The first thing I did to improve my health and nutrition was to quit drinking Diet Pepsi. I replaced that habit with various green teas. I'm a big fan of iced tea so I just make my green tea in the fridge with two family sized bags in a 2 quart pitcher of water. My fridge almost always has 2 pitchers of green tea waiting…

Never wear cotton when running. Your feet, groin and nipples will be much happier.

Just run baby! I've had big thighs all my life. I needed them to support my 260+ for years. Now through running 100 miles per month, what were fat thighs are now well defined.

That move likely would've ended with the two of you employing separate lawyers.

This is two for the price of one. My wife has been working at this much longer than I have, but I think I've caught up to her. Before picture is Thanksgiving 2009 and the recent picture is Thanksgiving 2012. The total weight loss between the two of us is approx. 160!

Run one for me!

Yes, but...13.1 miles at 9 minutes per mile gives you a half marathon in under 2 hours. That sounds like running to me.

February 3 - 5.17 miles WTD - 5.17 MTD - 5.17 Miles to Goal - 94.83 Slow start to this month. My Sunday long run was shortened due to a cramped schedule. I may have to break my no treadmill rule during the second half of tonight's game.

I have actually ran with my phone on my hip in it's holster. Right now with winter cold and snow accompanying every run I just put my car key in one pocket and my phone in the other. A good running jacket will have zippered pockets to keep your stuff secure. I also have running pants with zippered pockets. When spring…

Your improved posture is one of the first things I noticed. When we improve ourselves, we tend to stand up taller and stronger. Improved posture shows an improved attitude about life and greater confidence. Keep up the great work!

A good pair of walking shoes. Brooks (makers of excellent running shoes) makes a walking shoe called Addiction. I've got a pair that are three years old and still going strong.

I paid $35 for the Brita Resolution Run 5K on New Years' Day. The thing that made it worth it for me was the fact that instead of a t-shirt all the entrants received a running jacket from The Running Room. I can't see myself paying more than $25 if I'm only getting a t-shirt. Obviously for longer races I'll be willing to…

I recently completed my own personal half marathon in 2:09:33. I am looking to run the 2013 Dam to Dam here in central Iowa in June. It's a 20K race. If that goes well I'll begin training for a full marathon in October. If the 20K is a struggle for me I'll likely just run the half marathon option in October.

True! His name is Beary. The next person is training for a marathon.

I'm planning on 100 in February.

Marinegirl92 nailed it! MFP is just a tool, an excellent tool, but the working of the tool is still the responsibility of the craftsman. Great work, you're looking awesome!

Week 4 check-in: January 23 - 3.47 miles January 25 - 5.21 miles WTD - 8.68 MTD - 75.39 Goal has been met! I just might wind up over 100 this month.

Lightweight thermal base layer. Winter running is great. I layer up, grab my hat and gloves, put on my face mask if there is a significant wind chill and go for it. The general rule is to dress as if it is 20 degrees warmer. The first half mile or so should be a little chilly but your body will heat up and you will sweat.…

I've been using endomondo since last summer and even upgraded to the premium version. You can find me there as Dan Aubuchon. I'll be looking to add people from this thread when I sit down at the computer tomorrow.

I don't really have a comeback story for you but I can give a bit of advice regarding shin splints. Most running injuries happen because of poor form. If you focus on running with a midfoot or forefoot strike you will allow the muscles and joints of your legs to work properly for absorbing shock. When you run with a heel…

I live in Iowa and in the last three weeks I've run in temps ranging from 1 to 55. The only day the weather stopped me was this past Monday when it was -5 with an extreme windchill as well.

As an employee of Chick-fil-A I'd like to say thanks for the love and eat mor chikin! My personal favorite is the Chargrilled Chicken sandwich. No breading, no frying and the whole wheat bun doesn't get buttered before it's toasted. Healthy and delicious!

Hi Jen, My name is Dan and I've been on MFP for about nine months now. I have used running as my primary tool in losing over 70 pounds. I started by running short periods of time while on long walks. That eventually became taking brief walking breaks while on long runs. Now I just go out and run. There are several running…
