  • Good work! I'm on day 26. I found that I really did need two rest days every week. So I've just kept counting the actual days I do the videos. One more week to go! For me, I have definitely noticed some changes...I lost 2" off my chest, which is awesome, and 1.5 off my belly. My arms look stronger, and my cardio is way…

  • That's a great idea! I love Hamilton...though I usually save it for exercise I enjoy, like running.

  • I've made a change to my diet recently. It sounds crazy, but I've stopped snacking! Last week, I went for acupuncture, because I've been retaining a lot of fluid in the joints on my left side. I have old injuries, and I find that a round of 4-5 acupuncture treatments every 3-4 years keeps everything moving well and…
  • I love this website for healthy, easy, and incredibly tasty food. The premise is that she tries to cook things that are low cost. But I have found that most of her recipes also fit with my nutritional goals - balanced, with a good use of grains, beans, and proteins. Most recipes make enough that I can feed my husband and…
  • My daughter asked for a slurpee last night. We live in the great white north, and yesterday was the first truly beautiful day of spring. She got her slurpee, and I did too...but instead of the Coke version I would usually choose, I chose a Crystal Light Peach Bellini. Zero calories, but all the sweet summer goodness of a…
  • I finished L1 and have done L2 for 2 days now. Let me tell you...it's awesome! Hard for sure, it different is wonderful! I'm sure I'll hate it in 6 days, but for right now I'm happy.
  • That sucks! If you have a laptop or smart tv, you can stream it on you tube.

  • I increased my weights to 6lb from 3lb!
  • I'm marking my days on our family calendar with a big green check mark. Seeing it every time I walk into the kitchen is a good reminder. Also, I'm very reluctant to mark a red x on the calendar, so that help me to stay motivated.

  • I did my day 5 today, and I have to say I'm feeling pretty good! I'm able to push a little harder, and have moved up in weights. But no, I wouldn't say it's easier. Though I guess that's the point. The workout is as hard as the effort you put in. As routine as it is, I actually found it helpful today. My husband wanted to…

  • I completely agree losing was never the hard part. Don't get me wrong, it took so much effort. But I think because my mind was focused on a goal, because paying attention to that goal was always part of my day, it was easier for me than maintenance. As soon as I decided I was maintaining, i no longer had my laser focus on…
  • During the week, I'm pretty predictable. I do eggs and toast for breakfast, a banana right after my morning workout, greek yogurt and fruit around 10am. Lunch is either something homemade from my freezer or a huge salad full of veggies, chicken, and some nuts, seeds, or avocado and dressed with olive oil and lime or lemon…
  • My goal is to find some breathing room in my pants! Also, to eventually do an actual lunge, an actual squat, and actually jump during jumping jacks and jump rope cardio segments.
  • That sounds pretty close. I use a heart rate monitor that computes my cals burned, and depending on my effort, level 1 burns somewhere between 148-189 calories in 26 minutes.
  • Hi! I'm Joanne. I am on day two of the shred, motivated in part because a colleague at work is also doing it. Yesterday sucked, and I was pretty sore all day today. But when I got home from work I tossed dinner in the oven and did my 26 minutes. It actually wasn't as awful as I was expecting. I have done it in the past,…
  • I started stage 1 this week, and have now done each workout once. Happy to be back after a number of injuries sidelined my fitness over the past couple of years. I did NROLFW in 2012 and had incredible results. So I'm really looking forward to the experience again. I found this thread helpful then, and so I'll try to post…

  • I keep forgetting to come in here and log my hard work. But...I'm still going hard - 18 days straight now! And finally starting to feel better. Keep up the great work everyone!
  • Today is day 14 for me! Haven't missed a day yet (I do at least 30 min cardio per day). Maybe it's my imagination, but my pants seemed to be a little looser this morning!
  • Another 30 minutes of walking intervals and 30 minutes of shoulders and feet. Had a late night last night, so up at 5:30 was tough. But it's done for the day, and I will get to bed early tonight. Have a fantastic day everyone!
  • 45 minutes of hill intervals walking on the treadmill, followed by a full 15 minutes of stretching. This was the first day in 9 where I didn't do any strength training, and it was a nice change of pace.
  • I did 30 on the treadmill doing walking intervals (3.5 and 4.0 mph), then back/biceps and some physio exercises for my feet. Total cardio 30 minutes; total strength 30 minutes.
  • I'm in. I've been going consistently since the 29th of December (and inconsistently for about 2 weeks before that). For me, it's about getting my workouts done first thing when I get up - typically 30 minutes cardio/30 minutes weights. That means getting up at 5:30 am during the week, and whenever the kids wake us up on…
  • I'm looking for new friends too. I'm 37, a professional who sits at a desk all day, and have two teenage stepdaughters that keep my life busy. My goals aren't crazy - I just want to be consistent with my eating and exercise habits so that I can get out and do active things with my family.
  • I'm not a Sharon, but I'm starting again myself. Of course, I started 4 days before new year's, so that I can say it's not a resolution! :) Looking for an update on friends, so if you don't mind, I'll add you.
  • Way to go IndigoSue! What a great accomplishment! I came down with a nasty head cold on Thursday morning, and have been suffering pretty bad ever since. I did run on Thursday, but haven't been up to running again. I can hear the treadmill calling me. But I'm so sick, I don't think I'll be doing myself any favours by…
  • Good call Misskk! Breathing makes a huge difference in running. I changed my breathing pattern last year after doing some reading...in for three steps through the nose then out for 2 steps through the mouth. It's tough at first but made a difference in my endurance. On a side note, I did w2d2 today, and despite a killer…
  • W2D1 tonight. It felt great - 3.5 for the walks and 5.0 for the runs. I liked the pace, it felt comfortable. But my knee was pretty tight throughout. I spent some serious time with the foam roller after, and will ice it now. Hopefully it feels good tomorrow. Great job everyone! Glad to see you're all making good progress.
  • Hi everyone. I just finished W1D3 today, and am looking if forward to the progression over the next few weeks. I used to be a serious runner... Never very fast, but I loved it. After a few years of injuries, I took some time away from the sport, and managed to gain about 40 pounds. I've been back on mfp for almost two…
  • Definitely try the probiotics. I recently refocused my diet on eating super clean and was getting terrible gas after every meal. After only a couple of days of taking one pill with each meal, I was back to normal. The pharmacist recommended staying on them for 2-3 weeks and then easing off. By that time, according to him,…
