Had a partial at age 37 and didn't gain right away. Didn't do HRT for health reasons so I had to exercise religiously and really watch what I ate. Exercise is the key-really no way around it even if it's regular fast paced walking.

I agree withe the others, you should try weighing your food and also getting accurate calorie counts as some of the MFP counts are WAY off. I also noted that some of the add backs from exercise might be high. Even if you're just a bit off this could cause you to stall.

If one considers that the photos show a person's personal progress toward their individual goal and are not necessarily a depiction of a "non-fat" person (whatever that is) then it is in no way a "shaming" but an affirmation. Personally, my "thin" weight and "thin" photos are probably someone else's "fat" photos...and visa…

Skimmed has a higher ratio of calcium-ifthat makes a difference to you. Whole milk fats make you feel fuller so if you are trying to up your calories changing to skimmed may help. I would recommend trying to add some nuts or nut oils to up your calories.

If you're just trying to cut back and aren't as worried about the carbs find some whole grain bread with under 150 cals for two slices and this works out quite nicely. I've given up bread for breakfast though as the toast toppings are generally to high fat or sugar laiden. Sometimes when I'm being hard core I use lettuce…

FANTASTIC JOB! You truly deserve every "ego stroke" you get!

I really empathize with your situation. It's the not knowing which is most stressful! Just know that everyone's positive energy is behind you. If you hospital has a group that you can attend to help anserw your questions and give you immediate support then I would wholeheartedly recommend attending as soon as possible.…

I used to drink a lot of calories in wine when I went out so when I started MFP I went cold turkey for a month for calorie control reasons. This was easier because I had no social engagements except dinner out with my husband and we had a pact that he wouldn't order for me or pour. After that month I started adding one…

The week I didn't log on vacation and had no weight gain!

I agree with Monica, that you might consider investing in some hand weights (that you can add weight to) to begin toning at home. Gyms make almost all of their money from people who never go back after the first three months. You might also ask the gym if you can have a one day pass to see if you like it.

I disagree, it is not obvious. How you measure depends on a great many factors such as: What are you measuring for? If it for an accruate clothing size perhaps you need that extra inch so your shirt doesn't pull across the bust with your bra on. Are your breast large, wide, do they hang low, are they small, are you under…

I don't often have nightime cravings as I've worked in two snacks into the meal plan in order to try to avoid this oh-so-common pitfall. For those occasions when I really need something to eat due to inexplacable hunger pangs, I eat fruit-usually plums. Having low-cal snack options which are high bulk really helps…

This is my first rant in the 6 months of using this site. DEFINITION: know–all/ˈnoʊˌɑ:l/noun. A know-it-all or know-all is a person who obnoxiously purports an expansive comprehension of a topic and/or situation when in reality, his/her comprehension is inaccurate or limited. After hearing over and over again from people…

Seeing a baby smile...yep, always works!!!

Totally agree about watching the database here as many people do not put in the sodium when they post nutritional information so it says zero. Sometimes people add the sodium but neglect to convert to mg from g so it's a factor of 100 off.... :-/ I've set my sodium to 1500 to help out my husband with his goal and it's…

There were no foods which I have had to totally give up in order to lose weight. But I did give up two non-foods which were not helping-- added salt (also salt in most processed food except bread) and fake sugar. The salt and fake sugar seemed to stimulate my appetite and after I stopped using them I ate normal…

I went totally off sugar and artificial sweeteners and this made that bowl of fruit look really good!

Seems like a great way to add flavoring to shakes or desserts without the artificial sugars--as long as the artificial flavorings aren't a problem, I say go for it big! Serving Size: 1 packet (3g) Servings per Container: Amount Per Serving %DV Calories: 10 Calories from Fat 0 Total Fat: 0g 0% Saturated Fat 0g 0% Trans…

Your weightloss history seems almost to mirror my own. I plateaued at about the same point you did and it ended being just a slower weightloss. I had to bump up the exercise from three to 5 days for 1 hour (doesn't have to be aerobic) and I'm really watching the salt. Good luck!

I started going grey at 26 and it wasn't the shock of grey or a few scattered silvers-but an ugly beige yellow streaky mess right at my part and on my face which literally drained the color from my skin. So in short-not the most attractive look. Now I'm 55 and wouldn't consider letting it go to the 60 percent…

My husband swears by Gillette Gel! It's clear but if globbed on can stain clothes-- but it really works. Not only does it keep you from excess perspiration (which any cream antiperspirant will do well) it keeps you from smelling bad all day. I love it so much I import it to Europe from Amazon USA because they don't sell it…

I have big legs as well and sure enough when I lose fat they get smaller, not matter how many squats I do. If you want a leaner look the you might try Pilates as well.

You might try eating some 0% Greek Yogurt (or Fromage Blanc where I live) with two tablespoons of oat or wheat bran mixed in for bulk. This ups the protein and is very low cal and the bran fills you up.

you eat more...

I log everything that has calories. For me this works best to control my eating (and drinking). OF COURSE, tracking both eating and drinking is the LAST thing on my mind when I'm out with friends, that is why I ended up here!

I'm sorry for your loss... My father and my dear cousin died from the complications of their obesity-diabetes, hypertension, arteriosclerosis and my husband is also showing symptoms of weight related diseases. It is a big decision to begin a journey which will fundamentally change your entire life. It's more than…
