  • 1 cup of Greek Yogurt has 23 grams of protein!
  • Personally, I love just wearing 2. Major lockdown on the girls.
  • I get pretty bad PMS too (the emotional side). I have found that when I am eating highly nutritious foods, my moods are much more stable, and I do NOT crave junk food. I first learned this when I began incorporating "superfoods" (Pratt's book) into my diet - 10 a day. http://www.superfoodsrx.com/ It also helps me to have…
  • So glad to see this! I just bought protein powder b/c I'm having trouble getting enough w/o adding too much fat. I realized, though, that it's probably not sustainable for me, because I like to eat whole foods more than processed. SO glad to see your recipe!! You don't happen to have a ready made nutritional assesment for…
  • It's fun to connect with lots of moms in similar life situations! I remember being shocked when at 37 my obgyn told me she'd have to mark me as a 'geriatric" patient. WHAT?!?! I went on to have another little guy at 41. (Honestly, I thought I had gone into early menopause when I didn't get my period. Nope! Not menopause...…
  • I made a super yummy cobb salad tonight... lots of protein, almost no carbs. Romaine, Spinach, Avocado, Cherry Tomatoes, Sliced Onion. Turkey Bacon, Chicken Breast, Shredded Cheese, Lemon Viniagrette Here's a link to the recipe:…
  • Weigh in today: - 1 lb Total lost: 4 lbs Total to go: 44
  • Day 3: 1 minute *Instead of timing myself today, I set a goal and worked against it. I think it helped me "get there". Tomorrow, 90 seconds. :)

  • bumpity-bump-bump-bump!
  • I've just done this too... Question: A lot of the people who are doing the "eat more/ lose more" kind of thing are also doing heavy lifting. Does this principle still apply if you're NOT doing heavy lifting?
  • Day 2: 45 seconds (up 2).

  • Right... I am not trying to eat a bunch of fiber just to eat fiber. (Colon Blow Cereal, anyone :) ) It's just that I do try to eat natural foods, whole grains, like to add chia to stuff ...
  • OK... With much fear and trepidation I change my numbers. I realize I've read this a million times here, but "this seems like so much!". Yikes. Thanks much for your review of the info. :) It takes a while for me to figure some things out, I guess.
  • What a great story! I love your attitude - even your little additional story about your husband shows how positive you are. I agree with everyone else who says you look wonderful! I checked out your link to HiitsDan's page and read (and read, and read, and read...). I have to say, I feel really dumb. I just don't get all…
  • Wow! So glad to hear about both of your successes! (But getting back together with your husband tops it all. :) )
  • Here's my Quinoa Cabbage Slaw recipe. (so good! Just had it for lunch...) Quinoa Cabbage Slaw 1 cup of quinoa, cooked according to package (usually 2 to 1 water to quinoa ratio) 1/2 head of green cabbage (sliced/ chopped) 1/2 head of purple cabbage (sliced/ chopped) 1 medium onion (sliced/ chopped) 1 red pepper sliced/…
  • Just a note on cabbage - if you really like it, I have a great recipe for Purple Cabbage and Quinoa Slaw. It's very nutritious, filling, and low calorie. You can send me a message if you'd like the recipe.
  • Thanks, that does help. When I adjust down my exercise to "little to none' (sad, I know), the TDEE - 20% ais much closer to the one set by MFP. Just about 100 calories up.
  • Sidesteal - Question for ya... My TDEE - 20% is higher than what MFP recommends. This is probably b/c of the exercise component. I just started doing some working out (push ups, squats, planks, a couple dumbbell routines). I filled out "light exercise" 1-3 days a week on the TDEE calculator. Is it better to over or…
  • First Plank (newbie): 42 seconds... So much harder than it looks!
  • I am starting from a level almost complete ignorance re: weight lifting. I have free weights at home, up to 15 pounds. Can I use anything here? Can anyone direct me to a website or youtube series that shows form and routines I could follow? I'm not quite ready to spring for a gym membership unless I feel like this is…
  • Thanks so much everyone! I am always amazed how willing mfp peeps are to help. :) Hopefully soon I'll know what everyone is talking about from experience.
  • Glad you asked, b/c I was wondering the same thing! WI Today - 187 Goal for the end of the month: 179
  • Oops! I didn't know how to find my topic again until today! :) Sorry it took me so long. Sounds like you're a super healthy eater. Is that a change you've made to lose weight, or have you lost 20 pounds in some other way? I'm hoping that cutting out processed crap and moving away from too many sweets will help me. I…
  • I'm right there with ya. I'm totally ENJOYING eating well, too. I guess I just had to be at the right place to start, if you know what I mean. I also have to go kind of cold turkey on the sweets/ baked goods, b/c I can be such a chow hound with those. I have even been buying my kids snacks that I don't like so I won't be…
  • Yes, thanks. I'm eating really well, and not "dieting" like you said - I just try to incorporate lots of 'superfoods" into my meals and snacks. The only restricting I'm doing is w/ sweets b/c I LOVE sweets, and have a hard time keeping myself in check. When I feel really good about where I'm at, I'm sure they'll be part of…
  • So many good ideas! (And I love the $3.00 shipping find, too!!). I used it this morning with oatmeal and fresh strawberries, and can't wait till it's warmer ... smoothie weather! ;)

  • Can I ask a question? This is my 2nd week on MRP, and I'm just trying to eat well and use the calorie limit given. I am kind of confused about this thread. I get that eating too little can be counteractive to weight loss, but I don't understand some of the successful folks who are saying they "eat what they want". I feel…
  • Just like everyone else who's posted - I so know how you feel. Right now, though, I'm sick of quitting and starting over. I just want to let my emotions be emotions, but not rule my decisions. For me, that takes a lot of prayer. My favorite quote these days is like the one in my profile: "A year from now, you'll be happy…
