Hey Mom! The meatloaf!

He's done it before, so I'll assume he has at least a base understanding of the 'rules of the game'. So he should understand that losing weight is only half the battle--the other half is keeping it off. (Presumably he's already failed in this regard, at least once.) What matters is this: FloridaFatty345: You probably know…

When I was starting in the 290s a few years ago I dropped 8 pounds the first week. I’ve been yoyoing a bit but I’m in the 250s now and from here I never lose more than 4 /week, even when I’m just starting after a long hiatus.

Aldi. I shop at Aldi and everything else takes care of itself.
-
I came in wanting to lose 50. (47 now.) I don't 'need' motivation or encouragement, but I like to see the collective progress of people with similar goals to my own. Add me if you'd like.

I've been eyeing the Aldi protein powder. I'm tempted to buy it and try it, but a voice in my head keeps telling me to stay away.

As one who read The Martian and is presently reading Weir's follow-up (Artemis), I can appreciate this.

U.S. lads playing Irish sports, love it! (my profile pic has me in a local hurling jersey) EDIT: Come to think of it, did we cross paths a couple of years ago? I think we did. (I mean on this forum)

I'm not on it because it would cause too much conflict with my family, but . . . To someone contemplating Atkins, I'm guessing you want more structure than simply calorie counting, and in that case I'd suggest you also look into Paleo. (Note that I'm not saying 'do Paleo'--I have no right to tell you what to do, but you…

Agreed. I was going to try to muck everything up my inquiring what brands a particular reason for losing weight as 'petty', but that sounds a 99-cent, poorly-edited ebook on Amazon. (But hey, if anyone's looking for an idea for a 99-cent, poorly-edited ebook to write for Amazon, you're welcome.) EDIT: (SIDE-NOTE) This…

Appreciated. But to clarify: I should emphasize it's the money that's keeping me from doing this. Deep down I know I should probably pay whatever necessary, because life insurance is that important. If the unthinkable happens, my family will be less-well-off because I didn't want to pay a few extra bucks.

I hear you. Our house cut cable earlier this year, and we don't miss it. I miss out on a few sporting events, but I've found more fulfilling things to fill that time. Though not on keto, I've also been tempted to add some butter (I've also heard I should try coconut oil) to my coffee, just to see how it tastes. Also,…

I understand the benefit of these motorized scooters, for people who use them responsibly. But I'm certain they provide more problems than they do benefits. The stories you hear about the scooters and their problems border on comical. I have a safe vantage point from St Charles County, but in Saint Louis (for a while at…

There a are a lot of ways the husband looks bad here. One suggestion which may or may not be helpful here: If the husband feels a need for some time to himself, I hear him because I feel similarly to him in my home situation. Qualifying this by saying that my marriage and my relationship with my toddler couldn't be better;…

End of the year is 4 weeks away. Looking to lose 10lb by that time.

I suppose this counts, though it's less about appearance (and others' impression of my appearance). One reason I'm losing weight is because I'm starting a family and need a bigger term life policy--which is really ****** expensive if you're overweight. I'm not made of money, but I have to make sure my wife/kid is OK if I…

People are missing my point. The natural question that comes from reading this thread's title is "Why is CICO overrated?" Understand that this conversation had filled 7 pages before I spoke up, so I acknowledge this isn't a commonly made argument, but I wish people were willing to at least consider a unique opinion instead…
-
Semantics. The choice to use your knowledge of CICO for the end purpose of losing weight is a 'weight loss plan'.
-
I see the 'CICO is overrated' argument as legitimate in ONLY one respect: What percent of success in a weight loss endeavor would you attribute to the selection of a means of losing weight? And what percent of success in a weight loss endeavor would you attribute to long-term focus and sustained control over yourself,…

I've lost exactly 14 pounds within the past 30 days, so I can personally testify that you CAN lose 14 pounds in a month. I'll qualify that, though, by saying that I only planned my CICO to lose 2 pounds a week, so a lot of extra weight fell off that was unexpected. I do a bit of yo-yoing, so I've seen this phenomenon…

Oh, or perhaps Chronic Kidney. That'd make more sense

Is the existing disease called PKU? I have that.

A generally agreeable answer as to what is NOT eating clean is deep-fried foods, sugars, and 95% of the food offered at fast food restaurants. Eating less of these things is smart; eliminating them entirely is sadness.

Eagles! Dilly dilly!

That's reasonable. You can pay money for NFL's game replay service (I think it's called Game Pass?), that compresses full games to 45 minutes. Ironic, yes, considering the total clock time is 60 minutes, and the total elapsed time from start to finish is 3-and-a-halfish hours. I'm fairly certain, though, that a similar…

This is exactly what I've been doing. I bought a knockoff about a week ago for under $30; the brand I bought was Letsfit, which I found on Amazon. It's not fancy but it does steps, heart rate, workouts, calories burned: the basic stuff. It gets the job done. I might use part of the tax return to get an Apple watch. Until…
