Try isometric exercises. They won't give you the cardio benefits, but they will help you maintain your strength. Beyond that, deep breathing? Chair dancing? Light resistance bands?

A light snack of cottage cheese, brush my teeth (for the fresh, minty taste), and go to bed.

Just started researching HF. Can't imagine drinking fat, and certainly not in my coffee. I'm a purist there; straight up black for me. All of the stuff I've read so far has been from people already into HF. How did you get started and how long did it take to get used to drinking this? I just told my daughter to pick up…

Isometrics (for strengthening) and leg lifts (for stamina). Don't forget some twisting moves for the lats.

Prepare some snacks to keep on hand in the refrigerator. Tuna salad wraps in lettuce? Cheese sticks? Boiled eggs? Just 2 ounces of some protein with a little carb will get me through those nagging munchies. One thing, save a snack high in calcium for late evening--helps me get to sleep. That old "hot milk" thing has some…

Hasn't anyone told you that you can and will (if you exercise regularly) gain muscle as you lose fat? Muscle is more dense than fat. Takes up more room in your clothes, etc. It's all good. Just go back to eating at least 1000 calories/da before you make yourself sick. And congratulations on your fat loss!!

Got mine through my ins co's health plan. I keep forgetting to wear it. :(( It's a new thing. It's just a step counter, and I really don't exercise that much yet. Working on it, but starting from Total Couch Potato. Plus, the winter weather doesn't help. No snow, just doldrum days. Thank God for spring!!

Welcome home.

Go slow to absorb changes in both food and exercise. You don't want to gain the weight back by bouncing back to your previous lifestyle. Besides, losing too fast will have some kind of consequences to your body (organs, hormones, etc. And your friends/family need time to accept your new lifestyle or they'll sabotage you…

I have always had that problem. But lately I began giving myself one or two "spa days" each week. Long showers or baths, followed by moisturizing, nail care (feet too) and hair care. Then light makeup. OK, it's still me in the mirror, but it feels better. And I can live with that.

The key word here is ROUTINE. Consistency may be the hobgoblin of little minds, but it's definitely the Ringmaster of the weight loss circus!

Your body logs it, so you may as well do the same. Besides, who are you doing this for? Nobody else cares as much about this as you do, so????? Everybody has a bad day some time. Anybody who says s/he doesn't is lying--maybe to him/herself, maybe to that imaginary somebody s/he thinks will condemn him/her--but lying. And…

Ask your waiter's advice. In a good restaurant, they will go ask the cook. Have gotten excellent tips that way.

Don't drive or operate machinery.

Worst case scenario is muscle loss over recovery time. Try isometrics to help maintain strength. Isometrics strengthen muscles; weights, cardio build stamina.

too much asparagus?

Have you asked your doctor about these cravings? If they are constant, you may need some specific nutrients? I get that kind of mindless craving when I feel lonely. My "cure" is to keep busy--something that uses my hands and my mind. Reading won't do, I just snack along. But writing, needlework, anything that I can "get…

I use a moderated form of Atkins. With diabetes (type 2), carbs are my enemy, and MUST be controlled. However, carbs are necessary to your body, so you can't cut them out. Starting Atkins with the induction list, see how it goes. Get yourself some flax seed (ground, or use a coffee grinder on them. They don't digest if you…

Try fish for changes.

Try roll-downs to build strength for situps. Also, situps/crunches only work UPPER abs, so do some leg lifts to begin for lower abs (one leg at a time is fine to start), and some twists for "lats." Be gentle with yourself. This is not a sprint. It's a marathon.

Based on the almost certain fact that we got too heavy because we didn't use self control, and/or we didn't understand how to eat a healthy diet--they're probably right. Also, may I suggest that, like any other addict, we usually hang out with people who ALSO do not eat a healthy diet, we ARE likely to go back to our…

Best way to resist temptation is to get up and walk away.

Sometimes I lose fat (weight). Sometimes I lose inches. (amazing!) Sometimes both. As long as I'm losing something-- I've been a baaaaad girl!

The nutritional facts are listed "per serving" which usually means a couple tablespoons to a half cup--it tells you at the top of the label. Then you have to measure how much you ate to know how many "servings" . I don't really know how accurate the amounts are. Unfortunately, I don't have the facilities to determine that,…

Two things: find something to keep your hands busy (and engage your mind a bit) and sing. If you can't sing well, sing loud!

When you REALLY don't want ____________________ (fill in blank: exercise, put down the fork, plan another menu, track what you ate, etc.), but you go and do it anyway because__________________ . That's your motivation. Jillian Michaels says that looking for motivation--and especially WAITING for motivation--is a monumental…

I guess the absolute worst thing is the premature death attached. Having children, not knowing if you'll live to see them grow up. Remembering my grandmother telling me, "You're digging your grave with your teeth." Beyond that, never getting to be what/who you want to be. Never knowing how that feels.

Cjam, I think what u r describing is called "grazing.". I have that problem too. I find it is, for me, a response to boredom. When I am engaged, mentally and physically (even if it is no more than writing or texting) it doesn't bother me. So, I try to keep my hands & my mind busy. Who knows, I might actually accomplish…

Merkavar, that's really a great idea! How about a swap shop sort of thing? You post the size you need, and people reply with what they have to offer? People I know exchange books and plants/seeds that way; why not clothes?

Jim, how are tacos a net protein? And what is a net protein? I'm new at this.
