  • Congrats and good luck on your soon to be VBAC baby!!! Amazing the crazy things our bodies will do when making a human!
  • 27 weeks and just ran this morning! I am surprised every time I am able to do it, especially since I have so many low back disk issues. I only run one mile at a time for a grand total of two miles, but I am ok with that. My main focus is lifting, so the cardio is an added bonus to keep me in shape for the birth. My mile is…
  • Big hugs to you!!! As an obsessive, high strung and prone to anxiety type A kind of person, I can feel your pain. I used to medicate and self medicate occasionally (love me some wine!), but have found a lot of good ways to manage the anxiety that are more pregnancy friendly, so I figured I would share what has helped me. I…
  • Congrats on getting your VBAC and good luck with this birth!!! I love spinning babies and a lot of the positioning helps back and hip pain. I agree that it takes some prep work to get a VBAC, especially in a hospital. I also plan to labor at home with my doula as long as possible to avoid as much intervention as I can. My…
  • Good luck!! I am excited about the birth! I have been doing Hypnobabies and it has really helped quell any anxieties and has really gotten me into a birthing state of mind. hehe
  • Pretty much this. I am at the high end of gain and I am ok with that. My measurments are all the same and I have a very healthy lifestyle, so my main focus is eating clean, working out and making sure I eat enough (2300-2400 per day for me). I feel great, my measurments are good and I am staying in shape. The scale wasn't…

  • Sounds to me like you are doing awesome!! I firmly believe a healthy lifestyle and staying active make a HUGE difference! I had scale weight goals in the beginning, but have decided to ditch them. I reached goal weight right before we got preggo and have really gotten into fitness and I assumed I had more control over the…
  • I never actually weaned, my daughter kept on until she was three and I was four month pregnant. I was more easily able to lose weight after my daughter turned 18 months and was nursing much less. It seemed like before that I had a harder time, though I think it was mental more than anything to be honest. I have heard of…
  • I did not do cloth the first time and regret it, especially when I think of the money we could have saved. The environment is another HUGE consideration. I started thinking of using cloth after watching my neighbors son. After changing him a few times and talking with her I realized just how easy and not messy they are. I…
  • I do overnight oats every night that I work to eat in the morning after my workout. I always add: mashed banana flax seeds hemp seeds chia seeds almond milk honey vanlla extract Some additional combinations include shredded coconut, dark chocolate chips and sliced almonds = just like an Almond Joy shredded coconut,…
  • Are you eating enough? I always lost better when I ate back all workout calories, plus a hundred or so when I was nursing my daughter after 12-18 months. When I didn't NET at least above my BMR (1450) I just wouldn't lose, even if the numbers looked like I should. A typica daily calorie intake when I was nursing was always…
  • HA, true!! I actually showed less boobage than that sports bra! It is fortunate for babies everywhere that the law mandates one of the "inconveniences" of having kids is NOT having to find a suitable restroom in which to feed them in.
  • No kidding. It sounds discreet, but in practice... not so much.
  • I have a doula and she has already proven to be amazing in support and knowledge alone. Sometimes you can find a doula in training for a reduced rate or even free. I found mine on a local Facebook mommy group and was lucky to be her third, and last free, birth. I am planning a drug free, hypno-VBAC in a hospital and…

  • Agreed. I am pleasantly surprised by how well this thread is going. It seems to me that public opinion is slowly changing and becoming more enlightened on the subject, which I think is awesome. I also concur that more women should breastfeed in public! My hope is for discussions like this to one day seem odd and slightly…
  • What a neat article!! A lot of that makes sense.
  • ^^This. I would say that with your workouts burning so much that you are likely in far too much of a deficit. This can not only hurt your weight loss efforts, but your supply as well. I would play around with a higher goal and see if the weight comes off.

  • I also anticipate that breastfeeding will be harder to control weight wise than pregnancy. I had a very hard time losing and even gained some myself during that first year. Granted, I was not montitoring my food and was stuffing my face with the worst things, but it was HARD. The hunger I felt was relentless and I was…
  • I did every once in a while. It was usually once she was down for the night or right after a feeding. I am not a huge drinker by any means (anymore!) and so I don't worry much about having one every now and again. I have read all of the studies and was quickly reassured that having a drink or two every once in a while…
  • I am noticing this, too. I do think running triggers bh contractions. I only go for short runs after I lift now that I am 25 weeks, but I HAVE to wear a support belt. Everything feels wrong when I don't. I also make sure that I pee right before I run to alleviate the bladder squishing issue. I also have low back…
  • Oh no!!! I know you don't have much longer, but have you tried xylitol? I bake with it all the time and it is very diabetic friendly, all natural and even has a lot of health benefits. I especially like cheesecakes made with it. yum!
  • So many things can cause cramping in pregnancy and most are normal, but I totally understand your concern. I had some a couple weeks ago and called the doc anyway. There is no price for peace of mind, so if it keeps up you may want to call them or get it checked out. TMI, but mine was because I had not gone to the bathroom…
  • And this is exactly why I helped myself to a little extra home made peanut butter pie the other night!
  • Yes! I am prepping for an unmedicated VBAC and remind myself of that every day when I hit the gym. It is like preparing for the biggest marathon EVER. I think it keeps me focused and I have to think of it that way because it is very much a mental challenge to get up at 5am, workout and log your calories everyday just to…
  • My first pregnancy was a trainwreck. I started out overweight. I did not take care of myself, ate a ton of calories (all sodium laden) and moved as little as possible. I gained 55 pounds. Fast forward to this pregnancy. I started out at goal weight (21 lbs smaller than last go around) and was very into fitness at the time.…
  • The exhaustion could very well be caused by not eating enough. I know that if I eat below my BMR (which is 1450 not pregnant) that I feel horrible, tired and start to have physical symptoms I wouldn't otherwise. Have you been sick or unable to eat more? This is a good tool based on activity level that gives a good estimate…
  • I would make sure the front wheel locks. Mine also has speakers and a connector for any device to play music with. Love that!!
  • Another couple of things I use to boost protien are flax meal, chia seeds, hemp seeds and nutritional yeast. I sprinkle the nutritional yeast on popcorn and meals as it has a nutty, cheesy flavor. The other stuff is great in oatmeal or in a homemade protien smoothie.
  • Honestly, that sounds more like round ligament pain than cramping because of an issue with the baby. I had something similar then during both pregnancies, mostly on the right side. I don't get it often now at 24 weeks. I would still mention it to the doc for reassurance and even consider calling if it gets worse. Peace of…
  • I personally wouldn't do a protien powder while pregnant, but I never used them before. I always get between 75-100 grams per day and also do not eat very much meat. I always make sure to use flours that have a lot of protien, like garbonzo and almond flour. I also make sure my snacks are protien dense, too. Some of my go…
