  • thanks for the link! that will come in handy now the weather is getting hotter again.
  • I'm not originally from Ireland, but I've been living here for 14 years now, I like it here. I'd love some more people who live in Ireland on my friend list, it would be nice to compare diaries and support each other. :flowerforyou:
  • I'm interested in this too. It's hard to know how much to eat exactly and still lose. So if I'm eating BMR, and my exercise calories, and am rather sedentary, I'll still lose? Because that number of calories is a lot higher then what MFP recommends for me.
  • That's how I do it as well. I have to admit I don't always put a lot of elbow grease in my cleaning, so when I'm gently pushing the vacuum cleaner around or doing dishes or something like that, I won't log it. that's just my normal routine. Washing the windows, pushing the furniture around, anything that makes me sweat or…
  • I have rice cakes (3 for 78 cal) with peanut butter, jam or Philadelphia with Cadbury Chocolate, and a large cup of green tea. Sometimes I'll have a banana with this too. Without the banana this generally comes in under 200 cals in total, with the banana it's just under 300.
  • I just came in to post that! I just lie there like a beached whale when I try. Just keep building up your fitness, we'll get there.
  • Read this: https://www.turbokick.com/wblog/?p=709 It's normal to not lose or even to gain when starting a heavy exercise regime.
  • Try the 20 Second Chocolate Mug cake: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/563295-20-second-sugar-free-chocolate-mug-cake
  • I do the 5 mile video and log it as 4mph brisk pace as well.
  • Take measurements. Sometimes what we don't lose in pounds, we do lose in inches, especially when exercising a lot.
  • I agree. I respect my husband by accepting that he has both male and female friends, and vice versa. Disrespectful would be flirting with another man. Sharing recipes and weight loss experiences with the opposite sex however... how on earth is that disrespectful? Unless you are really insecure of your relationship and…
  • I'm happy to hear Leslie Sansone works for you too. 30 DS can wait ;)
  • That sounds great! I've got to try this.
  • I can't do it either, 30 DS is brutal. I don't see the need to do something that makes me feel like a failure, so I've started doing Leslie Sansone's Walking at home DVDs instead. Once I'm in a bit better shape I'll try 30 DS again, but for now it does nothing for me but make me feel bad about myself. If you think you can…
  • I came in to post this. If you are obese and very unfit (like me) these are far easier to start out with. And Leslie is such a sweetie that you don't feel bad if you mess up. Try one of her DVDs, you can always move on to things like 30DS later when you've lost some weight and have gotten into a better shape. at least,…
  • I've never heard of it... no idea what it is, sorry :(
  • Thanks Ryonyanko. I found some recipes online but they were all very heavy on the olive oil, adding lots of calories. Perhaps simply leaving out the oil or lightly spraying them with spray oil might help?
  • Take a look at this thread as well for inspiration: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/588804-88-snacks-under-100-calories
  • The biggest problem with that is twofold for me. First of all, models/celebs have far more time and money to spend on their looks, and they have to because looking good is what pays their bills. For a normal person it isn't really doable though. Second of all, most pictures in magazines are photoshopped and don't even…
  • Some people like weighting weekly, or even daily, to keep an eye on their progress and adjust their diet/exercise accordingly. It's one way of keeping track of progress, and some people love a visible number as proof that what they are doing works. Just weighing can get a bit obsessive, since it doesn't always reflect your…
  • I know what you mean. When you're big it seems that what they are really saying is "You have a pretty face, but the rest of you is awful". Part of that is our own insecurity as well; we don't like the way we look so we can't imagine someone else liking what they see when they look at us. Follow your friends' advice and…
  • I'm having Italian style salad with Ceasar Salad Spray, pumpkin seed and oat crispbread with tuna (and a little bit of low fat mayo) and a glass of milk.
  • This is true :) However, in my experience, the bigger an online community gets, the more you have to sift through to find those diamonds in the rough. In my few weeks here I've learned to simply ignore threads that have "red flag" topics, like starvation mode, fasting, eating under 1200 calories and so on. I know how I…
  • Wow, you like amazing, like a different person! You truly are an inspiration. Congratulations on the size 8 as well :flowerforyou:
  • I fully agree with this post. And even though I'm not single, I end up cooking just for me a lot of the time since both my husband and daughter are on very different diets due to food intolerances/allergies, so I quite regularly cook 2 or even 3 different meals a night. Cooking a meal for 4 and then freezing 3 portions…
  • I've noticed that not every label has all the information MFP asks for when I'm entering foods myself. For example, I recently entered a shop bought lasagne that listed Total Fat, but not the amount of Saturated Fat. That one comes up with 0 Saturated Fat now (which is something I track). Looking at that Lasagne, it also…
  • As I gained more and more weight I didn't see the use of looking after myself anymore because I felt fat and ugly anyway. Last week I bought some make-up for the first time in 6 years and have been wearing it this week. Today I've painted my fingernails for the first time in years! I'm finally starting to feel like a woman…
  • It is doable, I lost 60 pounds in a year with diet and 30 minutes walking a day. It all came back, but that was more because I got slack with both walking and portion sizes. Like the others said though, you'll end up skinny but flabby, while exercise will give you a more toned and healthier body. Anyway, perhaps try and…
  • What you have to ask yourself is if you want to get skinny fast, or skinny healthy. In the long term it doesn't matter whether you got to your goal weight a bit slower, but it will matter that you kept your body healthy while getting there. Look after yourself, eat enough and eat healthy. Not only will you reach your goal…
  • I've just unsubbed from WoW again, I go through phases. At the moment I'm messing about in LOTRO, and Kingdoms of Amalur. I'm looking forward to Torchlight 2, and I'm curious about Guild Wars 2 as well. At the moment I'm trying to game a bit less and be a bit more active though, as hard as it is
