You didn't quote, and I see that she edited. Have we missed something?

QFT. I mean, just think of what you're not adding to our already overburdened sewage system. Paying it forward ftw.
-
And maintenence is a *kitten*. Some people gain no matter what they don't eat.
-
Then your diet is made of lies, but you can log them as exercise if you speak them out loud. Honest logging is critical.
-
Usually 0 calories per meal, but it could be higher if it's smoggy, and make you hungrier for more air. Just be sure to log your exercise calories, and breath those too.

This statement ranges from a gross over-simplification to misinformation, depending on how they meant it. It doesn't slow RMR, but can lower TDEE if it causes you to become less active (which it often will). It can also increase the release of grehlin, the appetite stimulating hormone, and interfere with leptin, which…

@kommodevaran: It's only keto that reduces hunger. Just reducing carbs somewhat, as she's looking to do, doesn't reduce appetite, and can intensify it for some. Also women in the third trimester of pregnancy do need to snack. Large meals almost always cause them heartburn, as their stomachs are significantly pushed on.

I understand that now, but as has been said, eating very little is different from eating nothing at all. At any rate, people have listed recorded total fast durations, and the OP's own example can be considered disproven.

Indeed, but hair loss will often show up long before the depletion of the stores (which results in anemia). Iron deficiency is on the list of nutritional causes that she said she'd look at. The recommendation I've seen for ferritin is to get it over 80, if you're experiencing hair loss.

It would be B. Additional cooking, even of precooked meat, will reduced the weight. The nutritional information on the package is for the state it comes in, though. There would be some amount of fat cooking out (unless the meat is fat free), but there's no way to calculate it.

I had actually been the one who said she would've been in ketosis, and I wasn't implying that it would've been harmful, merely that it was a hole in her story because she failed to mention it, even after numerous people told her she would have had to be getting glucose in her IV. She obviously did get glucose, and many…

Conversely, too little zinc can cause hair loss, as can too much selenium. And a multivitamin/mineral supplement causes too many of the contained nutrients to be rendered inert.
-
While this is true, many nutrients also should be taken with certain others, and specifically apart from certain others. https://www.betternutrition.com/features-dept/how-to-take-supplements

Fyi, it had seemed that you were comparing your experience to HG, and implying that the OP and others should've just willed themselves not to throw up.

@lizery: Spoken like a person who's not had doctor after doctor only offer cursory evaluations, and misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis. It's not an uncommon problem, and as with any vocation (mechanics, police/corrections officers, teachers, childcare providers, lawyers, counselors, etc), many put in too little effort to…

No problem. A full thyroid panel could be helpful as well, if you haven't had one recently.

One list of some potential nutritional causes: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5315033/ And one that says that a long-term high protein diet can impair over function (among other things), which suggests that might be something to think about. It doesn't, however, say what they consider long-term.…

That is an interesting case, but it is just one person. Apart from the other problems with her story, it's also extraordinarily unlikely that severe hyperthyroidism would've gone unnoticed in a pregnant woman receiving medical care, and it wasn't among the details of her condition. I don't know that you had that in mind…

She included terrific sources of potassium and magnesium into her diet, and isn't suffering any of the symptoms of deficiencies of either as a result. Inadequate sodium consumption is an extremely common cause of a headache, if it is related to ketosis. Your experience with ketosis is very interesting, thank you for…

You could, and you would lose weight, but it could also set you up for trouble down the road. Spending that many days eating for your current maintenance level could make it more difficult to adjust to the maintenance level at your goal weight, which could really be a problem when/if you stop logging. Why not even those…

She didn't actually give any indication of how much sodium she's getting at all, just that she's getting some amount that's unknown to us, unless she's told you something that isn't in this thread. Typical electrolyte replenishment is not the same as what's required for an individual in ketosis, and beverages formulated…

That's a normal loss for having entered ketosis. I lost/gained about 8 pounds each time I entered/left ketosis, and it will vary a bit from person to person. Your problem is almost certainly sodium. In ketosis, your body no longer stores sodium. Try 5-8 grams (5000-8000 milligrams). That's the most frequent recommendation…

Still just on the related topic of hypothyroidism and TSH, but I just looked at a conversion chart, and realized I'm on full thyroid replacement. My TSH before any treatment was 2.0, which is decent, and wouldn't be considered anything that needed treatment without the more comprehensive testing.

This link is something I'd recommend you take a look at. It's a condition of the front of the ribcage. I will also say that if any of your ribs feel more prominent than the others, a good chiropractor may be able to help with that. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/costochondritis/basics/definition/con-20024454

I had looked it up before I made my last post. I didn't know your age, but I used 20, and is not going to make a big difference. It gave a sedentary maintainance of 1699. You're probably not sedentary, but it was a point of reference. You saw a number for weight loss, not maintainance.

Purplish-blue (or very pale) fingers and toes is Reynaud's Phenomenon. They also get red (and sometimes minorly puffy) when they get warm again. It's constriction of the blood vessels in the extremeties that is an overreaction to exposure to even minor cold (for me, 72 will do it). It is oxygen deprivation to those…

Are you still trying to lose weight? If so, why is it that you feel like you need to? Don't misunderstand, I'm not trying to say you're wrong to want to, but wondering if it would be best for you. Are you small-framed, or medium-framed? 1350 is far under maintenance for your size fyi, even if sedentary.

I think it tastes good, but I like plain water, and get quite a lot without help. I had bought it for my husband, who can never seem to drink what he needs, and suffers as a result. He liked the taste too, but somehow it didn't help him drink more water. We had bought a variety pack on Amazon, with (I think) 5 flavors. I…

I have to strongly disagree with that degree of reliance on TSH. TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) is not produced by the thyroid, and thus is not a measure of thyroid function. Many have a relatively good TSH level, and don't produce enough thyroid hormone. Think of TSH as a work-order, telling your thyroid what to do. My…
