  • I guess, in order to really help, we'd need to know is this Arthritis, or pain from being overweight. I had severe hip arthritis & used a walker (eventually a wheelchair), but at the time, was too young to get a hip replacement. So, with Physical Therapy help on choosing what exercises to do, I (on my back on an exercise…
  • Hi, I could also use some motivation & friends my age. I'm in my mid 50s. I sent out friend requests to you all.
  • Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is 42.5, thats a lot. While I applaud your motivation, but you could be doing serious damage to your joints (not just now, but future arthritis, & early joint replacements in your future). Why is the worry about a joint replacement important? Because they only may last 10 years, & revisions dont…
  • Bump (only so I can save this topic in my settings). Thx for the info!
  • I get angry for a couple reasons. 1. I have other stuff I have to do (& I'm thinking about it when I exercise). 2. The weather has been so hot here (98 F is COLD here), I've been couped up in the house on the exercise bike for the last 5 months. Its a really nice exercise bike, but still I'm bored. I watch TED videos or…
  • OPPS! Correction: If you use the Polar bluetooth HRM strap with digifit, you dont need an ANT+ dongle. If you use the GARMIN HRM soft strap with Digifit, you DO need the ANT+ dongle (because Garmin is not bluetooth). I personally am using the WAHOO ANT+ dongle with the Garmin.
  • I have a Garmin heart rate monitor soft strap & use the digifit iphone app, good for exercise indoors (for me). I also have the Garmin watch 910XT for outside biking & its the only watch that really, does swimming well (has advanced metrics for swimming that no other watch does). However, its complicated to use, & its been…
  • My 14 pound Jack Russell, who makes a great back rest (as he is a "leaner"), but if I get up at night, he rolls into my empty space, then is very crabby when I have to move him, to get back into bed!
  • In chemistry, where sodium (salt) goes (food in your rmouth), water follows (kidneys will hold onto water). From the CDC: Top Sources of Sodium in the diet: Breads and rolls Cold cuts and cured meats Pizza Poultry Soups Sandwiches Cheese Pasta dishes Meat dishes Snacks To reduce sodium in your diet: Read Nutrition Facts…
  • Stretch marks are like a tatoo. They tell a story of you, battles you've been in, battles you've won. BTW, people who need corticosteroids for a long time to control a disease (Crohns, ulcerative colitis, asthma etc), can get stretch marks anyway, even tho they are thin. And, THEIR stretchmarks are purple, on top of it.…
  • Bump! Great idea!
  • Hi, I just joined today & very happy to find a group of people my age. I'm 54, was thin, but gained 100# in grad school. Then lost it over 2 years (once I was out of that stress). Kept it off for 9 years, but then at age 44, my right hip became very painful, to the point I couldn't walk. I was told I had congenital hip…
