  • I am SOOO jealous!! :s
  • Check on your salt and magnesium. I added broth with 1 T coconut oil and 1 T butter--felt better. Then got a few leg cramps, so added 100 mg Magnesium Citrate caps (1 morning, 1 evening), slept better and felt better. Also, be sure to keep hydrated.
  • It might. I started with 100 mg Magnesium Citrate (Spring Valley brand, not expensive), and take 1 ea/da (2 if extra workout). Seems OK for me, but we are not all the same. We lose some extra magnesium to flushing fat "ashes?" according to some sources. Just what I read, I'm not an expert by any means.
  • I was having trouble sleeping--long history of late nights due to working schedule. After increasing my magnesium because of leg cramps I am sleeping very well, thank you. :) Just a thought.
  • How's it going?
  • Sorry, I've been away. This group is very slow. So, I don't know how many there are any time.

  • Welcome. Forgive my ignorance, but what is IF?
  • Love this! Gotta buy a poster for my fridge door!

  • Be very careful with the salt caps. In Arkansas, where I grew up, the temps lived at 110-125 through most of August and September (harvest time for corn, and going into cotton). So people took salt tablets. They don't dissolve well, so they sometimes just sit on your stomach lining, promoting ulcers and other aggravation.…
  • Actually, it's going great. Weight loss is slow, but improvement in health otherwise is wonderful.

  • I'm still in induction phase. Losing slowly, but losing. @MemphisMaven, There are days when I am over carbs, too. Don't let it throw you. Just log it and move on. You'll get there. It's a learning process.
  • Atkins is basically low carb and high fat. Not many vegetarians here. The diet is fat and protein heavy. Hard to do on veggies alone. Sorry to be no help, but didn't want you to feel you were being ignored.
  • Just started taking magnesium last nite--250 mg. Best night's sleep I've had in a loooooooong time!
  • More fat! I was addicted to crunch--ate potato chips by the bag. (Changed that to pork skins, no carbs.) But now I can walk the aisles in the stores and not even consider chips or candy. I am at that point where I lose most of my appetite, so many days I need to push proteins. I use chocolate whey powder mixed with Silk…
  • Thank all of y'all. I have done this before (when I was younger), and it seemed easy. This time around I am having trouble staying in ketosis. It's "trace" for 4 or 5 days and then negative. OK. I just keep plugging. I am learning so much from these boards! Thanks to y'all I'll get it right eventually. My new mantra is:…
  • Hello. This "group" is so slow that I almost gave it up. But welcome to you, yarwell. Hoping things will pick up a bit around here.
  • Thanks to all! Until now, my butcher was the only one I asked about this who didn't look at me like I am nuts. (they could be right, but oh well )
  • A "charley horse" is a cramp in the leg or foot. Can be very painful.
  • Please consult your pharmacist (if you can't see your doctor) before you add any aminos or herbal meds. Some of them may conflict with your prescribed meds.
  • @wheatless & @granny--and anybody else--FYI--whenever you take an antibiotic, you should also take acidophilus. You can buy it over the counter, no prescription necessary. Or, eat yogurt (count the carbs). I don't know why doctors don't tell people about this. Antibiotics kill ALL the bacteria in our gut, can't tell the…
  • Welcome. I've been doing this for about 6 wks now, with little weight loss but lots of improvement in other health issues. It's really a Way Of Life for me. and I have at least 26 more years to get it right! (Joke: I'll be 74 soon, trying for at least 100.) You really won't be hungry, and it's not all that hard. Don't…

  • Just smile. Drives people nuts!
  • Most of us actually do have a negative reaction to carbs. (Lots of detail available if you care to look.) Therefore, most of us WILL be continuing on this WOE for the rest of our lives. Maybe after a few false starts. It took me a while to get it through my head that I really need this. The carbs are just not worth how I…
  • Welcome back. We need to get more members. I'm sure there are more Atkins followers here somewhere.
  • I'm here. Seems rather empty. There's a low carb group that's very friendly and helpful--and jumpin' :)
  • Looking good!
  • Great idea! Filing most of these. Thanks.
  • Thanks. I feel kind of stupid, asking these questions, but I'm trying to get this right. Saw my doctor yesterday. All blood tests (A1c, lipids, blood pressure) within normal range; lost 6 pounds since I saw him last (about 2 months). I was taking furosemide and a potassium pill that could choke a horse--no more! Drinking…
  • Yes, I used that calculator. MFP gave me 5% carbs, 25% prot, 75% fat. Having a hard time since my appetite fell off. Today I had breakfast, skipped lunch, had a fried, breaded, chicken finger for supper, and was satisfied. But am now eating "simple meatballs" to make up some of prot % fat.
  • @Kitnthecat, about filing suit--don't forget to keep a record of your trips to the chiropractor. You can be re-imbursed for transportation costs also. And DO file. Otherwise, the greedy and speedy ins. co. will just keep the money for themselves. And you KNOW the premiums will go up anyway. Also, if they give you ANY…
