From TJ's I'm eating carrots, hummus, roasted seaweed, almond butter, dark chocolate (in moderation), greek yogurt, and light string cheese for snacks. I can't afford Whole Foods :-)

I also have always had a bad right knee (same deal-cracks, gets sore, and when pushed too hard the patella pops out completely). The only thing I can advise is to become a gym rat. Thanks for the advice but I only eat 1200 net calories per day as is. I might try not eating back any/all of my exercise calories but cutting carbs isn't good for me. I'm hypoglycemic and when I've gone carb-less and low-carb in the past, I've passed out many times. Glad it works for you, though!
