  • That's so amazing! Stories like that really make me remember how little I have to complain about, so many congratulations to that guy and what he managed to achieve!
  • Even without the "angry makes me work harder" thing, exercise releases endorphins, happy hormones, which you can actually get addicted to, so if you haven't worked out in a couple of days that might actually contribute to the anger!
  • It does not kill your metabolism. Exercising encourages your body to use its fuels more efficiently, so the more cardiovascular fitness you have, the less calories you will burn with the same amount of exercise. Not equivalent to slowing down metabolism.
  • I think that is part of my problem as well, there isn't a lot of free time to snack during the day, and I don't want to start eating feeling really full during the day to balance out the calories... I guess it will just be a matter of fiddling with different things til I get it sorted
  • When I'm studying I tend to cut up a few apples pears and oranges to put in a bowl and then its easy to pick at with one hand while you work with the other. Grapes are also good for that. My problem is I normally go for other things you can pick at one-handed, like crisps!
  • Agreed with what everyone else has said, if you eat less carbs and sugary things there is less for your body to easily use as sugar, and it has to work harder to use up the proteins and fats to convert them into sugar for fuel. And, the less sugar you have in your body, the less insulin you produce, so the less tired out…
  • As a couple of people have said there are some hot chocolates that are a lot healthier than a bar of chocolate, say 40 calories per mug when made with hot water and a splash of milk. I can't stick to any diet that doesn't include at least a small amount of chocolate, but I try to save it as a treat for the evening and eat…
  • I am so with you on this one. There are too many huge guys who just look at you like "you don't know what you're doing, you're too weedy to be in this section, you're an idiot"
  • It is definitely possible :) Good luck!
  • I am really hoping it is just a matter of keeping up the hard work and we'll get there eventually. Enough protein to support growing those muscles that you're trying to grow, and keep using them so they don't all just shrink into nothingness again. My gym always has personal trainers floating around and you can get one…
  • Really? That's it??
  • There is definitely a difference, your abs in particular look a LOT more toned in the second pic. I am also wondering what you did for 3 weeks to get that much change?! Whatever it is, I want some :P
  • I think it really just comes down to what you prefer. I generally have 1-2 days of no exercise per week, but that's because if I've had a particularly long/stressful day, the last thing I want to do when I get home and I'm hungry is to put off dinner for another couple of hours and go to the gym. Also I do a lot more…

  • I tend to weigh myself every morning just for my own interest, but I only record it once a week as that is so much more likely to show your actual progress rather than your water fluctuations
  • How about going swimming? That way you can do cardio exercises but without actually putting any weight on your ankle.
  • This is how it works at my pool too. The lanes are plenty wide enough for 2 people to pass and you are expected to share lanes. If you don't want to share, make sure to go at a time noone else is going to be there. As the lanes are signposted with speeds, most people in the slow lane are pretty good about waiting at the…
  • I don't really think it makes any difference, as it's not like working out in the evening burns off the exact food that you've just eaten, so the calories in/out ratio is still going to be the same. Personally I do pretty much all my exercise just before dinner, as I hate exercising after food cos it makes me feel sick, I…
  • I'm 23, and happy for anyone to add me :)
  • Someone just linked me this 8 minute abs work out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx3bNSHB60Q I tried it for the first time earlier this evening and judging by the burning I have already I'm guessing it did something :P I don't know anyone who's used it for a long amount of time though.
  • I don't know anything about this specific plan, but my problem in general with diets that give you a meal-by-meal plan of what you "should" eat is that they end up being very uneconomical - you have to buy all kinds of food that I wouldn't normally go anywhere near, and then you only use a tiny bit of it, and they never…
  • If you've recently reduced how much you eat and increased how much you exercise it can make you feel really tired and a bit like you're getting a cold/flu-type illness by the end of the day because of the extra strain your body isn't used to. And then when you've relaxed and allowed your body to heal up overnight you can…
  • Mine is very much dependant on what I've done at uni that day - if I had to be in at 7.30am the chances of me exercising when I finish as 5-6pm are pretty slim! Also for weekends if I go stay with my boyfriend for the weekend, I don't tend to make time for exercise either. But generally during Monday-Friday I try to do…
  • Thankyou!

  • I'm 5'10" and aiming for about 11 stone (154lbs), for now at least (that's losing about 15lbs), mainly because I've put on a fair bit of weight recently and I can't afford to buy replacements for all the clothes I have grown out of! I realise that's not a massive amount in the grand scheme of things, but with my miniscule…

  • Hey, I also have most of my height in my legs and need about 35" inside leg. I tend to buy my jeans from Next, as they do an extra long length (or at least they used to, I haven't bought any in a while!) in nearly all of their normal styles - so you can go in and try some on to make sure the size is right, then take them…
