it!
  • I am a binge eater as well, especially with sweets. I identified my biggest triggers as watching tv in the evening and family gatherings. For me the solution was ALL in the planning. First, I commited to log EVERYTHING. Even if I go 5 million calories over on a binge, I am logging it. This helped me to become more honest…
  • This. You may not be eating enough.
  • Netting 800 calories per day simply isnt healthy unless you have had surgery and are physically incapable of eating more than that. I would learn your BMR and TDEE numbers and try to NET inbetween them. This site will crunch the numbers for you: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ My advice would be to eat more.…
  • I am confused, but I friend requested you because of your apparent wealth of knowledge!! I am slightly number dyslexic, so confusion is expected in the arena. Luckily, I am failry confident I have my numbers worked out ok. :)
  • 5'4" and 138 lbs. Recently increased to 2100, cut cardio and bit and am losing again. WIN!
  • I just came off of a three month plateau by increasing calories to 2100 (5"4' and 138 lbs). I also reduced my cardio and added in a lot more heavy lifting. BAM... four pounds gone. :)
  • I will eat whatever I want, but I am logging it all. Oh, and I am hosting so there will be healthier items on the menu as well. Looking forward to it!! The end goal is not to allow myself to feel deprived or guilty, no matter what I eat.
