  • Running is a great cheap, accessible cardio. All you need is good sneakers! It won't give you "bulky" muscles.. .it's not strength-training, it's cardio. Because of that, it helps melt fat from all over when you're combining it with healthy controlled eating. It's an amazing stress-buster too. If you're about to blow, just…
  • Was it broth-based or cream-based?
  • Scrambled eggs or peanut butter on bread is always good. Looks like you haven't been logging in a while. Still working towards your goals???
  • Wow. Congrats! lol
  • Healthy Choice is good. Have you ever tried Kashi meals? There my faves because I trust the brand to exclude everything artificial and try to make a truly healthy option. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of whole, clean, unprocessed, as organic as possible, eating... but if I need a microwavable meal in a pinch, I'm a…
  • All I know is on the RAGU jar it plainly says "1 full serving of VEGETABLES in each 1/2 cup!" And check out the *tomato* and *tomato juice* on the vegetable list of the USDA list of what constitutes a serving or fruits and vegetables. http://nutrition.about.com/od/fruitsandvegetables/f/servingfruit.htm Tomatoes and…
  • WOW!!! You look like the first girl's gorgeous daughter!
  • It counts as a serving of vegetables
  • Pineapple is 14 calories per ounce. So, 210 calories is correct for 15 ounces of pineapple. That is kind of a lot of fruit... :ohwell: You can always check caloric info @ www.nutritiondata.com when in doubt
  • Thanks! This was the first time the dog was reported... it's just that the owner is fighting the board's decision to classify the animal as "potentially dangerous" and have to have it registered with the animal control board. He actually accused my husband of coming by a week before this incident and beating the dogs with…
  • UPDATE: Going to Animal Court (a hearing before the animal control board) today because the dog owner is fighting the classification of his dog as "potentially dangerous". So I have my pictures of the bite printed off and a couple witnesses coming with me today. I hate that it's such a big deal. The owner should have just…
  • Ditto to what SHBoss said. Also, it definitely SHOULD NOT be less than 1200 calories. That's a minimum to keep you out of starvation mode.
  • I'm so sorry both of you have to go through being without your husbands. Thank you so much for the sacrifices you, your husbands, and your children are making so that I can celebrate this holiday in peace and safety. Seriously, thank you so much.
  • WHOA! That is so sad! I have to admit though, I'm sorta waiting to hear the story that some Obesity Advocate group starts protesting and suing the military for "weight discrimination". :grumble:
  • The consistency of butter is very different from applesauce so I would say no. Applesauce and oil (and eggs btw) are more similiar so they're more interchangable in recipes. You can sub coconut oil for butter because it's solid at room temp.
  • Yikes! One more reason to eat REAL, healthy foods rather than shake diets!
  • When we're empowered to CHANGE our weight (THANKS MFP!:flowerforyou: ) we can discuss the subject factually rather than emotionally. Great job! Obesity is unhealthy and we CAN make positive changes to contribute to our health, which you are doing. By answering the question, you've taught him that you have no reason to be…
  • If you need to grease a pan I would use Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, but I agree with the applesauce for oil (sub cup for cup) in anything sweet breads/muffins/cakes.
  • WOO HOO!!! Congratulations!!! You're doing AMAZING! Keep up the great work! :drinker:
  • If I knew how to put pictures in a thread, i would, but check out my profile. My husband married a 19-year-old 235 pound girl with weird hair and poor makeup skills who would do *anything* to avoid confrontation. I grew up, got a respectable position with an investment firm, lost 85 pounds, straightened my hair, and…
  • I often want to put a status update on here! lol
  • Atkins is the first diet I ever tried. Lost about 20 pounds but HATED EVERY MOMENT of eating that way. It's completely unrealistic and DOES NOT fit into the lifestyle I now enjoy of "clean", "whole" foods. Yes, refined simple carbs are not good for you, but don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. The food God gave man…
  • Could you make your food diary public? (Change the settings to viewable by others) I would love to see what you're eating and where you're getting all that protein! I really struggle with not eating enough and very rarely reach my protein goal for the day.
  • Thanks! It's the one holiday that isn't so commercialized. We should be THANKFUL every day!
  • Phh.... OF COURSE that's what it means!!! This never happened.... Ya'll are making me reconsider logging now. :blushing:
  • Aw!!!! Amazing how kids can say things just the right way to sink into our hearts! That's great that you're starting during the holidays because there will ALWAYS be some reason to scrap it and eat whatever you want without logging - friends will visit, you'll go out to eat, you'll have a birthday, you'll be at a…
  • Alright, so pretty much 90% says skip a day of tracking! I think I'll do the same! BUT I will try to limit portions and go light on the high-calorie carbs. My sister is hosting the meal and she's on here too <shout out to bettersusan!> and has lost 21 pounds, so she's conscious of having healthy choices…
  • Seriously. 1200 calories is WAY LOW for someone needing to lose over 100 pounds. That's probably what's making this feel so restrictive too!
  • I agree with the small chicken breast and ton of veggies OR a HUGE salad with lettuce/spinach (whatever you have) topped with carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers (calling all raw vegetables! ) and a small can/pouch of tuna (great source of protein, very low cal) and some vinegar and sugar substitute and garlic powder for…
