  • Yes!! I logged 89 miles in April so this is a GREAT goal for me!
  • I have a really great modification I use: Stand about 2 feet away from a wall, lean in and put your hands on the wall at your shoulders, push out away from the wall. The further back you stand- the more oomph! These are great, because you are still using your body weight, and working the right muscle groups. I find they…
  • I am having the exact same problem. I also don't like to eat a lot of meat. Right before I started this diet I was eating it as sparingly as possible. Maybe once or twice a week, and trying to have fish or chicken instead of red meat. I just got some Greek Yogurt (a whopping 28g of protein per cup!) and am trying to be…
  • I am! I am trying to weigh in only once a month, and tomorrow is the last day of April! This has been the healthiest and most active month OF MY LIFE. Cannot wait to add the quantitative results to the qualitative results!
  • I'm obsessed with these numbers too... I try to have a net caloric intake everyday above my BMR (1380) and below my TDEE (2250). In reality what it looks like is I eat around 2000 calories and burn about 400 calories a day exercising = 1600 net calories a day. Whatever you do, you don't want to have a net caloric intake…
  • No! I try to aim for a weekly average (same as my daily calorie goal). I'm always surprised that my weekly average is actually about 200cal below my daily average! I think if your under your weekly goal, it's been a sucessful week. And also keeps me from stressing on days I go a bit over. Life happens!
  • I was JUST wondering this earlier. I'm trying to set up a good routine for myself, but at the same time I think having a variety of options has really helped. Personally, having lots of options gives me the ability to say, "ok, fine, you don't have to get on the elliptical.... there's a whole list... pick something else."…
  • I just went through this myself! I decided I was going to start by going around to every weight resistance machine after my cardio and do just one set of 10 reps, at a comfortable weight. That way I got to know them a bit, and I asked one of the trainers about the ones I couldn't figure out. Then I made a plan that would…
  • I just started rowing and looking at my fitness log, it looks like it would take me about 12-15 minutes to row 1.2mi/2k. Good luck!
  • Sugar-free jello cups with lite whipped cream!
  • Thank you so much! This is my goal weight as well, chosen because it's the first weight within the healthy BMI range. But good to know what this actually looks like!
  • YOU ROCK!!!!
  • For all of you with the Polar FT4.... does it have ANT+ so that you can connect with mapmyfitness or any of these other iphone/ipad apps?
  • I learned to cook! And how rewarding it can be to take simple, really good ingredients and turn them into something with FLAVOR! I especially love Mediterranean... basil, mozzarella, kalamata olives, sea salt... such glorious flavors in such small things!
  • I've read all of Mireille Guiliano's books- including the one about women and business! I think the food plan is quite smart, and actually what most of us are doing every day- trying to eat a healthy calorie count, making sure we get more of the good stuff and less of the bad stuff, and have good portion control. The…
  • Yes! I ride dressage at a barn that trains for three day events. I've only been riding for a year, but it's quickly becoming a huge preoccupation for me! Add me and we can talk horsey talk!
  • So awesome! I think we've all had that frustration... I made a google docs spreadsheet that keeps track of all kinds of information, BMR, BMI, TDEE, clothing sizes, body measurements, etc, because I wanted the bigger picture, not just the numbers on the scale. Here's a link if you are interested. I think it's a read-only…
  • Does anyone want to recommend a HR Monitor that is good for machine cardio and reasonably priced?
  • I eat a lot of baby carrots. They satisfy the need to chomp on something and will usually help stave off hunger pains until I can get dinner going. Also, they are very low in calories and full of good vitamins!
  • I use Virtual Active on my iPad. It's a series of videos that look like you are running through these gorgeous locals (swiss alps, italy, american southwest) You prop up your iPad in the magazine rack and watch while on the elliptical/treadmill/bike. The iPad app is cool because it can set the pace off of how fast you are…
  • Sweat like a pig to look like a fox!
  • No! I definitely don't count anything I eat/drink to correct a low. I still do, however, have that little voice in my head that says 'calories! calories!' But I tell it to shut up. I'm low, and I'm going to have a juice box and not punish myself for it, or deny myself normal food calories because I had to have something…
  • SO AWESOME! Is she on MFP? I want to be HER friend!
  • I think the tactful thing to do would be to lead by example! Talk about you- how you're working out and the great healthy stuff your eating and what a difference it's made. Instead of telling them what they are doing wrong- let them be INSPIRED by you!!
  • I had the same problem. When I started loosing weight I started by swimming. I liked that I didn't get all sweaty, but it is terribly boring unless you have something on your mind. I actually just recently switched to using a row machine. I feel like it's the same work out, but you can listen to music or watch tv and not…
  • I can not tell you how inspiring your story is to me!! Thank you do, so much for sharing! You rock!!
  • I have also cut WAY back on wine. I used to drink a bottle a night, 5-6 nights a week. Seriously, I can't believe that was me. Now I only have alcohol on the weekends or at social events, but only have one or two glasses at the most. My husband and I are strick about drink driving, so if I feel weak, I will volunteer to…
  • Mine is 74, but my husbands is in the 40's. He's been a runner since high school cross country and is quite lean and fit. He's also 6'4". I don't know if it's slower for him because the blood has to travel so much farther?? I've been taking our heart rate with the iPhone app that uses the flash to take your pulse from your…
  • Wowza! You're a whole new person! How inspiring!!!!
