With the recent birth of our first, I've lost my excuse to not have life insurance. For the same reason, I lost my car's backseat (to a carseat, diaper bag and stack of blankets). For the same reason, I've lost any assurance of a restful night's sleep for the foreseeable future. My wife and I have started planning meals at…

It's an all-MFP fantasy football league? I'm game.

Off to a slow start. Starting weight: 265 Current weight (8/9): 264 Goal weight: 210

My highest (about 4 years ago) was 293. I've been as low as 237 but today find myself exactly in the middle: 265. I'm a desk jockey too. But I'm experimenting with a standing desk. It encourages movement, and I think it will prove much better than sitting. I'd recommend lobbying at your place of business for a standing…

I agree with those who tell you to take pictures. If you have a picture of yourself 39 pounds ago, take a picture of yourself today and compare the PICTURES (don't compare a picture to yourself in the mirror). Also: If you're not getting compliments on your weight loss from other people, trust me: You will VERY soon. Just…

(I don't think OP was asking what 'your' BMI is. I think she wanted to pose a relatively easy question then answer it herself.) (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

I'm game. Starting weight: 265 Current weight (8/1): 265 Goal weight: 210 EDIT: I didn't do those numbers right. Fixed.

Also I don't know what she means. I see carb counts just fine. Does she mean that pretty pie chart thing that used to appear on the app for free?
-
Haha, I'm eagerly awaiting the montage of all the memories of OP's profound contributions to this forum. Is someone working on that?
-
Yeah, I can sleep anywhere. But the wife needed Tempurpedic so we got Tempurpedic. Happy wife happy life.

Hmm. Without going to researching it too heavily, it sounds like an online gambling site, where you bet on yourself to lose weight. If that's all there is to it (but again I don't know) it sounds good--for some, not for everyone. It somewhat reminds me of Pete Rose betting on the Cincinnati Reds to win every night for…

Paleo's great. My wife and I were both on it until she became pregnant, and I quickly discovered that her pregnancy cravings are all carb-loaded. We intend to go back on Paleo as soon as the baby comes.

A co-worker informs me that they're re-making It. You know, "It", with the creepy clown. It "could" be great, or it could be a disaster on wheels. But finding out is half the fun, right?

Maybe I don't have a sense of humor. I just don't think everyone agrees that high-carb high-fat foods are the most delicious. But anyway, from the same page as that graphic, I like this one:

"most delicious foods"? I think I know what they mean, but that's pretty subjective, don't you think? Decent graphic otherwise.

Meh, I've thought about it. I know some distance running types who love it. I see it on the library's 'for sale' shelf, $0.50. I'm a cheapskate though.

Looking to grill something simple this evening. Hamburgers or chicken breast? With BBQ sauce, or just a blend of seasonings? Propane or charcoal? (Had to ask that last one, we own a charcoal grill but recently received a propane grill -- long story.)

I had hit the 'Pause' button on the weight loss campaign about 2 months ago, and pushed 'Play' again two days ago. So there's that. I've made an effort to hang around the MFP forum (to the chagrin of some) daily, just to be in the presence of others who are winning with weight loss, so eventually getting back on track was…

TV: I try to watch as little TV as possible. Wife and I are presently streaming The Americans (which is not by any means an 'old' series). Movies: I'll always have an appreciation for 80s and 90s comedies. Unfortunately there aren't many ways to perceive these movies, so my perception hasn't changed. Books: I'm presently…

I have two rules: 1. Do not do any distracting activities (including eating) in heavy traffic; and 2. Do not do multiple distracting things at the same time. Whatever you eat, make sure there's not some sort of drippy sauce on it, or grease, and make sure you can eat it with one hand--with the other hand on the wheel.

Am I the only person wondering: "Your work has a salad bar?"

Play-by-play talk about diet and exercise while you're losing weight is a bore to just about everyone who's not on a similar campaign. This is at least as true for wives as it is for husbands. I choose to mention the subject briefly, maybe once a week, so she at least knows what's going on. You can talk specifics on MFP to…

I think it has to do with the way your brain works. If you're more 'sensory'--if you're keen with noticing subtle changes and small details in your environment--then you'll be more likely to notice appearance changes in the mirror. I'm not that. At all. For people like me, the best subjective way to evaluate positive body…

Meh, not big on the hard stuff. I'll have either a good stout or a dry/semi-dry red wine. Needless to say I drink more in the winter than the summer.

120lb for me is 15.4 BMI. They say that's underweight. I don't generally trust BMI, but it may be on to something.
