Could you start helping your mom cook? I wouldn't aim to change her entire repertoire, but if you offer to make a side each night (one that has lots of lean protein, fiber, etc.), then you would be helping her out as well as providing something for yourself to eat. I'd think that by tracking with MFP, you'd be able to have…

I just know you'll be happy you joined this group! Feel free to add me as well.

Hi Patty! You can definitely add me as a friend. (We have pretty similar info: I'm 42, 5'7", 181... :) ) It's sweet to hear how focused and positive you are. That will take you far. - Heidi

lol! You sound like my husband genre of coach: "Just eat less and exercise more". I get it, but what I don't get is why it's so hard for me to do what I know I should do!

Thanks for the link to PBFingers! Looks like a great site.

If you're over on protein, would you share your secrets? :) I'm doing 40 carb, 30 fat, 30 protein, and I almost NEVER eat enough protein! It's a real weakness for me. You're doing well!

Hi Allison! Sounds like a tough time (brightened by adorable baby, I'm sure... :)). First of all, I admire your hard work and determination. It's really hard to focus on very many things, including health, when you're giving full time care to a little one. I have a 14 month old (and 4 other kiddos!) so I SO can identify…

I've made some yummy Chia "Jam". Just take a cup or so of fresh fruit (I've used blackberries and blueberries), mash them up, and add about a TBSP of chia seeds. Let it hang out in the fridge for 30 minutes or so. (Oh - I added a packet of stevia and a little lemon as well.) Makes a great, nutritious spread. As a matter of…

SO cool! I love spreadsheets. :) Thanks for your time and expertise!!

I'm going to agree with everyone else. I think the fact that this is a lifestyle (and an awesome one at that) allows you days when things are a bit different. I would eat good lean protein at lunch and breakfast, make mostly healthy choices at the BBQ and dinner out, and use your indulgences for a beer or a piece of cake.…

Here's the recipe for Chocolate PB Cookie Dough Balls 5 Tbsp rolled oats (old fashioned or quick...each makes just a little difference in texture) 2 Tbsp PB2 1 Tbsp dark chocolate chips (I use Nestle) 1 tbsp honey (or stevia powder) 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tbsp water Mix all ingredients together, and roll into 3 balls.…

I got 1800, which is what I have my cals set to! :) Nice to see the confirmation. Thanks for the link.

Are any of you protein powder peeps concerned about the negative press some of these formulas have gotten? (There are several threads here...) I read them the day after I bought a container of Muscle Milk. I do not use it everyday, just in case there are valid concerns. Are there any protein powders that are more natural?…

I have a great recipe for "Cookie Dough Balls" that uses PB2. They're made with raw oats, and a couple other yummy ingredients. The recipe i use only makes 3 balls, which I like so that I don't eat a panful! I also add it to smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt... Pretty much anything aside from reconstituted PB. :) You can PM me…

No jinx, just reality reflected on the scale! Thanks for sharing your success!!

I love "Don't Break the Chain"! I kind of view logging in on MFP that way... I love knowing that I've done it for 42 days w/o a break. Definitely helps you keep motivated to not 'drop" a day. Soon, I'll have to do this with exercise. Can't seem to get in a groove there. :) Thanks for sharing!

Thank you guys so much. I think I can get too much in my head about this, and then I get confused. It helps when I remember that I want to eat now like I'll eat for the rest of my life... And, like a bajillion other posters I've read, I have to admit, I'm a bit scared. Thanks to those who answered me, and to those who've…

Thanks, Tangle. So I went back through my diaries to see exactly when I started EMTWL, and found that I did 3 weeks of below BMR eating when I first started MFP. (It seemed like so much less in my memory! :ohwell: ) I've been doing EMTWL since May 8, so that probably isn't a good enough time for me to freak out, as you…

I fill a large bowl with water and pour about 1/2 c of vinegar in, and let the babies soak. After a while, I pour out the dirty water and rinse. This is GREAT for berries - it keeps them from molding so quickly.

I"m in. I hope I'm ready for the challenge. I've been working my way up on Girl PUs, thinking that at 100 I'd transition. I'm only at 25! But, I'm still down for the challenge. :) What's the FB page?

I think I've learned an insight that might be helpful... Getting healthy is a GOOD thing. It's just not the ULTIMATE thing. Lots of us spend lots of time pursuing GOOD things, only to find when we get there that we are still unfulfilled, unhappy, uncertain, etc. We pursue these good things with all our heart, and without…

Hey there! We need to be friends... :) I'm 42 (and 1/2), and am at a similar weight (184). My goal is 142, so yeah, I've got a ways to go. Which is fine - I'm just so happy to be eating well and getting healthy. I have only been doing this for 1 month, but I am starting out with the higher cals (I'm in the 1700's…

1. Happy Birthday! 2. Your goal dress is SO cute! And you make it look even cuter! 3. Love your attitude, and your honesty. 4. Looking forward to your updates!! :) - Heidi

Just a thought re: the doctor... I am not a super picky, difficult to please person. However, I have learned to trust my instincts w/ medical professionals. If I feel that we're not working on the same page, that usually proves to be the case as times goes on. It's much easier (although still a pain) to switch now, than…
