your's aren't showing up either? lol

I am also signed up for Tough Mudder, as well as Battlefrog and Spartan. I have done OCR's in the past, and have found that upper body is a must. I do weightlifting twice a week, a trail run once a week, lots and lots of calisthenics, and the rest is running on the treadmill or swimming laps. I highly recommend doing a…

Thanks guys for all your help! Just knowing I'm not the only one this happens to makes me feel better.
-
Well I've had it happen on trail runs before too. Typically I start my runs off slower until I get really warmed up and then increase the pace slowly. I run 3 times a week, twice on treadmill and once on a trail. I also swim, weight lift, and do calisthenics, so I switch it up quite often.

Oh I'm sure there has to be some hormonal stuff going on with that. It's been so long since I've had a period, I don't even know when it's supposed to occur. It's definitely worth considering as a cause of fatigue though.
-
Sounds like that just what needs to happen every now and then. As long as it doesn't happen as often as a good run does, I can manage.
-
YES! Maybe it's just give and take as a runner? You have good days, you have bad days. Luckily there are more good days than not :)
-
I have an IUD so I don't have to go to that party...But maybe my body still thinks there is a party to go to? lol

Thanks for replying. It's just really odd sometimes. I was fine all day the other day, and really pumped up to work out. Then I got to the treadmill, started to run, and felt like I'd never done an ounce of exercise before. It usually happens once every couple weeks. I will push through, and get a great calorie burn, but…

Feel free to add me :) I'm training for a bunch of obstacle course races that I have to prepare for, so I'm in it for sure!

I use a Fitbit Surge, and a Polar FT7. The Polar comes with a chest strap, and typically those are more accurate. The Fitbit takes the reading from your arm, and isn't as accurate, but automatically syncs to the phone/app.
-
Yeah, go get a HRM with a Chest Strap. I have both that and a FitBit Surge, and the Fitbit Surge isn't always that accurate either. Also, be prepared for a bit of sticker shock on the results. I always wish I burned what MFP told me I should....It's always overly high

I just got my ticket for the Sprint in Indy come July. Also doing Tough Mudde, Battlefrog, and a few others. Goal is to complete a Spartan Trifecta next year!

The "perfect form" will come with time. You have build up the muscles used for that action, and soon you'll be able to do it in proper form. I guess you could say it takes practice...? Also, strength training aids in weight loss
-
I also use Fitnotes, but it would be nice to have everything in one place. I have my Fitbit account for my Charge, Fitnotes to track my extercise numbers numbers (reps, distance, etc), map my run to...map my run, and MFP for food. Each one has has something I like best, but can't find an all inclusive.

Hey There! I, too, am looking for some folks that are serious with their journey! I've used MFP for a while now, and am not so much concerned about loosing weight, but becoming super fit for all these OCR's I'm signed up for this summer. If I loose weight in the process then bonus! Feel free to add me!
-
I did 2 OCRs last year and preparing for 5 this year. Also looking at 2 trail races. Can't wait!

I know lots of people who say it's awesome, and think it works. But those damn shakes are expensive. I use the portion control containers and like that idea pretty well. Then I sub out the shakes for EAS shakes. So far that works for me!

Hey There! Also looking for supportive friends and folks to share the fitness journey with! I am blogging my experience here betsy329.wordpress.com if you are interested! Careful though, lots of cussing...lol

I had no idea there were such things out there, I've been missing out! I'm about to Amazon this stuff up!
-
I soaked in a epsom salt bath, and that helped. I just haven't been kicked that hard before, so I think I wasn't used to it. I'll have to check out that liniment ointment though !

Do you have a set routine? Do you use a timer or just count your combo's? Sorry for all the questions :)
-
I went ahead and got wraps since I seem to hit the bag harder than the focus mitts and thai pads.. I honestly can't say i notice much of a difference other than the pain in the *kitten* it is to wrap up your hands. Now I've just been trying to figure out a routine to get into.

I have found that stretching, warming up, and stretching again help. To do a quick warm up you can jump rope (which i hate but do it anyways). I stretch my legs like crazy, but don't know the names of any stretches I do...lol...yoga is supposedly an awesome way to stretch and build up your core..

Good deal! I guess each class is different as we've only used each other. And hurray for gloves! It's always a good day when you don't have to use someone else's equipment :) lol
-
Izzy- do you guys do the bag in class?
-
My husband put down a mat for underneath. I figured if i am just doing the heavy bag, i'll do it barefoot (mat). But I usually lift and run on the treadmill, so i'll have shoes on (no mat). I would say if you are wearing shoes, don't use a mat, your shoes will tear up the mat. If you are just punching, then there really…

so I just did my first work out on the bag, and it was a bit all over the place. I'm def. going to check out that audio, I need the direction, and I always loose count...lol...Thanks so much!

Well my husband picked one up for my birthday as a surprise. It wasn't banana bag, just a standard 70 lb Everlast. It should do the job for now. Do you guys have any suggestions about drills? I figured i would just copy drills we've done in training, but would like some sort of routine for drills. Sounds silly but i'm not…
